  1. I definately do not dislike the album, there are moments of greatnest with some songs just missing that little bit.

Chi Dem - Good rocker but missing the type of bridge and full intro build up that WTTJ has

Shacklers - Perfect song for what it is. Wouldn't change anything.

Better - Great song, would've probably done the opening notes and drawn out intro in the same vein as SCOM without the drum machine.

Street of Dreams - Make it what The Blues was and rerecord the vocals and would be perfect

If the World - Sorry, will never be able to get into this song. Maybe should've had a GNR Lies accoustic-ness to it.

There was a Time - Needs a November Rain-esque intro. The choir stuff needs to go. Otherwise perfect.

Catcher - Good song, sounds a bit like a demo though. Dont mind the Bumble solo, feels like it could've used a different guitar.

Scraped - Love it except the intro. Skip the choir and extend the intro.

Rhiad - Good song, just dislike the Axl 'ahh ahh ahh' parts, and lyrically its hard to relate to

Sorry - Good song, has synergy to Dont Cry, just think the lyrics could be tinkered with so it's not so simple and be more relatable to the fan

IRS - Great song, wouldn't touch anything except maybe make the main riff more loud and agressive

Madagascar - Great song, would probably leave the MLT/CHL quotes out though.

This I love - Great song, I feel at times it needs an intro, or the song before it should've been something that flows to it

Prostitute - Needs an intro, otherwise a good closing song.

  2. I always wonder what the forums would be like if Axl had managed to release 3 new albums by now. The distinct lack of new music, more than anything else, is what constantly feeds the Old GNR vs. New GNR arguments on here.

No doubt it would be a lot different, considering ChiDem would've been out in 2002 and had more of an initial impact.

  3. How can people not see that it was Axl who in the main broke up GNR, everyone aside from Axl points the finger at him and Axl himself comes up with no rational explanation himself to defend his unknown actions.

It's obvious Axl was the main factor for original GnR's breakup. That being said, this does not mean the version we heard is 100% accurate. It's somewhere in between the Slash/Duff and Axl's version, a bit more to Slash's side. Axl was probably concerned about him being fired because of the late starts and the growing tension between him and the rest of the band, and, in a legal way, secured his position in GnR. That part about Axl not taking the stage if Slash and Duff didn't sign the contract is probably bullshit. That's illegal.

If the Slash/Duff were clever enough at the time, they should've told Goldstein to go fuck himself, and called the bluff, then showed up on stage and see what happened.

  4. Tons of great solos from Buckethead as well. His It's So Easy end solo would be worth the price of a ticket to that show alone.

I like it, but the solo is his standart lick played over and over so nothing special to me - Axl's lil rant made the song for me. Are you listening me mr. security man? THAT GUY!

    THAT GUY! GONE!

I've always wondered if that part was staged..

  5. Axl doesn't work for you. Don't push it.

The person you work for is the person who pays you right? That's the loosest but truest definition, I think we can all agree there. So Axl does work for me, you, and everyone else who purchases GNR tickets and, cds, merchandise, etc.

People may not want to hear OMG or Silkworms over Jungle or Easy but I bet a large majority wouldn't mind it over Out Ta Get Me, Shacklers, Riff Raff, a jam, or a Dizzy Reed piano version of some Who or Elton John song (whatever he covers or piano).

    wrong

  6. There are always going to be casual fans and fans not born before AFD came out that would like to hear the old stuff. It'll be interesting to see how the setlists go when a new album drops. If there's no promotion or hit singles, it'll be same old same old.

    My setlist

    1. Chinese Democracy

    2. Shacklers

    3. Nightrain

    4. Its So Easy

    5. Rocket Queen

    6. There Was A Time

    7. Scraped

    8. YCBM

    9. Better

    10. SCOM

    11. Double Talkin Jive

    12. Yesterdays

    13. WTTJ

    14. Catcher in the Rye

    15. Patience

    16. Street Of Dreams

    17. Prostitute

    18. Estranged

    19. This I Love

    20. November Rain

    Encore

    21. Dont Cry

    22. Madagascar

    23. Civil War

    24. Paradise City

  7. I like the bloated stuff the best on the UYI albums. The rocking songs apart from Bad Obsession, Double talkin Jive and Dont Damn Me arent anything special. Even YCBM isnt that great - just a bit overhyped because it was in an Arnold movie. None of the softer songs hold a candle to Patience. Dead Horse and Yesterdays the best of rest.

  8. If Coldplay's singer replaced everyone in the band, stayed out of the spotlight for years, developed a terrible media reputation, released 1 album with new band, while still calling themselves Coldplay, and have gone thru the many other problems GNR has, he'd probably have a tough time getting people to want to hear his new music too.

I think Chris Martin would have an easier time of it, as long as what the music he reintroduced was of a commercial quality, and a hit would put him back on top.

Plus no one knows the other guys in the band, people wouldn't give a shit about that aspect.

  9. Hey Eddie .. what happened with Dj? I mean, I know this is about Axl, but, Dj is part of the band too :S

To be fair, there's not a lot he could ask him thats worth our interest. Cant even ask him any Chinese Democracy questions. It would just be the usual "how's it been going since you joined" type stuff.

  10. I think you would find that if the original band was still together, they'd still play all the classic hits.

It will be interesting once another album comes out, how many CD songs remain in the setlist. If its only 2 or3, then you'd say GNR is a nostalgia act.
