  1. He admitted in 2002 that he had quit smoking, and his voice was shit then. Then all of a sudden in 2004 there's pictures of him smoking cigars

There's a big difference between smoking a cigarette and a cigar.

    Um...no?

  2. With the state of Axl's voice do people want new material as in stuff he'll record now or new as in leftover CD stuff?

Axl's voice seems to be fine in the studio.

The vocals on Chinese Democracy were recorded 10-15 years ago. And they kind of sucked and were autotuned to hell.

  3. I was thinking...maybe Axl quit smoking leading to his voice losing the "rasp". It would also explain his weight gain.

He admitted in 2002 that he had quit smoking, and his voice was shit then. Then all of a sudden in 2004 there's pictures of him smoking cigars and his voice is back to form in 2006.

If he's quitting smoking to improve his health, I'm happy for him - but he should at least say something to that effect so that we don't expect his vocals to be top-notch anymore.

  4. Axl is 50 years old. His voice is trashed.

Why doesn't he just take 6 months to prepare himself for one final blow-off show? I'm a big fan of The Band's The Last Waltz where they did one final show with special guests. The whole thing was fucking amazing.

Think about it - one final GNR show at Wembley Stadium with each of the original members sitting in for a song or two, Brian May doing "Catcher in the Rye", Angry Anderson guesting on "Nice Boys", Alice Cooper doing "The Garden" with Axl, Elton John duetting "November Rain" with Axl, Buckethead doing "There Was a Time", and all sorts of other shit.

4 hours of excess in front of 80,000 fans - the way Guns N' Roses should go out.

    How about it?

  5. My guess is she knows what side her bread is buttered on so she wouldn't be going anywhere. Why walk away from the cash cow?

I think the bigger question is would Axl ever give Beta the ass. I think that is a much more realistic proposition. He actually did boot her out of the house a few years ago for a couple of weeks after she went behind his back and tried to get Goldstein back into the fold. Goldstein the clown put photos of himself from the meeting with her on facebook, which obviously got back to Axl and he hit the roof.

    Are these pics floating around?

  6. He probably can't sing NR like that (with rasp) any longer. Still the best (most rasp) version I ever found from "nu Gn'R" era was at the LA show in 2006. Beat this!

  7. Then record new songs with the current lineup which reflect his state of mind today.

    It's not that hard.

Hence my point 2. No inspiration -> No songs.

Axl will marry some model, and in 10 years we'll get some lame album about fatherhood like Don Henley did.

Axl will top the adult contemporary charts in 2023.

    But what fuels him now?

My guess is, not a lot.

    Red Bull and Cheetos

Anyone has any idea where that came from? I mean, how the lead vocal was removed? There are no multitracks or whatsoever.

And something that always intrigued me is: if it was possible to delete the vocals, wouldn't be possible to copy and paste the isolated track somewhere else, or even delete the instrumental track?

    I made this years ago.

I took a high-quality rip of the original track (I think it was the single version, not the version from the End of Days soundtrack) and cleaned it up with Goldwave - I removed the small amount of hiss in the studio track and EQ'd it better since the mixing was way the fuck off.

I released a high quality MP3 of my cleaned up track, and soon after I put the same track back in Goldwave and removed the vocals using some of the available settings/tools. That's what you've linked to above - I released it as a 192 kbs MP3 I think. There was a 128 kbs version without vocals that someone else made that sounded like shit, so that spawned me to make the above track.

    Now you know!

  9. CD was a full collaboration whether you accept it or not.

Axl and Caram Costanzo EDITED GUITAR SOLOS TOGETHER from multiple takes - Brian May said that pissed him off when he heard them play back "Catcher in the Rye" and Bumblefoot was pissed off about some of his work on the final album being copied-and-pasted too.

Axl was the only one with final say on the track listing.

That's not a full collaboration. It's Axl hiring studio musicians under the guise of Guns N' Roses and controlling everything himself.

  10. Mr Brownstone

    Rose Bar!

I never understood why this was released with monitor mix/soundboard audio, but the other videos from this show all had crowd-audio.

Awesome fucking performance - one of the only times where Axl sounded like he did in the old days completely.

  11. You have to remember that in 2009-2010 Axl was motivated by the album failing. He called 2008 the worst year of his life.

He probably had a lot to prove to himself.
