How can anyone hear ''like you've been right'', it's clearly something like ''imagined'', it obviously has the ''ma'' sound in it.
''...live in a shade of'' is a certainty as well. He sings it in the live versions.
Someone should ask Axl. Fuck questions about a new album, I want to know this.
This is a mystery, thanks for your thoughts man.
Well, he's clearly got a ton of filters and effects on his voice in that recording -- assuming you're talking about the End of Days version. So it could be anything really. If you've heard a live version then you have more information than I do.

This is what I hear:
It's not how you're thinking
Like you've been right
You've been living a trade-off
Believe you're a legend
Leave you in slavery and drain out your soul
What can I do when there's so many liars
That crawl through your veins
Like millions of spiders
That seek out their victims
And no-one's the wiser
Watch out
Gotcha

LOL, so a praise is "fanboyism" and not "objective" enough?
Im sorry, but too many here are trying to act very much like the non-hardcore fans: its not cool to be supportive or fully satified with something regarding the new band. Its like there is a need to have always anything against them.
IMHO, a review isnt supposed to be objective, thats totally impossible anyways. And being too cynical regarding anything that others could consider flawless is nothing but a bitter way to deal with your own taste.
The funny thing is that the review was actually a breath of fresh air after so many "the music is good, but.." kind of comment. And here we are again.
To each his own, I guess. I agree with his point that too many reviewers ignored the actual music and focused solely on the controversy. But it's stuff like this that bugs me: "One may feel that fourteen songs are too many to dedicate to the longing and loss of a relationship, but I’d say that anyone who says that has truly never loved." Really? Every song on CD is about "the longing and loss of a relationship"? Maybe that explains why he didn't understand "Catcher in the Rye".
My favorite review of Chinese Democracy was Chuck Klosterman's.
By the way, I just saw GNR in Atlanta and couldn't be more thrilled. I hope it's a sign of good things to come.

I love Chinese Democracy. That said, this review sounds like complete fanboyism. It reads like someone jerking off to the sound of Axl Rose's voice.
Sad but true. The album needs more appreciation but this is not objective enough to be credible.

Pretty sure I saw that Slash impostor in the background at the ATL show too, lol

Now you guys know we weren't lying in Atlanta! If they keep up these epic three-hour shows maybe they will finally get the respect they deserve in the US! Here's hoping, anyway.

The ATL show is the best rock concert I've ever had the pleasure of attending. Axl's vocals have never sounded better, and the band just flat-out rocks!
Here's Mr. Brownstone -- the video quality isn't great due to our nosebleed seats, but the sound is good:

If it's the same as the Atlanta show, I believe DJ's solo is called "Mi Amor", which according to his Twitter feed is a song he wrote about his guitar.
Glad to hear the Houston show was as epic as Atlanta! I'm seriously considering making the trip to Nashville in December to see them again!
