  1. The Houston show was just epic, I don't know how else to explain it. They came out on fire with CD and didn't let up for 3 hours! I flew in and went with a college buddy and he didn't believe me when I said they were going to play for 3 hours. The crowd was great, the floor and lower bowl were filled and the upper deck was pretty full as well. The setlist mixed things up nicely and the CD songs sound right at home with the GNR classics. Axl's voice sounded as good as it ever did and he looked like he could go another 3 hours, don't know how he does it. This tour is definitely not to be missed. If there's not a show near you, get on a plane and go see it or you will regret it. I'm seriously thinking about going to another date next month. Last night's show was simply the greatest concert I've ever attended.

One question though, does anyone know what DJ was playing during his solo? Fortus played the James Bond theme, Bumble did Pink Panther, Dizzy did Baba O'Reilly, but I couldn't figure what DJ was playing. I'd appreciate it if anyone can tell me what he played during his solo.

If it's the same as the Atlanta show, I believe DJ's solo is called "Mi Amor", which according to his Twitter feed is a song he wrote about his guitar.

Glad to hear the Houston show was as epic as Atlanta! I'm seriously considering making the trip to Nashville in December to see them again!

  2. How can anyone hear ''like you've been right'', it's clearly something like ''imagined'', it obviously has the ''ma'' sound in it.

''...live in a shade of'' is a certainty as well. He sings it in the live versions.

Someone should ask Axl. Fuck questions about a new album, I want to know this.

This is a mystery, thanks for your thoughts man.

Well, he's clearly got a ton of filters and effects on his voice in that recording -- assuming you're talking about the End of Days version. So it could be anything really. If you've heard a live version then you have more information than I do.

  3. This is what I hear:

    It's not how you're thinking

    Like you've been right

    You've been living a trade-off

    Believe you're a legend

Leave you in slavery and drain out your soul

What can I do when there's so many liars

    That crawl through your veins

    Like millions of spiders

    That seek out their victims

    And no-one's the wiser

    Watch out

    Gotcha

  4. LOL, so a praise is "fanboyism" and not "objective" enough?

Im sorry, but too many here are trying to act very much like the non-hardcore fans: its not cool to be supportive or fully satified with something regarding the new band. Its like there is a need to have always anything against them.

IMHO, a review isnt supposed to be objective, thats totally impossible anyways. And being too cynical regarding anything that others could consider flawless is nothing but a bitter way to deal with your own taste.

The funny thing is that the review was actually a breath of fresh air after so many "the music is good, but.." kind of comment. And here we are again.

To each his own, I guess. I agree with his point that too many reviewers ignored the actual music and focused solely on the controversy. But it's stuff like this that bugs me: "One may feel that fourteen songs are too many to dedicate to the longing and loss of a relationship, but I’d say that anyone who says that has truly never loved." Really? Every song on CD is about "the longing and loss of a relationship"? Maybe that explains why he didn't understand "Catcher in the Rye".

My favorite review of Chinese Democracy was Chuck Klosterman's.

By the way, I just saw GNR in Atlanta and couldn't be more thrilled. I hope it's a sign of good things to come.
