Can I ask a genuine question to you guys that attended, because I have tickets for shows coming up in a few months in Australia (possibly cancelled though). Is there any COVID requirements? Like do the band, or the event promoter or venue require everyone to be vaccinated and show proof of that? Any other COVID regulations at all?

No regulations.  So much shit is gonna change before your show, I'd wait until its close to show time to look into it.  Foo Fighters show in June at MSG DID require vaccination proof, but it was really a joke of a check.  First off, our CDC cards could be photocopied as they are nothing special at all, no holograms, etc... , secondly, they didn't even ask for ID when checking them, so 100 people spaced out could show the exact same photocopy and name and they would been fine.

That said, I'm not condoning xeroxing some CDC cards or anything, just get the stupid shot and move on..,, but no requirements at either CitiField on Wednesday for hella mega tour, or Thursday at Metlife for GNR.  There were very few masked people inside.

Also saw the biz markie tribute..Axl can’t hold a note currently. I’d assume he never had any musical training if I only heard him sing that. Sorry if I’m being too critical. It just might help if he gets the technical parts of his vocals back!

Are you joking?   He cracked his voice on purpose as the tribute cover is purposely not in tune either.

  3. Not to be an asshole....   but I agree with all who suggest Axl's voice is truly shot and probably would benefit from some surgery.  However, as long as this band can continue raking in cash and getting people to cough up more cash to see them again, no way he's ever going to do that - he doesn't seem to care or grasp the fact that he just sounds awful.

I think if the cash started drying up, instead of improving the product they are selling,  they'll resort to guest appearances by Steven, Izzy, or even Teddy big-bag zig-zag, the Greek on the harmonica, before Axl would ever consider dramatically improving his vocals.

Souncheck of WTTJ surfaced online and "Axl isnt sounding terribly bad"

That's a hell of ringing endorsement if I've ever heard of one.  Axl was in sound checks and wasn't as atrocious as most hardcore GNR fans expected.

The skeptic in me would question whether it was a stage hand filling in for the vocalists, or maybe some of the mystery buttons that emoji Melissa Reese hits during rehearsals which cover for Axl.

I'm probably going to wear a mask too when I go to see them just because there's so many people there, although I hope most of them are vaccinated.

Vaccination rate around here is pretty high, although GNR probably draws a lot from the sticks where I'm sure its much lower.  Having been to a few Mets games and the Foo Fighters MSG show... I think almost all will be unmasked except when using the bathroom, where I now appreciate wearing a mask.

Rumors of a mask mandate coming back to NJ. Wonder how this will affect the three shows here (that already are selling poorly).

I just scanned the article, but I saw no suggestion of masks being required in an outdoor stadium next week.

  7. I went to the Foo Fighters show last month at MSG that was supposed to be no entry without vaccination.  It was a joke, they looked at your card prior to entering the building, but they just glance at it for a few seconds and don't ask to match the card up with your ID.  You could show them a photocopy of one and it'd be no problem, although that would be a dick move.  I had GA floor, maybe 1 out of 50 were wearing masks, mostly older people.

The price for MetLife tickets on ticketmaster are dirt cheap and keep dropping.  Pretty much every section looks to have available seats including the PIT.

I've been to 7 shows (first being in 91).  l feel embarrassed for the band that they only seem to have sold 50-60% of tickets for a NYC metro show with fans not having been to concerts in 18+ months.  Personally, I've been keeping my eye on PIT tickets as they can dropping on price, now around $350 including fees on StubHub, but hesitating to pull the trigger.  If it's the same exact show that I've already seen 3 times, and I imagine Axl will still be out of shape and worse voice, which I'm sure it is, my money could be spent better on other events.  They need to give fans some reason to see them..  bring back Izzy or Steven.. that would be enough to fill that stadium.

A band like U2 would sell that place out in minutes.

  8. With all the hits over the past 30+ years, so many options to appease everyone in the crowd.  It's very exciting to just thing of the possibilities of next years setlist.  I think now that Axl is clearly on top of his game and giving us his best and Frank is just getting into his peak, maybe they can drop the few covers that they play at each show do and really make their move.

Foo Fighters are alright, nothing special... they've got a couple of good songs. Problem is also that they have never evolved a lot and have been making the same kind of music since the first record more or less.

For sure.  Granted they haven't been around for 33 years like GNR, so its unfair to ask them to switch up their setlist as much as GNR routinely does with each round of the NiTL tour as they haven't been around as long and haven't had nearly as many hits or success as GNR has endured with their ongoing artistic creativity.  Hopefully the Foo's can catch up to GNR at some point.

I believe it's a new album... For real this time!

@Oldest Goat has put too much faith into this for it not to turn out the way he hopes for...

Unless the new album has contributions from Izzy and Steven (extremely unlikely unless it's remastered AFD) it would have lawsuits written all over it for misrepresenting them.  I hope my assumptions based on logic and history of promotion for this band is proven wrong and its actually something to get excited about such as new songs or live performances with Izzy and Steven, but I doubt it.  Fool me once shame on them, fool me consitently for 25 years, shame on me.

It will be a AFD remaster.

Which will be very disappointing if it doesn't include some great (and i mean great) bonus material.

If it is a remastered AFD, I would assume it has more to do with prior commitments made to "Universal Music Enterprises" (whom gnr.fm is registered to when they created it on 3/21/2018) to generate revenue and little to do with the current band.  Otherwise, it would not make sense to create a new website for that purpose.  I think the site may have more content than just an announcement for a remastered record that would likely only sell to hardcore GNR fans.

GNR.FM is only owned for 1 year which would suggest it will be a short lived campaign.  I'm guessing a free station streaming GNR for a few weeks (or months) to pump fans up for upcoming performances.

Gnr.com is taken ;) Seriously though, it is weird that they use a FM domain.

I don’t think it’s an AFD5 reunion, sadly. If it is the timing is odd with the Euro tour coming up soon. Would Izzy and Steven join that tour? Unlikely. And if they joined for a US trek after Europe, and announced it now, I think the European fans would feel a bit miffed..

I think the billboard is just a teaser for more US tour dates coming soon.

Before the Apollo show they had an exclusive Sirius XM GNR station for several days (maybe weeks).  I assume this is something similar.

  13. They had billboards in NYC last year with the skulls (in the cross) to promote the Apollo show.  Fans are getting their hopes up - sensational marketing to generate excitement.  It'll be a website that shows videos, old and new live footage, etc..  Maybe some live streamed shows during the festivals.. nothing more.   You really don't need to look much further than the .FM in the url.

  14. Best show I've heard in a decade, well done, hopefully this becomes Live Era 2016-2018 - not even a need to overdub this time.  A perfect ending to the tour would be at the Woodstock 50th anniversary that is being planned for 2019.

Hearing clearly through the soundboard, are there layered vocals or some autotune going on?   If so, and its a known thing, I don't care but I'm pretty sure those low/mid range awesome rasps at points are being thrown in.  In PC "tell me who you're gonna believe" - the lower range out of nowhere seems layered in.
