  1. 2. Van Halen II

    3. Fair Warning

    4. A Different Kind of Truth

It's very close between Van Halen II, Women and Children, and Fair Warning, and I believe A Different Kind of Truth deserves to be in the mix as well. Diver Down was a weird album, and 1984 was Hot for Teacher and nothing else for me.

Van Halen I is easily the best.

Romeo Delight and In a Simple Rhyme are pretty high on my favorite songs. I can listen to the demos and GNR demos and never get bored of either one. Too bad neither band wants to clean the demos up and put them out.

I understand you want mastered version of the original demos, but A Different Kind of Truth is pretty much nothing but the band re-polishing the demos.

  2. I don't think they're the same at all. Not at all. On one side you've got Children of the Grave, Sweet Leaf, Into the Void, War Pigs, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Paranoid, Electric Funeral, real dirty doomy stuff, but on the other side is Stairway, Over the Hills, Whole Lotta Love, Heartbreaker, No Quarter, Good Times...I'm just having a very hard time stacking those up and saying that the two are basically the same. They are in the same vein of hard rock, from the same area and era, but so what? Like The Beatles and Stones had extremely similar backgrounds, they certainly weren't extremely similar musically.

  3. Nothing wrong with the performance?  that's pathetic. Listen - the bridge school "disaster" is labeled like that because Axl mixed the "jungle" and "crazy" lyrics. Why? The arrangements are really similar. He did perform the song earlier as well - it didnt happen out of the blue. Other than that, he hit the highest notes of every song, unlike Bon Jovi who doesnt even bother while singing LOAP. Yes, that's right, an out of form, sick Axl can hit notes that the money whore didnt hit for the past 5 or 10 years of his live career. Not to mention that the drummer sounded like he was playing another song when they went for Always. It was a pathetic performance whether you can understand what a voice crack or what a high note is - which you dont seem to know at all.

*Jon Bon Jovi was out of breath throughout

*His voice cracked all the time when he tried to hit high notes

*He struggled to hit those the few times he went for them

*Couldnt hit the right high notes - he went lower than he used to

*Didnt even bother with the highest notes

*Looked and sounded like if he was about to drop dead anytime

    *Sounded so much nasal throughout

*His voice was *completely gone* quite a few times

If you think that this is OK, your ears are really untrained or you are tone deaf.

This is not a disaster. It really isn't that bad at all. His music sucks, but he isn't doing that bad for someone in his 50s.

  4. 4 years ago? Like has been said, pretty much here out of habit. Can not tell you the last time I clicked on the "News and Discussion" forum, and wouldn't really care much at all if another album did come out. I'd listen to it, but at this point I think it's far more fun to watch the band and laugh. How many years has it been since CD was begrudgingly released? And we still have no one confirming there is another one coming? Another Vegas residency? Wasn't there supposed to be a live album or something? The whole damn thing is just laughable.

I really liked GNR as a naive teenager, and naturally followed the current incarnation, but it really did not take long at all to realize how pathetic it was. CD isn't that bad, but I'm not going to go out of my way to listen to it again.

  5. Just as Zeppelin tailed off, so did Page. His flame died out before the band died, and didn't have the partners he once had to back him up. Robert Plant may have had some success, but it was making songs that were pretty different from Zeppelin's music.

  6. Their only good album is O Yeah!, that 2 disc GH album. The last one sucked ass

You can't be serious. Saying a band only has one good album and then saying it's their GH album? Pretty much comes across as you saying you like their whole catalogue

Rocks is fucking awesome though. Toys in the Attic is also superb. Anything after Rocks is pretty much garbage though.

  7. as for mental people getting guns with 330+ million people running around you cannot keep tabs on every nutjob hell bent on destruction.

It would be very easy if you utilized your taxes more appropriately.

yes because we get to control this. obama and congress have me on speed dial to run the country just as i say.

Obama can't even get the legislation passed because your society is so polarized by an extremely simple solution.

Why the hell would he spend, when he can't even get the required support to act?

It's not an extremely simple solution. Gun bans in the past have made homicide rates rise, and guns are so ingrained in part of our society that there is no easy way to just cut them out. You really aren't here for a debate though. You think a man trying to rape a woman is a ridiculous situation and that a reallocation of tax dollars will somehow end mental illnesses. You just have a haterection for the U.S.

  8. I think that guns do way more damage in America on the suicide end of things. It doesn't get brought up as much, but twice as many people kill themselves with guns than people who are murdered by gun. Take away such an easy out and many of those people will rethink things and carry on their lives.
