"Professionalism" is so objective.  GNR has been in tour mode, so let's use the shows as the barometer here.

I saw GNR twice in 2016, those shows were close to the 3 hour mark.  I saw GNR 3 times in 2017, two of those shows were 3.5 hours and one was 4 hours.

I saw Metallica once in 2017, that show, including the encore, was 2 hours and 15 minutes (shorter than previous Metallica shows I've seen).

Its pretty ridiculous to argue that GNR with their 3.5 hour shows are "phoning it in" or "they don't care enough about the fans."  They could 2.5 hours a night and no one would be bitching about it, they don't have to be playing such long shows.

    objective or subjective?

Never compare, Metallica is a LOT MORE productive than GNR:

Plus, aside from the Napster thing, they are a lot better to their fans than GNR will ever be. So, Kirk was right. Of course, circumstances for it may be different to each other, but again, Kirk was right on what he say about GNR being "just a nostalgic act".

It's true, there's no way to compare.
not to mention the fact that Metallica is, in fact, a band. GNR no.

I couldnt careless for fan interation, interviews or social media, the only thing that matters is music and this is the only thing that buggers me about them.

If they ever release a new album I wouldnt mind if the only thing they do to "promote" it is a 10 second video saying "hey, its there go on and get it, tour starts next month" Thats all I really need, music.

I dont need to be "friends" with the artist, I dont need to have them in my life 24/7, I just need them doing their art. Guns N' Roses isnt doing neither.

    I agree.

the only thing that matters they don't do.

currently GNR is just an itinerant circus.

Totally, playing a different setlist each night is too damn safe, I agree. Also, if Pearl Jam is stadium rock, then GnR is hip hop?

    That's it partner.
PJ ... safe? no way! The band presents an unpredictable and visceral show on every night that is proposed. They do not repeat setlists and always surprise fans by playing obscurity, covers.

Safe is playing the same setlist, night after night, and having the latest release ten years ago...

  5. Not all artists want "reunions" that sum up to acts of nostalgia ...

"You once said you've avoided a Talking Heads reunion because it would overshadow the other things you've done. Is it really that simple?
There's a lot to that. I see what happens with other people when they do their reunions – and then it turns into a second reunion and a third reunion. With someone like the Pixies, it's different – they're getting the audience now that they deserved ages ago. But with a lot of them, it just seems like you don't have anything new to say, and you go, "OK, this is just some kind of nostalgia exercise." And I'm not interested in that."

Yeah, i get you. When i look to some friends who likes different bands(Foo Fighters, Metallica, RHCP, Iron Maiden and even Motley Crue) the things with GNR are so strange. No New Songs, no news, no interviews about what's coming, nothing. They just play the same setlist on every show...

And, when you want to buy something there are just crap on the GNR Store. I dont know, if i meet Axl on street i dont know if i would request a sign or a picture. But with Slash and Duff, things would be a lot different, so in the end, that's how Axl Rose operates. It seems Axl just don't care, he does what he want and fuck off, like he said here: "I dont owe you anything..." "I dont work for you..." "You are no my boss..." etc...

Little sad. But i just love Gnr songs, they really touch my heart, and to me they have the best songs of all time...

Great topic! And sorry for my poor english :P

    You're welcome bro ✌

Let's talk seriously. I've been thinking this morning about some issues involving GNR, and another one of my favorite bands, Pearl Jam.
I have followed them both since always. The question that remains, is ... why Pearl Jam is getting more intense, more professional, dedicated to the fans, and the GNR is not?

Besides the most requested songs by the fans to be performed every time in a better way (including Ed's voice), the shows are very diverse and never equal ...

Not to mention that Pearl Jam has taken many steps beyond professionalism, even registering live cds of various tours ... having hundreds of live albums (and various DVDs) released in excellent quality.

The guys are together from the beginning (changing only the drummers) ... this shows a musical and personal cohesion that never existed in GNR.

Let's face it ... what does this tour have to do differently from the others we've done in the last few years? I answer: the safe and elegant bass, and the incredible Duff's presence on stage. it is.
The performances of Slash would not say that it still has brilliance or charisma.

Axl should have learned to be professional in the first place, and respect the fans more, second.
Examples such as Pearl Jam, or even Metallica, inspire people to like bands and Rock N 'Roll more and more.

Let's talk about the reasons our favorite band swim, swim ... and die on the beach.

As an old time GNR fan, I can see why people didn't like it. First off is the obvious: no Slash nor any of the original GNR was on that album. It 's tough to change a band musically when a whole generation grew up on the original. It was never going to succeed because people have an image of the band. Axl wasn't going to be able to replace that image with guys who looked like they didn't belong. You had a weirdo dressed up in a Michael Meyers mask with a KFC bucket on his head that uses a puppet to talk.   You had another clown dressed up in an alien outfit with half of his head shaved off.  When I saw this during the MTV Awards, I was thinking WTF even though I was excited that Axl was back. The image just didn't suit  GNR. With GNR, you expected cool badasses. Not industrial freaks.

Second part is the music itself. While there are some good songs, none were great.  There some songs that were actually very poor like Scraped and Rhiad. The songs didn't have that memorable hook musically. There weren't  many songs that had memorable riffs like previous GNR material. I was excited and gave it a favorable review when it came out due to Axl coming back. Now, I wouldn't. It's an average album.

Lastly, the time that it took to get the album out. It just took too long even though there were challenges that needed to be overcome. I think if Axl had released as a solo album in 99 or 2000, it would have been viewed more favorably.

Yeah the vocals that were left alone and guitar licks suggest Tokyo, but since Slash botched the beginning of the second guitar solo in the Tokyo performance they may have filled in the gaps with Paris. The intro sounds more like Paris to me with the way Gilby slightly over bends the intro lick. God, what a confusing live album!

the reason: isn't a live album.

I still think Axl sounds good on Live-Era so I'm not too bothered about 80% of it being re-recorded vocals. The main thing is the missing songs. Really wish live staples like Civil War, Live and Let Die, Dead Horse and Double Talkin' Jive were on there.

LALD? They should never play this again...
