  1. It's not a requirement and they've had similar situations with VH and Blondie. So Guns isn't special in this regard.

If Axl was going to go why didn't he just say I'll be there on Trunk?

Everyone wants a reunion but we can't force them if they don't want to. I think they did enough to get into HOF and that's enough. If they play together that would be great.

Is it a requirement that the inductees have to play?

Seems this is causing more questions than answers and I would be surprised if Axl even turned up unfortunately. Shame as he seems the driving force of the band but then again the lead singers always get noticed more.

Would be kinda funny if Axl refused to perform and then VH w/DLR showed up to play an awful version of Jungle for payback.

    That'd be interesting.

As much as I love the guys in Velvet Revolver, their performance at the Van Halen induction was... questionable to say the least. Mostly Scott to be fair. Slash flubbed the intro but nailed the solo in Ain't Talkin' Bout Love.

That commented also reminded me of this:

LOL. All true. The band actually was pretty tight after Slash's flub in the intro, but after forcing myself to watch Ain't Talkin' Bout Love 50 or so times, I still can't figure out what the fuck Scott was going for with this performance. His. Worst. Ever.

Ahhhh, I just tried to watch it again, but I caaannnn'ttt!!!!!!!!

never seen that before....and wish I hadn't now. Scott looks like a retarded mime.

  2. It's strange because he seemed to go out of his way to compliment Matt when he was in the band, but in more recent years he seems to have changed his view.

I think he felt betrayed or something when Matt left the band, after the argument with Paul Tobias, when Paul said something negative about Slash and Matt said he wasn't gonna take that kind of talk from someone like Paul. Then feeling probably increased when Matt joined Slash in VR, etc.

  3. review

Thal, sporting a double-pointed beard to match his double-necked guitar, was part of Guns 'N Roses' excellent guitar triumvirate that includes D.J. Ashba and Richard Fortus.

They took turns playing lead and soloing, never failing to impress. Thal nailed the epic solo on "November Rain," the night's best song, while best I could tell through the downpour of red confetti, Ashba took charge of the mighty solo on the sixth and final encore selection, "Paradise City."

Of course, as great as those three guitarists were, virtually everyone in the crowd would have traded them for a single Slash.

Alas, Guns 'N Roses' legendary guitarist, Slash, long ago parted ways with Rose, reportedly tired of dealing with the singer's notorious mood swings.

Rose seemed in a good mood Wednesday-into-Thursday, not doing or saying anything bizarre, which would have disappointed anyone who showed up rooting for a train wreck.

He barely said anything to the crowd until the encore, when he asked, "You hangin' in there?" to the 80-percent or so of fans who had stuck around past 1:15 a.m.

Prior to the 1:45 a.m conclusion, Rose added, "I'd like to thank the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and our fans."

He's got a few months before the rock hall induction ceremony to patch things up with Slash, and maybe original G'N R drummer-turned-VH1 "Celebrity Rehab" regular Steven Adler.

As entertaining as these new Gunners are, it would be wonderful to see the original lineup reunite for a tour that would play bigger venues. The paychecks alone should be reason to finally end their lengthy fussin' and feudin'.

    Remember, nothing lasts forever.

    Even cold November rain.

  4. Any band but GnR! He can go murder some other poor fucker's songs live then!

I have to agree with this. Although I'm into what he does with NIN. But his play is too sloppy...never thought he had the chops to be in a band like GNR. Kind of like Paul Huge.

  5. I agree that Axl always seems to be the victim, in every situation....like you mentioned the part in GITR. I don't doubt that maybe Duff said "Axl hey man haha you should fuckin say a bunch of fuckin shit about all those fuckin magazine dudes n shit man it'd be fuckin funny haha" but really? You're gonna blame it on a guy who drank so hard his pancreas exploded? He needs to own up to a lot of stuff. I know "he doesn't work for us" and "he doesn't owe us anything" but any other reasonable person in his shoes would. Axl why do you never show up to places? Or if you do, why are you always hours late? Why does every former band member have the same opinion on why the original line up broke up, and you say they all left you? Why did you let Paul Huge play over Slashs parts in Sympathy for the Devil? Why did you list Matt as "additional musician" on Live Era? These questions will never be answered, but if Axl did, he would be the victim in every situation.

  6. Robert Trujilo was inducted with Metallica before his first contribution to the band was even released. I don't see why Tommy and other members of the band won't get inducted. As far as I am concerned if you just joined an eligible band and they agreed you are to be inducted with them, then you're in.

And I happen to think Chinese Democracy is their best album since Appetite for Destruction. Use Your Illusion I and II were awesome though. I can't understand why anyone would put The Spaghetti Incident? Over CD unless they are Slasholes.

TSI isn't a better album than CD, I mean it can't be, it's all covers...obviously with the GNR spin on them. That being said, I still prefer to listen to it over CD, just because it's the kind of music I love. AFD is the epitome of my kind of music. Chinese Democracy is not. I appreciate it for what it is (an Axl Rose solo record) and listen to it from time to time, but I'd rather put in TSI in my car than CD. But hey, that's just me. I'd listen to AFD, UYI, Lies, or a number of other albums by other bands before I'd put in TSI or CD.

  7. I have heard a ton of different answers such as...

He was depressed as his mother died? (I heard his mother died, so this could be true)

He cut his hair and didn't want to be seen with short hair? (doubt he would do that)

He had throat surgery? (he sounded fine at RIR 2001)

He had a drug issues? (Possible)

He was upset over Kurt Cobains death? (doesn't make sence really)

So what was the real reason or your thoughts on why he made no public apearances from 1995-2000?

Getting a new band together, writing songs, etc. He mentioned that he had material where he could have just written a "new Appetite" but chose to completely reinvent the wheel so to speak.

If you don't know, Axl's not a very *public* person in that he avoids the media at all costs. So it's not that he was in hiding, but that he was hiding from the media. Or as Axl puts it, there are very few people in the media that want to hear what he wants to say. They only care to spin *rumors* to say what they want to say.

So for us the fans, if Axl avoids the media, then obviously, we will not know what is happening with him. So, it will seem like he is off doing nothing but hiding in his mansion.

Here's a little brief history of the '90s:

    End of 1992-1993

Axl said on the Eddie Trunk radio show that the plan was to do another AFD-like album after the UYI tour ended.

By this, he meant stripped-down and simple songs like those on AFD - not that, there were any intentions to try to duplicate the success of AFD. Just simple rock songs that wouldn't take too long to do and get out to the fans.

This would have been just like the Lies album that GnR put out for the fans - to past time - as GnR worked on their next major studio album: the UYI albums.

But the plans went to the gutter because Slash refused. Why did Slash refused?

As Axl then also stated: Slash does not like the songs on AFD. He only cared for his parts.

In other words, the style of the songs on AFD is not the style of rock music that Slash likes to create - as evident by the kind of music Slash put out post-GnR. None of Slash's post-GnR work sound anything like GnR!

    Slash's Snakepit

At the time, Slash had begun building up his stash of Snakepit songs that he wanted to push as the next GnR album.

But Slash would not allow Axl's or anybody else's creative input in improving the songs he came up with. Axl had to sing to Slash's songs as-is without any tinkering or modifications.

Sound familiar? This is exactly the same reason why Slash hated Libertad, which consequently help lead to the breakup of VR, ie. firing of Scott Weiland. Slash gave into Scott Weiland on Libertad and allowed Scott to have a lot of creative input on Libertad. As Slash stated publicly after Scott Weiland's firing: the next VR singer must sing exactly to the songs he creates - no changes at all!

    Mid-Late 1993

So because Slash and Axl could not reach a comprise on this AFD-like album, GnR thus decided to just put out their cover album, "The Spaghetti Incident". TSI was release November 23, 1993.

TSI was a close as you could get to getting a stripped-down rock album from GnR. Of course, not exactly the same sound and vibe as AFD, but you get the picture.

    Late 1994:

They then followed TSI up by covering the Rolling Stones song, "Sympathy for Devil", as a soundtrack song to the movie, "Interview with a Vampire". This song was released in December of 1994.

One of the reasons why they did this cover song was to try get every one in the band working together again. By this time, GnR did not have a rhythm guitarist, so Axl got his good friend Paul Huge to do rhythm guitar parts. But Slash hated Paul Huge! And of course, Slash could have recorded the rhythm parts himself as well. So instead of bringing the band back together, the tensions between Axl and Slash grew even bigger!

    1995-1997

By this time, the plan for an AFD-like album was long ditched as now the focus was on the next BIG album for GnR.

Slash still insisted on his Snakepit songs being the next GnR album, and still would not allow Axl any creative input. And of course by this time, Axl had already begun putting the early ideas together on what we all now refer to as "Chinese Democracy".

During this time, Axl attempted to pair Slash up with a few other guitarists as well. But nothing worked out. By October of 1996, Slash officially QUIT GnR.

Duff then officially resigned from GnR in August of 1997.

    1998-2000

New band members assembled and began implementing Chinese Democracy.

    For more details, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guns_N'_Roses

So as you can see, much of 1993-1997 was spent trying to keep the old band together. Then much of 1997-2000 was spent getting new band members and getting work done on what we now call "Chinese Democracy".

Of course, during this time Axl had many legal problems to deal with. And these legal problems did occupy a lot of Axl's time and energy. But hopefully you can see that Axl was very much focused on GnR.

Slash does not like the songs on AFD. He only cared for his parts.

In other words, the style of the songs on AFD is not the style of rock music that Slash likes to create - as evident by the kind of music Slash put out post-GnR. None of Slash's post-GnR work sound anything like GnR!

Slash still insisted on his Snakepit songs being the next GnR album, and still would not allow Axl any creative input.

Where do you get this? Is this from the Axl chats? Or from interviews with Axl or Slash? Or just your own observation?

  8. In 2006, they had two sell-out dates at The Warfield in SF, and also a pretty good draw in Oakland a few months later. I'm just wondering here, there is a LOT of time to book a SF date between LA and Vegas or LA and Vancouver. Is it too late to announce? They just announced a 2nd Vegas show and a Phoenix show, so I think it's possible. It's not looking likely though, which is a huge shame.

Because he doesn't want DJ Ashba distracted by all of the butt-railing opportunities that he will have.

Glad I'm not the only one that thinks DJ is a little fem. Too much make up and eyeliner. He looks like he'd fit right in My Chemical Romance.

I dig his guitar playing though.

  9. No Keef & Mick, Jimmy Page & Robert Plant etc etc. Even Anthony Keidis deserves to be on the cover more than Baz

Well that's your opinion....Baz is fuckin' awesome to most people who listen to hard rock/metal.

Also why is Saul Hudson on the cover?

Can someone confirm if this guy is a cupcake or just an idiot? Slash is more famous than Axl and there's other guitar players on there, what don't you understand? Or is that you read the thread title and got excited than got enraged when you noticed they included gawd dang Saul Hudson on the cover too?

Yes, I can confirm, he is both a cupcake and an idiot. He has an obsession with trying to get a reaction out of people on this board by calling Slash Saul Hudson.

  10. Anyone want to go to this show but can't get tickets? I have 2 GA tickets, paid roughly 220. My brother and I are going to see them in Phoenix now, and I'd like to get rid of these. PM me if you are interested.

  11. GNR_Challenger.png

but as mentioned, it would not have been called AFD in that case.

While that is true, based on the chronology of the events, I think when Axl mentioned this on TMS, he was talking about The Challenger explosion and Appetite for Destruction as one. I think he mentioned this picture, and thinking of the title AFD, thought it would go well, in a twisted way. I don't think they would've used this and not called it AFD. I could be totally wrong though.

  12. First of all, you act like this is new. They recorder this a few years ago. I personally don't like the Cyrpus Hill part, but the parts with Fergie don't sound bad to me, much better than Axl's "nuSweetChildO'Mine" in Big Daddy. And you don't have to say something directly to imply it. You come across like a true Axlite, so it's understandable why'd you blindly look the other way when Axl does ridiculous shit and jump on the "$la$h" bandwagon when he does something similar.

By the way, you don't have to say something to imply it. You fuckin moron.

I don't care what I come across as to someone without the ability to criticize anything Slash does. I have plenty of posts stating things that are negative, I just don't dwell on them like you do. I never implied a damn thing, but I understand that you are much too stupid to get that. I'll forgive you though, because I know that your IQ isn't high enough to grasp reality.

Thanks for your forgiveness. Maybe it takes months and months of vegetating on my computer on this forum to understand your kind of humor.

This whole "arguing with people I don't know on the internet" is something I pride myself in not doing, and I want to stay true to that now. We obviously don't see eye to eye. The end.

  13. First of all, you act like this is new. They recorder this a few years ago. 14. can some one defend that garbage as not selling out? actually you have to sell to sell out. maybe just giving up? hahaha, if you told me 1993 thats what he would be doing at this point i would have laughed in your face.

So, if a popular guitarist decides to make a solo album, collaborating with other artists he's enjoyed listening to or performing with over the years, perhaps even on a song or two that he co-penned with another band (GNR), it's called selling out?

Perhaps the guy enjoys to play, perform and record music. That's what he does for a living. And these guys didn't exactly take care of their finances when they were younger, either. If there's a buck to be made without bending over for the sake of marketing, they'll do it. It's not just their art, it's their careers and profession.

And I don't look at it as selling out, at all. If somebody else does, especially nobody's on a message board, I doubt Slash or anyone else labeled as such (see Gene Simmons), really gives a shit. I'm sure they'd take a boat-load of money and lavish lifestyle any day over not doing something that may be viewed by burger flippers as 'selling out'.

Selling out, really, is doing something un-original, a no-brainer way to make a decent stream of lute. Much like most of the members currently in GNR.

Yeah, working with a talent less hack to destroy a classic song is so original. Which was the original original for Slash though, this or Sweet Child? Go Slash, keep destroying the classics for the love of music and originality.

But it's cool for Axl to try to re record the entire album with poser wannabe's and release it....

  15. Axl is also very immature. Bet you can relate there, too.

Right, and insulting people on the internet is the height of maturity. What, was your mother on the Challenger or something? If so, my condolences. If not, lighten up pal.

I said it would have been hilarious, not that it would have been in good taste. I agree that the actual cover is better.

It wasn't an insult. It was a well-thought-out, and probably accurate, educated guess. Call it reality, not an insult.

Finding anything 'hilarious' in imagery of a tragedy, any tragedy, no matter how it's used, is immature. Maybe shallow? Uneducated perhaps? You tell me. Would you find pictures of either of the WTC's collapsing hilarious? Maybe pictures of somebody falling to their deaths from one of those buildings? Maybe you found the images of the tsunami over in Japan hilarious, too.

Like I said. Not an insult. Was just a mere observation.

What I take from this is you realize that you're out of room to argue, and yet you don't want to admit it, so you continue this little rant of yours, as if in some valiant effort to make the rest of us think he's immature and shallow. In reality, "maybe just a mere observation" but you look like the immature one, so aggressively attacking in your posts. You need to lighten up. A lot.

  16. Maybe. Impossible to hear clearly.

You can't hear it? It's definitely "tomorrow never comes"...I can hear it perfectly. I'm not sure if you really have a hearing issue or something but yes, I can confirm it.

  17. This better not be the start of numerous cancellations.....or at least not the Vegas NYE show....fuck, I will fucking blow a fucking gasket.fuck.

Just stop with the ultimatums and speculations, its not helpful.

When you go spend over 400 dollars on tickets and travel expenses and shows start getting cancelled, let me know how you fuckin feel  I don't give a shit whether or not my speculation is helpful to others. I'm voicing my frustrations on a FORUM. Deal with it dude.

  18. I read somewhere that Don't Damn Me is the only song they have never played live...? Which surprises me because it's one of my favorite songs from UYI. Probably in my top 5 actually, with Breakdown and Estranged, YCBM, Locomotive...t anyway, I'd rather have them play that then bring My Michelle out of retirement....just my opinion though rock2

  19. My Michelle - One of the best GN'R songs ever!

Edit: no Bach, please no Bach. He ruin's GN'R songs.

My Michelle is definitely not one of their best. Good song....but nowhere near the best. Not trying to say :fuckyou: but to me it's probably one of my least favorite songs on AFD, just ahead of think about you.

You don't think Bach would sound good on it? I think it matches his vocals pretty well.Definitely a matter of preference though.

  20. im so stoked for this show. I have my ticket and will traveling from Phoenix, possibly flying. Just checking to see if any other GNR fans from Phoenix are goin to the show and thinkin about makin the drive. Id be interested in a carpool type situation maybe. Goin to the show with my brother DrBrownstone, but we may or may not be travelin to the show together. If anyone else from Phoenix area is goin to the show and is interested in doin a carpool maybe, let me know

axls is sweat? Is that like, a response to a question? Like "What's each band members worst physical characteristic?" "Bumblefoot's is his breath, Axl's is sweat."

  21. Fuck it, put me down for Worcester since Albany is cancelled. Can't deal with only one gig when I've been hyping up for another the past 36 hours.

Also, sorry I haven't been as good about updating on my part lately. It's been crazy hard between classes and concerts (I've done 5 concerts since last weekend!). I'll try to catch up pg. 3 tonight. It's good to have a backup list...

Damn dude, 5 concerts in a week. That would wear me out. rock3
