  1. 1. You Could Be Mine

    2. I had no MTV or music mags when I was a kid, so getting into the band was all music and more of a process than a particular point in time or liking their image and appereance. For a while I didn't even know how they look like until I finally got my own copy of UYI2. My hardcore phases were 1996 and 2002 when the general public didn't give a shit about the band. My favourite lineup is the 2002 lineup, though I prefer the classic material over the CD era songs and Steven Adler over any other drummer in Guns, if that makes any sense.

  2. Was Axl pissed off at him?

What about Josh Freese. Did he get blacklisted?

If Axl was getting upset with everyone who worked with Slash at some point, he would have to be upset about half the entire fucking music industry.

If anything, he's probably worried about Slash talking shit about him to people he is working / hanging with today. Slash knows a lot about Axl and that makes him vulnerable to people who don't even mean him any harm but could think bad of him based on what Slash tells them about him. And who could blame him? I wouldn't want my ex to hang with my current better half either. It's not paranoid, it's common sense.

  3. Last year I asked a current band member about his favourite Guns song and he said the one he loves the most is not even released and was never played in concert yet either. He seemed very frustrated about it. And he said it was a song he didn't even work on himself, so the frustration was with it being a really good song left unheard and not a musician wanting his own work out there. So they seem to have some good material left, but not having a concept of how to use it.

I think there is more hype than material though. 20 A songs and 20 B songs, really? If he had 20 A songs then why put utter crap like Scraped on the most anticipated comeback in the history of rock music and play up to 20% covers at every concert?

I consider Blood In The Water and Better Gone to be remixes/remakes of some sort, not actual new original songs. Atlas, Thyme, General etc. are said to exist according to people such as Maro Beltrami or Baz, but no normal fan ever heard them. Going Down was seen on some setlists recently, so that might be the closest to an actually existing song seing the light of day realistically.

Guns is the sound of silence today, in like "people writing songs that voices never share" - it's a shame.

  4. - If you can't whistle the melody, there is no melody.

    - If it doesn't work with just a piano or an acoustic guitar, it might still be an awesome piece of music but it's not a song. And no one will ever play it themselves on a guitar or piano at home or anywhere to anyone. Cultural relevance doesn't mean airplay and sales. It means people practicing your songs on guitar, teaching them to students, playing them in bars and singing them at campfires. Chinese Democracy is none of these.

    - Lyrics need to be relateable. They don't have to be shallow and easy and spoonfed their meaning, but they have to deal with subject matters that also exist in other peoples lives or else its just masturbation and not communication. I can relate to the lyrics of 'Street Of Dreams' and 'Better' but what the fuck do TWAT, Chinese Democracy, Riad and IRS really tell me about MY life? Or yours for that matter? Absolutely nothing. And I like your music.

    - There's only two kinds of music: The music you wanna dance, drink and get laid to and the music you wanna sit down, think and comtemplate over. Do yourself a favour and stop trying to mix fire and water into something totally unique and individual. Water will either extinguish the fire or be turned into nothing but steam and hot air by it.

You have some absurd views on what music should and shouldn't be.

So enlighten me and let me know where I am wrong. I am willing to learn, but you gotta give me something to work with.

  5. It's one of the four really good tunes on CD. The auto tune ruins it a bit for me and it's too much of a patchwork piece, but the lyrics are really good and the ending is just beautiful. It's a very depressing but also a very powerful tune, Axl was really up to something there. I couldn't listen to it all day but when it the right mood this is just really good music. I wish all of CD would have had that quality and depth.

I mean, the autotune keeps the vocals tuned. It's supposed to be a helpful tool when editing. The reason it's gotten such a bad reputation is because people like Lil Wayne, Kanye West, and T-Pain have overused it. They like the 'robotic' effect it gives when turned up to 100 percent. It's really not a bad tool, and makes recordings sound much better when used correctly. I have a feeling Prostitute wouldn't have sounded as good without it.

For me the auto tune was just pointless, Axl doesn't really need auto tune as a singer. He has his off nights and all yes, but I think it's safe to say he can nail his own material just fine on a good day. Given the time put into the making of the album and the depth of the subject matter and the lyrics, I think a more organic vocal would have made the song even more intense and more timeless. As it is, it will always be connected to that moment in time when auto tune was popular. That's where the production is too artificial for the beauty and intensity that song has to offer.

  6. I think it's because Axl doesn't owe Buckethead that gesture, it would be so much cooler of him to do it regardless.

There is absolutely no logic to the idea that Axl should financially support the medical costs of Buckethead's father in order to iniate some pseudo-sense of reconciliation. As I said, GNR paid Bucket well enough when he was part of the project. His father's health, as harsh as it may come across, is his own personal concern.

You are right, but you don't seem catch my drift. Aside from the deal "music input and craftmanship for money" there was another thing, a niche artist not being to cool to help out a mainstream band when that band was anything but cool, as much as that band not being too cool to employ a niche artist. Back in the day no one but devoted hardcore people gave two shits about either Buckethead or Guns N' Roses. He went in knowing the project could bomb like crazy and hurt his own reputation as much as he could gain popularity from it. I don't know what went on behind the scenes, all I know is they have more in common than they woul be willing to ever acknowledge. Plus unlike many other people, Bucket never talked bad about Axl, his music or anyone the band in public. That is not saying Axl owes Bucket anything, but knowing Buckethead loves his family more than MIchael Jackson and Disneyland, one would have to be extremely stupid not to use that opportunity to bury the hatchet, and by this I don't mean taking advantage of his situation, I'm talking about the other cheek. It's just a great opportunity for growth and progression and evening things out on a personal level more than anything. If music comes out in the end that's a bonus, but even without any futher collaboration both would gain a lot from it. When it comes to a new employement, I think for strong and proud individualists like Bucket and Axl I think it's easier to give and take money for a job you do than to settle for a donation or favour of some sort. But then again what do I know. Like I said I think you are right with what you said, but my approach here is different.

  7. It's one of the four really good tunes on CD. The auto tune ruins it a bit for me and it's too much of a patchwork piece, but the lyrics are really good and the ending is just beautiful. 8. Plus a lot of fans love Buckethead

A lot of fans love Slash, too. Doesn't make Axl any more partial to Slash does it?

Bucket's association with GNR stopped on very negative terms as signified by his continued refusal to even slightly address the topic publicly. It's ludricous to suggest that Axl would feel compelled to contribute financially to the health of Bucket's family irrespective of how sad it may be.

Most everyones association with Guns ended on negative terms or else it would not have ended. Remember when Izzy left and how much it ate Axl? He said hated him for it, but 20 years later they are having a blast together on stage. If there is only the slightest chance of reaching that level with Buckethead ever, they shouldn't wait another 20 years and rather see what life is throwing at them more as signs and less as opportunities. In my opinion, it has very little to do with swallowing pride and a lot with personal growth, in lack of a better word. Guy needs help and you can help, you help. Period. At least that's how my mom raised me. I hate my neigbours with a passion because they make my life harder than it should be, but if their house was on fire, I'd get my ass over and help in no time regardless. I can still hate them when their loved ones are safe again but then at least I won't feel like a stupid idiot for letting them burn because I was too fucking proud to be a human being.

  9. I think it would be more that Axl/GNR would be doing BH a favour to help earn him money.

Axl unfortunately doesn't owe Bucket such a kind gesture as to play with GNR again simply to benefit his father's situation.

The only viable way I could see Axl helping Bucket's financial status is if he genuinely still wanted Bucket as part of GNR. And that ship seems to have sailed long ago.

I think it's because Axl doesn't owe Buckethead that gesture, it would be so much cooler of him to do it regardless. As far as Axl wanting Buckethead back, well it's known he went through great lengths trying to get him back on board and was very frustrated about losing him. How about overcoming the grudge and bitterness, knowing how far it actually gets people in life?

I doubt Buckethead would even accept such an offer, knowing he'd have to sawllow even more pride than Axl for that, but I'd still be offering. It's a matter of class, not of ego, and a gesture like that would be a great oportunity to even out things on a personal level, all the bullshit that went on aside. Talking about forgiveness and greatness here on both sides of the fence.

  10. Is the OP insinuating Axl should capitalize upon a time of financial crisis in Bucket's life and force him to swallow his pride by rejoining GNR in order to appease said crisis? I couldn't think of a worse pretence for an artist to become part of a project.

I think it would be more that Axl/GNR would be doing BH a favour to help earn him money.

    This.

Plus a lot of fans love Buckethead, so the band wouldn't do a sole case of charity here, they would probably benefit from it too a bit, if only to have a cool guest performance of a former member and songwriter. Having Izzy and Duff sure didn't hurt anyone but a lot of people enjoyed it.

  11. He could silence a lot of critics and gain massive support by reminding a few people that he suffers from depression. It would explain so much, if not everything. He was more open about it back in the day, but it is much more accepted in these times since more and more people suffer from it and actually understand first hand what he is going through instead of just reading about it.

  12. Mick is super fit for his age. I saw the Stones a couple of times and was always impressed with his stage presence and physique. However, I think Axl is a much better singer on his better days. Maybe it's all about the discipline or maybe it's compaing apples and oranges but when it comes to physical shape and vitality, Mick sure gives Axl a run for his money.

  13. Wouldn't want it. I like this version of the band. Buckethead is a fantastic talent, but I like where GNR are now. Things are finally starting to balance out abit and baby steps are being made towards what could ultimately become a new release.

This band has spent too much time looking back, time to focus on the future and stay on a path.

A guest appearance or two on TWAT would be magic though...

You got a very valid point there, but on the other hand I think it's safe to say Buckethead will pull crowds and sell tickets like sliced bread, especially in Europe where he is never touring alone. Mabye they could get him to open for Guns and guest on a song or two? He would get to do his thing and Guns could feature an original songwriter in their live shows, if only for a couple of songs. The guest thing went pretty well with Izzy and people loved it. Those who like Buckethead and his contributions to CD could enjoy it like crazy but at the same time the current lineup won't have to compromise anything but would still benefit a lot from it. It's probably not going to happen, but I would love to see it and keep my fingers crossed.

  14. According to this info:

    http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?/topic/198075-buckethead-selling-buckets-for-500/

Buckethead is currently trying to raise some funds to help out his family.

I know it's a crap shot really and I don't mean to be disrespectful towards Buckethead or his family, but maybe if camp Guns gives him a call, he might re-consider a collaboration of some sort, if only for a couple of shows? I mean if it's true that Axl worked his ass off to get him back in the band, maybe this could be a win-win situation for all? What do you think?

  15. This is not a piss at the OP, but I think the fans should just stop posting those ABSOLUTELY IRRELEVANT AND UTTERLY BORING sidehow bullshit of the yesmen. What Ron does there is for a good cause and I give him credit for that. But it has absolutely nothing to do with GN'R at all. Everyone is here for Axl. Period. Stop faking it. Get real. Bumble is cool yeah. But Guns N' Roses is Axl Rose. Post a million videos of Ron or Richard playing SOMEONE ELSES MUSIC on guitar = 3 pages of replies, at best. Then post a picture of Axl grocery shoppin = 20 pages, minimum. That's all you need to know about the state of things. They had plenty of time and opportunities to show their real talent other than playing other people's music but what did they come up with - their own line of ketchup and more of playing other people's music! Fuck that shit.

    dude...fuck off

Is that your way of saying you don't agree with me?

  16. It would be great if someone could lock these futile threads and ban the variation of one poster.Axl does not look 'sad' in every photo he merely opts not to contrive a smile for every Tom, Dick and Harry that craves a pic. The only people who cannot see this are the anti-everything-Axl-does brigade. And I strongly believe those 'users' are merely smokescreens for one or two individuals.

    Agreed

Did you braindead self righteous fuckheads even read the original post? Who the fuck do you think you are?

  19. If you were sitting at a table with Axl doing a brainstorm thing of some sort about what could be done better in GN'R - what sort of advice and suggestions would you provide him with? Here's what I would throw at him:

    - If you don't feel like performing, cancel the show rather than going through the motions for the sake of contractual obligations, it's killing you inside. I'd take a passionate no show Axl over a going through the motions Axl any day. If you cancel a show don't leave people in the dark, provide some sort of explanation. If you got a strep throat you got a fucking strep throat. It's not your fault. If you're depressed you're fucking depressed. It's not your fault. No point doing a show when you are sick. You're a human being and an artist, not a product. Act accordingly.

    - YouTube has long replaced MTV when it comes to music. Stop fucking ignoring that and use it to your advance. Make a viral worthy video and upload it to YT to provide a counter force to all those lousy and truly embarassing all so "professional" concert videos and crappy phone videos up there. Give them something sweet and likeable to chew on. Bring your kittens. YouTube loves kittens. Seriously man it's 2013, no one gives a fuck about your hair or your leather jacket. Provide some escapeism, something they can share at work or on Facebook. A cute little kitten sleeping on a piano, while the lead singer of Guns N' Roses is playing a super emotional song on it, that's what I'm talking about. Hint: It only works when the kitten gets more screentime than you, not because YT hates you but because YT loves kittens.

    - Try and get a NEW song out there and maybe in a GOOD movie or a high profile ad of some sort. One that actually happens and is seen by people. Not some studio 'we got a song/movie to pitch' bullshit. Talk to Mickey Rourke, he loves your music and knows a shitload of people in the industry. Talk to anyone in Hollywood. They love your music. They wear your fucking t-shirts and drop the name of your band in films because it makes them look cool. Why the fuck don't you use that to your advance?

    - You don't have to dress LIKE Axl Rose. You ARE Axl Rose. Like the wise man Jeff Bebe once said: "Your looks have become a problem." DJ might be the coolest guy on earth but you should not look to him for dresscode inspiration. That badass cane and jewelry would come out ten thousand times cooler with say just a simple classic black suit.

    - Consider showing some self irony and your funny side every once in a while. And if you have a bad day just let it out as long as no one gets hurt that's cool. Your rants were awesome. I miss them. You don't have to save the world in between songs but please start CONNECTING again. Consider taking off the hat and glasses on stage. You're not a country poser and you're not auditioning for Miami Vice. You're a musician. You NEED to connect.

I will probably get a load of supersmart one-liners from supersmart people posting from their phones, but I'm not talking to those dickheads. I'm talking to the fans who are still caring and checking in here every once in a while only to find themselves wondering what the fuck is going on. Are you out there? Then please come in and join me. I'd appreciate this not turning into a hate or reunion thread or being moved to where no one gets to read it. Thank you.

  20. I'm 36 years old. I don't wanna hear a 51 year old man whining about the past and the IRS. Gimme something to chew on, gimme some hope and outlook in this fucked up world. If you don't have it yourself, at least go and fucking seek it and in that provide me with some inspiration. I wanna hear stories about lost love and betrayal all I have to do is look back on my first marriage well thank you very much I got plenty of that crap in my own life, I don't need to buy a fucking CD to have more of that. I wish him nothing but the best, happiness, love, freedom and peace. Because if he can fucking find it, then everyone can. That should be the idea and motivation behind the music. At this point in time, Axl is more depressive than Nirvana and Pink Floyd combined. Gimme some Guns AND Roses.
