I think Robin has a credit on SOD and played the Freese riff on Chi dem.

So you think there's stuff more industrial/electronica than Silkworms, Shackler's, Scraped, Better, If the World?

Sure, for all we know out of the forty songs locked in the vault, there could be 1/4 of them written by Pitman or Buckethead and Brain. That's almost an entire album hypothetically.

CDII only needs the right vision, Silkworms and Oh My God were once extremely dark and industrial, but now they seem to be funkier.

Take a look at Ides Of March, a synth loop a bit more melodic than Madagascar written by Dizwald and we also know he wrote Silkworms with Pitman. Zodiac could have been, and I assume, written by Pitman or Buckethead, who else could have wrote Zodiac? Brain wrote The General. Wagzsilla said Soul Monster is somewhat like Oh My God, but it's Paul Tobias actually who wrote Oh My God. So everyone got their own industrial songs.

Between Tobias, Dizzy and Stinson we have songs like Oklahoma/Berlin and we also have Going Down or Atlas Shrugged which primarily were written between '98-'01. Modern 70's rock with funk elements. I don't think there is many songs like that left in the vault, songs like Street Of Dreams, Catcher In The Rye, There Was A Time. Those songs where there to create a bridge between the Illusion era and Chinese imo.

You could draw a parallel between Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II. The orange and the blue one. The sleaze hard rock and the southern rock. Chinese Democracy isn't that angry, it's in fact very mellow. Both Better and I.R.S. have their sweet soft parts. Light retro/modern rock against dark synthfunk rock. But sometimes heavier doesn't mean better, it could be seen as less colourful and less melodic. That's why I think they went deep into funk music.

So we have The General and Jackie Chan (Brain, Buckethead), Soul Monster and Oh My God (Paul Tobias, Finck), Silkworms, Zodiac, Thyme and Beta's Barn (Pitman/Dizzy), Ides Of March, Going Down, Atlas and Berlin (Finck, Tobias, Stinson, Reed), Seven (Rose).

Quite same amounts in term of songwriting credits as CDI, is there any Tobias/Reed/Stinson songs left after that? So there is actually more room for Pitman/Buckethead/Brain/Finck, was it for CDII or for the third opus? And where the fuck Slash and Duff stand on top of this mess?

  2. Robin Finck and Paul Tobias are still the most credited musicians (non Axl Rose) on Chinese with seven ascap songwriting credits. Dizzy six. Stinson five. Buckethead three. Pitman/Mantia two. Josh Freese one credit which is of course the riff of the title track.

And also let's no forget, Brain wrote The General.

  3. I think the pre-chorus and chorus of Shackler's Revenge was something they picked from Robin's ADAT tapes. He said some of his stuff were picked for certain parts. The 'I told you when I found you' riff during Prostitute is also something that Robin wrote. The 'Caught in the Lies' riff during Riad.

Not sure with Street Of Dreams and Catcher or Chinese but small contributions here and there.

For those who don't care, why even comment?

You don't understand, don't you? You know where you are? You're trapped with us in the Abyss where people can say anything they want to say for eternity. Welcome to Civil War baby.

    I don't care.

    We can agree to disagree.

Those millions of fans have access to the Internet and within 39 seconds can see who played on what songs. Lol - suicidal? It's just a rock and roll record.

I would love for my favorite singer to clean out his vault and share music that he's been talking about for a decade.

You would rather wait - and trust - Axl, with one album in the last 25 years, to write, record and release an album from scratch.

Not sure why both are wishes wouldn't work though. You don't expect a new album for a couple years. Why not a box set tomorrow and a new album by the current band in two years?

The Sweet Child O' Mine fans don't have enough time to study the band. I tell you, there is still fans that believe Slash wrote a few Chinese songs and so on. The Sweet Child O' Mine fans don't have the time to learn Paul Huge Tobias and Ron Bumblefoot Thal were in the band. All they know Guns N' Roses today is Axl and Slash, and that's why I said it's suicidal for a marketing point of view.

I can also say with certainty that what's in the vault will be more valuable to us than anything Slash and Duff can bring in a span of two years. I don' think Axl would have scrapped November Rain or Estranged for that neither.

Fo a marketing point of view, the next thing that should be announced after that 'biggest reunion of the 21st century' that isn't live content or greatest hits content, real life memory erasing content of the monstrosity Chinese Democracy caused to those Sweet Child O' Mine fans on daily basis, should be a proper new album, or double album, or tri... not Chinese Democracy: The Leftovers. My two cents of course.

The last line of This I Love as well (I'll never say GOODBYYYYYYEEEEEEE) can't you hear it? listen closely.

It's unclear to me. It's plausible he's using some sort of autotune to enhance the precision of the notes or the length (see below 4:56-4:59 sounds fishy), but never to hide his capabilities.

He said in 2006 the auto-tune makes it easier but as far as I'm concern he nails that final part every time he sings it live, not like the 'I'd do anything for youuuuuuu' scream or 'it's such a crime you know it's truuuuue' scream.

That's easily why the first part of Madagascar is personally his best vocals on the album, and presumably his oldest on the record (between '98-'01?), authentic voice without any superficial effects.

    0:24-1:35/1:17-1:30 scream

This is the most fan friendly thing that Axl could do. Just totally clear out the vault.

That's a huge Thank You to the fans that have supported Axl since the 80s.

And then allows Axl to move foreword with Slash/Duff without any baggage to carry with him.

That's nonsense. People all over the world are expecting to hear Slash and Duff on the next potential new album. This will only bring more confusion into millions of fans as to where those songs stand and who's playing those. Imagine the madness Chinese Democracy gathered when released, and bring that to eleven. Almost suicidal.

You can't clear out the vault with forty songs out of nowhere and not even play them live. Those songs might be as important as any guns n' roses song in Axl's mind. That's a enormous baggage to carry. I'd rather wait a few more years and have a bunch of the vault properly delivered with or without Slash.

I'm expecting a new album and a new tour. Not a scrapped boxset unless Guns N' Roses has finally been put to rest. Axl is forging ahead with Slash and Duff and his mysterious vault in whole new horizon. Well I'm only hoping.

I was the only loser who was excited when they played Chinese, Better and sorry. Shoulda saw the look on People when I was holy fuck they are playing Sorry.  Haha I would totally mosh if they played Shacklers revenge and slash changed that stupid fuckin solo.

Don't worry it means you know you're shit. I remember one time, I was waiting during one show in 2012, I saw this guy who was cracking Shackler's Revenge on his phone and you already know he's the biggest fan of them all. And in the middle of nowhere during the show the band decided to play that song and he was having the time of his life. I don't mind because it's killer live. One of the thing when I go see a GN'R or AC/DC show, I can't have fun during Sweet Child or You Shook Me All Night Long, primarily because I hate people, and I hate to see them having so much fun just for the classics, I just can't.

I think the guitar solo manipulated by Axl and Caram was to show the psychotic mind of the Shackler I'm sure there is a metaphor somewhere.

Maybe he was integral to songs, or maybe he was just the guitar player that was around and Axl said "play something like this... something a bit more aggressive" etc. Maybe he is completely underrated, regardless the guy is never gonna be getting a fair shake in a GnR forum or anywhere else for that matter, why? the VH1 documentary signed his death sentence "Axl wanted his friend... I quit GnR, he (paul) is shit" - Slash.

I like back off bitchm Chinese Democracy, Love Street of dreams but I don't have time for anything else you mentioned... especially not that shite cover of SFTD.

You're probably right. Axl used him as riff maker or something. The way the ASCAP songwriting credits are written, it seems Tobias's biggest contributions are Prostitute, T.W.A.T. and I.R.S. which stand as the more defined riffs on the album. It's quite a shame you don't have any more time to listen to it, because these three songs are way more compelling than Chidem and The Blues.

It's quite unfair to Paul, I'm sure Slash noz it could have worked for a time and Duff and Matt as well failed to see the potential of Oh My God, which was primarily written by Paul Tobias. Dizzy Reed wrote the hook of the chorus. Paul Tobias, Gary Sunshine and Dave Navarro all play on the song and Robin Finck's part was written by Tobias. So I lied, Paul's biggest contribution to GnR is Oh My God. That's a good one, almost visionary.

Don't need VH1, I already know my Gunstory. 'Without The Huge, there will be no more Guns N' Roses'

    Back Off Bitch rules.

Paul Tobias' 5 minutes in the band are something i'll always cherish

You mean eight years? I'd take Tobias over Gilby any day man. So underrated.

Back Off Bitch, Shadow Of Your Love, Oh My God, Chinese Democracy, Street Of Dreams, There Was A Time, Catcher In The Rye, Riad N' The Bedouins, I.R.S., Prostitute. Sympathy For The Devil kicks ass.

  11. I think Frank is still the drummer on Fascination Street, the new cover they've just released. For the record last time Frank played with them was in January, way before the GN'R rehearsals. Because I'm not sure if I'm buying it, there's no way Frank and Richard can have the time, contracts or not, now that GN'R is a full time job. The Compulsions is such a little NYC band it's laughable to say he fired them, I thought they were just friends. Same with Tommy Stinson, he sure knows that Frank can't have the time to play with him.

Dirty Fun was pretty great though.

  12. Multiple choice allowed between two polls.
