Like say i want to see a concert from someone else, how would i find it?
-
how about Patience in Detroit in 02 LOL
Throws mic in the air
Show over

Let me rephrase
When i saw them in Chicago in 1992, and it was like one of 3 shows where it was ever played, that made it feel special.
-
i have to say i liked Coma when it was a REAL Rarity back in the day
To play it every show seems forced

I have not heard Axl sound this good since 1993, and that is not an exaggeration!
Holy shit
-
Coma is only OK vocally....the start he doesn't give enough, and its weak. Its amazing how he can go from weak to powerful within the same songs
-
Thats fucking awesome
Good for Steven, he can die a happy man now

So i am here to tell it like it is...
Saw Guns in Chicago in April 1992, which remains the best rock show i've ever seen.
Was at the Show last night in Chicago and i was BLOWN AWAY....
Now, Alice in Chains was good, a fine opener and did a good 45 min set, only thing negative about it was the pacing of one of my favorite songs, "Got Me Wrong" was too slow and kind of just sounded wrong that way, everything else was basically flawless.
Onto Guns....The 1st 4 songs of the night were incredible! That pace is impossible to maintain i would think and they knocked it out of the park by a mile with ISE, Brownstone, CD and DTJ, but then Estranged really fucked up the flow...and Axl was poor on at least half that song. Its funny how he can change effort and intensity within the Same song! That one was the perfect example, it was one of the poorer songs of the entire show.
I would say the other song that was impacted badly by that same thing was Rocket Queen, the 2nd part especially was just weak, but there are many times where Axl is astonishing, he rises to the 1991-93 and prior levels at the drop of a hat, but can also vanish just as quick, but not that often, but it is noticeable. Also gets drowned out in the mix on several occasions .
Now the REAL star of the show is Slash! Holy shit he was on. To see him on stage at all there is incredible, but to hear him play is simply mind blowing. He is at the absolute TOP of his game, never been better. Evidence on DTJ and just about every other song he is featured on.
Duff was spot on and i loved his snippet of Can't Throw your Arms around a Memory...Raw Power, eh...
Richard had his own spotlight and never disappointed. He does stay back in the shadows often.
I actually think Frank is every bit as good as any of the prior drummers, no issues there.
Melissa Reese added competent backing vocals on a lot of songs, notable, Live and Let Die but she was more into the mix of the show than i would have figured. Dizzy Reed was mostly invisible
I was pleasantly surprised by the Seeker too, i liked how Axl used a different kind of vocal on it, very appropriate.
I would say there are WAY too many covers....It works as filler more than a compliment in a lot of places. What i wouldn't have given to have heard Yesterdays, Pretty Tied up or even Patience which was inexplicably left out. And This i Love really sounds good, but also wouldn't be missed if it was swapped out by a different, non CD song. Same goes for Better.
Overall I would HIGHLY recommend anyone who loves rock and roll to see this show, they don't get a lot better. Any REAL Guns N' Roses fan must attend a show, its a no brainer and well worth the $ and effort.

that period was their most creative right? they literally wrote whole UYI's then right?
no, it was pretty much a waste as Axl didn't bother to show up for a month

I'll be there too - A3 Row 7. I'm guessing they remove some of the rear floor sections and move those people up - in addition to closing the upper bowl. Whatever...I'm sure it will be a great show, and it's still impressive to me that they sold that many tickets at those prices, with promotion shortcomings, and with a fairly weak opener. If they sold 70K between both shows, that's still the equivalent of about 4 United Center sellouts, right?
Sure...no doubt there

This isn't a "band"....its very much like James Hetfield said 20+ years ago..
Its a guy...and some other guys

If you think this show was less than full...wait till you see Sunday's crowd in chicago, i'll be there, but there won't be more than 20K

There are no hotels in the bad parts of chicago
Anything downtown is 1)Safe as hell and 2)Expensive
Stay in the suburbs if possible
-
Those VIP meet n greets were a total joke at the price they were asking
Basically guaranteed Axl would not be there too
-
they feel the music does the talking....
-
There is NO WAY they sell even half the seats in the Super Dome in New Orleans, NO WAY
-
The 2nd chicago show, you can buy tickets in any quantity in every section
Borderline ridiculous

very good stuff, my only criticism...like in my michelle, its pointless to be trying to synch the song with Axl's lips on stage, its probably incredibly rare to get it right, and he was WAY off in the one.
But, i had seen every G N R Video a million times, and it was very cool to see these and see footage i had not ever seen before

Axl, what exactly is wrong with your voice?
