  1. I find this kind of depressing. I know it's a lot of money but I think it would have been nice for Axl to at least pretend to care about the rest of his band. And why are people ripping on Ron? Obviously you don't understand shit about being in constant pain. Yes, I'm sure he's happy to be in GNR and all the perks that come with it, but this is ridiculous. As far as him doing it publicly it's not like it would matter ifhe did it privately, meaning the result would be the same - Axl's decision.

It will always be Axl's decision though. People call it a band but it isn't really is it? Axl makes all the final decisions and calls. It's his band at the end of the day and I'm sure all of the members (including Ron) are well aware of that.

I'm not trying to insult them or anything but unfortunately until they start churning out some music I can't see any change in the power distribution happening.

Even releasing new music won't change things. This is Axl's band, it's his money that finances everything this band does. People need to get over the fact that this is a "band" in the traditional sense. It's not and hasn't been for a very long time. BBF is paid to play and record when he's tOld to, people may not like to hear that (bbf included) but its true.

  2. bumblefoot doesn't looks happy =/

    Bumblefoot ‏@bumblefoot

Success without a feeling of integrity, or happiness, is not success. To me. We all have to re-evaluate our compromises once in a while..

seriously this is stupid... This coming from a guy that prior to GnR never played in front of more than a few hundred people. Compromise? What is he referring to? Your on tour BBF, if your neck is too messed up to tour, than dont. Like it or not GnR is a business and if someone offers a profitable sum of money to play a show and logistically you can make it work, then thats what you do.

BBF is a nice enough guy but this "oh poor me, Im gonna go eat some worms" BS has to stop. You're in Axl's band and he calls the shots, dont tell me you're just now realizing that?

    2010

50 year olds can never be on top of the world.

    ps

Axl sounds just as great in 2012 on this song and by the way, that performance was towards the end of 2011, just goes to show your letting the '2010 being better' myth into your head.

if you think 2010 overall Axl's voice wasnt better than anything we have had since RIR you are either deaf or delusional. I've seen the band once in 2010 and twice in 2011 and once in 2012... Although all were good performances nothing can touch 2010, that is a fact

  3. Bumblefoot:

Drained of passion & desire, way too many nails in the coffin on this tour. Need to get home & recharge my batteries. Love you all :)

Why is he drained of passion and desire? Is it possible that some of these "nails in the coffin" could involve conflicts with other band members? Or maybe this is all still about the pain he's suffering from the car accident :nervous:

IMO when Ron write cryptic tweets like this, its a bit irresponsible. He very well may be referring the constant pain he is in, and I understand first hand the pain he has. I had a neck fusion surgery and deal with back and neck pain daily. There is too much people can read into this tweet and only attracts negativity.

  4. jarmo is deleting member because he is a dictator there are not a democracy in that forum

Jarmo, runs his site the way he wants to run it... He has received unprecedented access to his favorite band... He will defend Axl to the end because he believes in Axl and NuGuns, albeit blindly (at times) believes in them. I honestly only check his site to see if tour dates are legit or not. He kind of lost me when he started deleting negative comments regarding the RIR show, kind of hard to defend that debacle IMO.

  5. I think at times Axl, when he writes, tries too hard. I mean, I've never really seen Axl make a totally fanciful song outside of Used to Love Her. What I mean is, Mick and Keith were able to survive musically cause they didn't have a fixation with telling the truth. They had fun with the music, and would tell stories. I mean, does anybody believe Mick Jagger was ever a "Street Fighting Man"? Most of their songs are rock n' roll fairy tales, but in a good way. It's imagery, creating an image. In the song, we can buy into Jagger as a badass. They have fun with the music, joke around; In Rock in general not many rockers take themselves or the music too seriously. It's all in fun, it's all an escape. For Axl, he really seems to try and pour his soul, or his life as it is at the moment, or his feelings, into a song. We'd never have a Honky Tonk Woman written by Axl in terms of just a song with mindlessly fun lyrics about shit that never happened. Given all this, do you think Axl takes music and himself way too seriously, way too honestly--and always has? Is it a part of the appeal of W. Axl Rose--that everything he writes is genuine shit from his POV?

    Fair question:

Too seriously? Not sure how anyone can say "too seriously" when it comes to one's craft or the way they make a living. honestly I dont think Axl takes it too seriously, I think Axl uses his music to express his feelings. Which is probably quite draining. IMO Chinese was a mix of Axl being hurt by his break up with Stephanie, to the band falling apart, and the bad press. So its not a matter of being too serious its more of a matter of facing or expressing his demons. Hopefully now that Axl has gotten those emotion out, the next album will be more fun for him.

  6. Seems everyone defends Oh My God saying its just a demo, But werent all of those leaks around 05 or whatever passed off as demos? Then finally cd dropped a few years later and all we got were the same Axl vocals, Mostly same guitars with some additions and changes here and there and a pile of synth/ effects over them?

Why on earth would a muti platinum act authorise a demo to be put on a soundtrack? I say it didn't get the reaction they hoped for so (same as the cd leaks) so they called it a demo.

I couldn't agree more - it wasn't a demo and if it were a big hit we would have had CD much earlier than we did. I can understand people liking it but don't defend it as most didn't like it

Because it was not polished or unfinished. That's just an excuse

  7. The USA tour IMO Axl's voice was much better than Now. Orlando arena show he sounded great, I was w/ friends that weren't huge GnR fans and had my son w/ me. All said Axl sounded just like he does on the albums and were very impressed. IMO he was good and had his subpar moments but I noticed more because I had seen them a few times I guess. honestly this Euro tour I feel Axl's voice has gotten worse as the has tour progressed. Not sure what the deal is, makes u hope if there is a new album in the works that the vocals are already recorded.

The scary thing is that according to Baz he's already recorded 'insane, highest ever, screaming' vocals for The General years ago and now he's gotta pull that shit off in his mid 50s+.

This thread gives me hope that all he's doing now is saving his voice for when it counts i.e. new album and hopefully some proper promotion etc.

The funny thing is the reviews for the US tour were fantastic and all said how amazing his voice was so if he can get away with singing clean falsetto with everyone but the hardcore nutters like us then why shouldn't he? The reality is if he continues singing as he is now he could likely carry on well into his 60s wheras if he carried on as he was in 2010 he'd be lucky to make 55 without losing a whole shitload of range.

That's the hope I have, he's saving his voice. Personally I think that is wishful thinking though. I guess we'll see what happens

  8. The USA tour IMO Axl's voice was much better than Now. Orlando arena show he sounded great, I was w/ friends that weren't huge GnR fans and had my son w/ me. All said Axl sounded just like he does on the albums and were very impressed. 9. He's come close, but IMO, he's never EVER touched the epic beauty of a song like Ten Years Gone...I think when he's writing about someone or something he misses, even with Estranged, he tries too hard. Somehow, Ten Years Gone is beautiful lyrically despite being so simple. I'd love to see him tackle something like it, or even just plain cover the song. Can you imagine the harmony section (the ten guitar parts layered and overdubbed masterfully by Jimmy Page) redone by Buckethead?

Am I missing something?? I've never heard of 10 years gone

  10. Why not the vocal distortion? Why not the industrial guitar sound? I think it's pretty great. I think the solo (or lack thereof) on the demo was the only area that could be improved, it sounded video-gamey and not really like a fit for the rest of the song.

I don't buy the whole "it's a demo" the song was officially released to a sound track. If it was a demo shame on Axl for releasing a subpar product under the GnR name. I think the song sounds like its suppose to, there is a reason it's not played live and didn't make it on Chinese. The general public didnt like it! I personally think the song had potential but Axl ruined with all the distortion, that's my opinion.

  11. Ok with all this CD talk latley.

The album could be one hell of a monster. But there is to much shit going on, tracks sounds undone.

What would make CD awsome would be like:

    CD

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Qyyd0eDTBM&feature=related

    IRS

    Earlie version of CITR

    Scraped

    TWAT

    Sorry

Not saying in this order but this songs + songs we obv havent heard ejet. Rest of the album is crap to me

I like prostitute but its not good enough, or it just dosent fit in. Hard to put my finger on it something is just very wrong.

When listening to GNR music you imagen a angry Axl Rose screaming hes lungs out. Not some little mouse struggling thru SOD.

So to end it. Wrong songs has made it to the actual cd. To bad :(

IMO OMG starts off great but as soon as Axl starts singing the song goes down hill. Why the vocal distortion? why the industrial sounding guitars as the vocals start? If the song would have built off the beginning it could have been good, but like a lot whats on CD the song just has too much going on. Sometimes less is more.

  12. The perfect combination of AFD and UYI with a whole new sound. Normally bands evolve, forgetting the past the express the band in a completely new way. GNR couldn't do that so they changed a few members for each record. On UYI they brought in Sorum and Dizzy. On CD they got virtually a whole new band. Problem solved. This allowed them to make the ultimate 90s classic rock album.

If you think Chinese is the best GnR album of all time, who am I stay your opinion is wrong? I think it is a good album but no where near AFD or UYI but thats my opinion. Not sure I agree with the " virtually a whole new band. Problem solved"

  13. I don't think Axl is naive enough to think he can hold a second album over a record label as a bargaining chip like they did with CD. What I can't understand, is take a look around the music world, and realize the amount of pure crap that is released every week, and I'm talking stuff that doesn't even have a snowball's chance of selling as many as a new GNR record would in it's first week. I have no huge expectations that a new album would sell a million copies in it's first week or anything, but I think with the right single, and a record label backing them up with the right promotion, they could pull a rabbit out of a hat and very realistically sell more copies than they did with CD. CD was an entirely weird, freak circumstance, Axl blames the label for all the trouble, the label blames Axl for all the trouble, it was like they were at a stalemate in a game of chess. In a world where anyone that wants to can put out an album (heck, Lita Ford just put out a new album!!), I don't see any legit reason GNR can't, and it not be halfway successful. It's all a giant mystery to me...

I'm sure the label realizes that GnR is still profitable if promoted the right way. IMO take Slash and how he promoted his recent solo album. The guy went all over the world and answered all the questions. Slash did what he had to do and still only sold what 40k records the first week?? Is Axl willing to make videos? Is axl willing to travel the world to promote his baby? And at the end of the day maybe sell 200k albums in a week? I doubt it! That's the issue is Axl would have to play the game for the label to invest in the production and logistics of a new album. I feel a new album could do well but it would require promo and Axl getting out and doing some press

There's also a lot less money spent on recording sessions and videos when they're not getting the major label backing. Slash does enough festival shows and appearances to make a nice living from the road, enough in endorsement deals and royalties to maintain a rock star lifestyle. They're not clipping coupons at the Hudson house, esp. from the way Perla made it sound when she "camped" at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

I agree Slash is far from poor... my only point was look at all the promo he does, granted he owns the label in the USA so that might make him more eager to promote. Axl just wont do what it takes to promote a major label release. I honestly doubt there will be a new GnR album that isnt some sort of Greatest Hits collection. I hope I'm wrong but I doubt it... Axl said in the past that he's not a whore for the limelight and only talks to the press when he has something to promote, well I think a new album would fall into that category.

  14. Slash and Duff would probably need to sign off on it- but the best scenario IMHO would be to release a "Best of" GN'R cd with an "A-list" track or two from the new band as bonus tracks at the end or whatever...

    Old band makes $$$

    Axl makes $$$

    Record label makes $$$

New band gets some great promotion/exposure

Not a bad idea... Part of the resentment between fans is the animosity of Axl and Slash. Think of how the new guys would be received by the average fan if there were not issues between Axl and Slash? Even so far as Slash supporting NuGuns but just preferring to be on his own or a different band?

New band would get some great exposure. Just like they would have had Axl preformed at the HOF. Instead they continue to get mostly bad press. Kind of a shame, really!

  15. not to mention most best buys sold out of chinese well over a year ago and it hasnt been available on bestbuy.com since the beginning of 2011.

That's because Best Buy sold them all to Dollar Tree and Dollarama, who then tried to sell them for $1. I'm sure there are loads and loads sitting in bargain bins at Dollar Trees all over the country.

    6421434_f260.jpg

    Source?

best buy liquidated all of their remaining copies of Chinese Democracy. The later turned up in dollar stores across the US. Google it, there are several accounts from various sources describing this. Although i'm sure some of you will claim that these reports were fabricated as part of the conspiracy against Axl. :rofl-lol:

the most Dollar Tree would have paid is .25 for their lot of CD's. the best case would have been .50 but i highly doubt that

  16. there was much more to the BB deal than meets the eye, but it's really not my place to get into details.

1.3 million was not the original batch. 1.3 million was the total amount BB paid for. we don't know if the full 1.3 million were manufactured up front or not though. bestbuy.com would have no reason to stop selling the album if people were buying it. they sold out. at $1.99 they were bound to sell out quickly as lots of liquidators and exporters were buying huge amounts of the album at that price.

bestbuy.com would stop selling an album online due to lack of sales... the albums have to be held in a best buy warehouse, Im not that familiar with BB's procedures but I have an import company and have had dealing with Walmart.com and Amazon and other online retailers. Product is housed in warehouses and if a product isnt selling like it was projected it will be replaced quickly because space is so valuable. ITs not as valuable as actual store space but its still very valuable. Warehouses do not let things sit believe me. Did BB sell off the product? probably but if they sold it to liquidators it was for pennies on the dollar, it would have been no where near the retail of $1.99. That was BB trying to move product themselves but anything they sold to liquidators or exporters was for way less than $1.99.

  17. not to mention most best buys sold out of chinese well over a year ago and it hasnt been available on bestbuy.com since the beginning of 2011.

Sold out or simply stopped putting it out? BB bought millions of copies of CD. Don't get me wrong I like CD but sold out is

    not accurate

BB did not buy millions of copies of CD.

they paid up front for 1.3 million copies.

we don't know how many of those 1.3 million were manufactured up front.

The BB deal was quoted at bein worth 10 - 15 mil if not more. U may be correct that they original batch was for 1.3 mil albums but they never sold through that and the album ultimately was pulled off the shelf due to lack of sales it didn't sell out. There is a big difference.

  18. not to mention most best buys sold out of chinese well over a year ago and it hasnt been available on bestbuy.com since the beginning of 2011.

Below is an article I read a while back regarding the stage production from Asia and Canada. As the article states only Asia and Canada got the full original production of what Axl wanted the stage to be. It basically came down to money and the logistics of moving the stage. I feel fortunate to have witnessed this production first hand in Toronto. Seeing what it consisted of and the how massive the stage was, and what all went into putting it together made it seem like it took A LOT of money to put a show on. I've never seen anything like it at an arena show. No expense was spared for this production

    Its a good article... ENJOY!
