  1. Is normally hard for fãs take pictures with he?

During Brazilian Tour all we have won was "no photos" only coletives photos Me and my friends were shock with his awful treatment to us. At hotel saturday morning after show were almost 20 fas waiting for him, but in the exit he passed fast e got in the car. On the other hand Myles was smiles and photos for everybody. I never met an artist like he before, what humble and gentleman person!I hope Myles will have all sucess in this world, he deserves.

I met Slash before his show in Jacksonville FL, I had an original AFD Vinyl. At first he was hesitant and said "if I sign for you now, I'll have to sign for everyone" but non-the-less he took it and signed and and had no problem taking pictures... He didnt pose with me per-se but I got some pics. His handler and Slash both said that Slash would be happy to sign anything but after the show. I was glad he signed it and I didnt have to wait around after the show. Guys was super nice

  2. Just wanted to say thanks again to everyone on this board. You guys are awesome. I really appreciate the support, and even more so the well wishes. I just spent the day hopping from one hospital to the other to see my parents. My dad is a tough bastard, and I'm sure he will be ok. My mom however, in all likelihood, has a terminal brain disease called Lewy Bodies Disease which no one has ever heard of, but is actually the second most diagnosed neurological disorder behind Alzheimers. It's a real motherfucker of a disease, and she is in pretty bad shape. Like I said, this trip was basically about 3 things. Getting the fuck out of Dodge for a few days to get my mind off shit, seeing GnR, and celebrating my friend's brother in law's 21st birthday. My friend wanted/needed me to be there so much he bought me the plane tickets and the hotel room after I told him there is no way I can afford to go right now. After he had that mic taken away I knew it was up to me to get it back for him. It was like fate. Honestly, in retrospect this whole thing was meant to be, including having it taken away and getting it back. This story is perfect. I wouldn't change a thing about it.

Now, just need to get it, frame it all up, and give it to my friend.

I honestly wish I could post the voicemail I got from the Hard Rock. It is easily the favorite voicemail I have ever got. Apolgizing profusly for any inconvenience, confirming my address, leaving personal cell numbers to call in case I have any issues, and stating repeatedly that it is the band and its management that is sending it back to me. Just totally badass. You could basically hear how the band must have had a nice little sit down about this shit, and how it would be stopping, now, in her voice. Sensational.

    GnR forever.

Happy for you! Sorry to hear about your parents. I lost my dad a month ago and its a tough thing to go through. Stay strong!

  3. The life style that they lead takes a lot on money to keep up

This point is very important. People think oh Axl doesnt need money! BS it takes a lot of money to live like he does. It takes a lot of money to put on the shows Axl likes to preform. Money has to keep coming in to maintain a certain lifestyle. GnR is a corporation just like any other business and if that corporation doesnt have a constant stream of funds it will fall apart. In the end I think Money will have a lot more to do with a GnR reunion than any of us would like to think/ believe

  4. Any clue as to why Doug and the tour managers would want Slash and Duff to sign the contract? Do you think Goldstein knew that Slash and Duff may leave the band, and he wanted to keep GNR intact, with who he saw as its most valuable member, Axl, at the helm?

IMO management put the idea in Axl's head. Because if one or both died it would have created a huge legal matter w/ who could move forward w/ the name Guns n Roses. Management was trying to ensure the cash cow could stay alive w/o Slash and Duff.

  5. The problem was, by the time this employee contract thing came around, the band was already on life support. But earlier than that, Izzy had been presented with a contract that reduced his standing in the band along similar lines, and he walked away. I think if Izzy had stayed, the others would've thought about staying a little harder.

i agree the band was falling apart at that time. Also egos played a huge roll: Slash bringing the SnakePit album in and wanting it to be the next GnR record is a prime example. Im sure Slash and Duff would have agreed to the "employee" status if things weren't so chaotic at the time. They didnt agree w/ huge touring budgets and million dollar videos anyway so I could see Slash and duff agreeing to a certain take home like the guys take now only difference is they would be making a lot more than these guys make. But GnR would be generating a lot more income with Slash and duff in the band so IMO it all works out in the end.

I saw the show and immediatly though of GnR as well. IMO I don't believe it's what Vince ultimately wants. I'm sure he would prefer equal share and band ownership. The Crüe went through a rough time for a while and this is how things shook out for Vince for whatever reason.

In regards to GnR. I think the band could have continued even w/ Axl owning the name as long as everyone else had equal share. My understanding is Axl quit GnR and asked Slash and Duff to join his new version of GnR as "employees". That didn't go over well. I think when u take all the things going on Slash drug use, Duff getting sober and focusing on his family, and Izzy being long gone and Axl dealing w/ lawsuits and whatever emotional issues he had at the time. That all created the perfect storm for GnR to emplode

They'd all say Motley is Nikki's band, he writes the songs and put the thing together, apart from Mick's condition, Tommy and Vince quit the band, but they also appreciate what they have. Vince on his own plays clubs, Tommy was ahead of the game in doing DJ gigs, if anything, he might be the first high profile person that others have followed. Interesting that he's bringing some of that into the band, but it doesn't hurt them, either.

What matters is that it's fun for them, and I'm sure Nikki would say it's still hard work, but everyone knows what they have to do when they get together. Vince knows the money he makes with them go to fund his other projects, which are very expensive.

They might have gone through their ups and downs, but being able to play large venues is a privilege, and you can tell they don't take it for granted. Vince said he's ready to call it a day, but I think when they actually start thinking about it and assessing it, they change their minds about it.

I'd rather see a band go "see us now, we're touring like crazy because we don't know what we're doing next" instead of announcing a farewell tour.

I agree.. Motley went through a time when Tommy was not in the band in the mid-to-late 90's. I remember them rolling into town and playing a club down the road from me. i couldnt believe Motley was playing this place. I think they had some chick drummer or something. Anyway I think the guys in Motley (employees or not) figured out that together they can play big arena's and generate more revenue. Axl/GnR doesnt seem to care and seems to take more satisfaction out of the fact that he's preventing Slash from a huge payday than cashing in on one himself.

  6. I posted this on the thread dedicated to the Vegas residency(as well as on the other main GnR message board), but think this deserves it's own thread here as well.

My buddies and I flew out to Vegas this weekend and went to the Saturday night show. I've been to like 10 GnR shows, all in the NYC area previously. I'll give the band credit. They really brought it. 3 plus hours. Lot of intensity. Sounded really good, although if I'm being totally honest Axl sounded better as the concert went on. November Rain from the suspended piano 8' above my head was just ridiculous.

At the end of the show Axl tosses the mic into the crowd like he always does. Every single show I have ever been to it has been my dream to grab it. It lands like 10 feet away from my friend and I. The guy standing next to us picks it up and my buddy immediatly says "I'll give you $100 for that right now." Amazingly the guy says '"Sure". He gives it to us. We have the fucking thing. We are jubiliant. We are extatic. 5 seconds later security walks over and orders us to give him the mic back.

I have seen Axl toss the mic at EVERY show I have been to, and I have never seen security ask for it back. Complete and utter fucking bullshit.

Why throw the fucking thing into the crowd and cause a goddamn riot if you are just gonna ask for it back? Forget about the thing breaking or getting stepped on. The guy gave us our $100 back, but it ruined what would have been the single greatest concert experience of my life.

Here's the bottom line, at least from my perspective. If Axl wants to come out at midnight and play until 3AM, that's fine by me. That's how rock n' roll is supposed to be. The hardcore sawdust and beer, late as fuck, rock music culture that I love and is one of the core reasons why I love Axl and GnR. Basically maintaining that image is the only thing he apparently DOES give a fuck about. It what Axl prides himself on.

You can't have it both ways though. It's either balls to the wall rock n' roll, or it's corporate money making. Throwing a mic into a crowd at 3AM, only to ask for it back is basically 180 degrees from what Axl and GnR stand for.

I understand Axl may not know they are confiscating the mic after he tosses it, but he should. It's his image and good name they are fucking with when pull this shit with his biggest fans.

Anyway, I know it's a serious long shot, but I was hoping some of you guys could post what happened to us on the places known to be read by members of the band. I'm positive there is video of security taking it from us out there somewhere if proof was required that we had it, and it was taken away from us by security.

I know I'm never gonna be that close to nabbing the mic again, and if I don't at least try and inform Axl/GnR/The GnR Team about how my friend and I had our Holy Grail taken away from us on Saturday night I'll never be able to live with myself.

Thanks in advance for whatever assistance we get.

I feel for you... ive always wanted to catch the mic or whistle. Reading some of the post it seems this is an issue with The Joint and not GnR. I saw someone catch the mic at the HOB in Orlando and no one confiscated it. Mics are expensive but they are not so much that the band cant afford to throw it into the crowd. I use to work in security at clubs/ bars in my younger years and there was always ways security guys made money off customers. I worked VIP area of the club and would charge people to let them in, some would take people's ecstasy pills and sell them back, some would sell underage kids 21-up bracelets. Point is non of us did things that the person before us didnt tell us about. Seems like this is a scam at the Joint

  7. Okay, first of all if you go to a rock show or any show and you don't know who the hell is in the band, then you don't fuckin belong there!

I mean, come the hell on. It's been 20 years or more since Slash has been in GNR and you have to live under a rock if you don't know that. Slash has had many bands since then and yes it's true Axl has had many band members come and go since then, but to still think Slash is in GNR, you just have to be plain stupid.

As for the beer gut, where? I don't see one. Yes, Axl isn't as thin as he was in the 80's, but he's not fat.

Has anyone seen Vince Neil lately? Please. No one seems to mind Vince's fat ass trying to run around the stage.

It's a fact of life as you get older you gain weight, then when you get really old you lose it again. That's life! It sucks yes, but at least Axl and many of us have had our hey day and at least Axl is alive and well and still doing what he loves and I for one am damn glad he is!

Wow! Have you not been to many shows? Ive seen Nuguns 5 times and every show had people that didnt know Slash was no longer in the band. In the end they ended up not caring and enjoyed the show.

Beer gut? Hmm well Axl does have somewhat of a beer gut... is he fat? No but hes not in great shape either. I wouldnt take what these writers say so personally. GnR is a nostalgia act nowadays and thats OK. The Vegas shows are over-the-top like Vegas should be.

  8. I saw the show and immediatly though of GnR as well. IMO I don't believe it's what Vince ultimately wants. I'm sure he would prefer equal share and band ownership. The Crüe went through a rough time for a while and this is how things shook out for Vince for whatever reason.

  9. Many people keep making excuses for Axl like his age or the fact that he play's 3 hour shows.

Axl's voice when he was 48 was killer. It was full of rasp and power. He still had the signature growl in his voice that was awesome, and sometime he sang so good it was like it was the 90's. His age is not a factor at all. I don't see how in 2 years a person can lose all his power in his voice. That's the key word too, "power." Sometimes you still hear the rasp, but the power of his voice, even with the clean vocals, seems to be deteriorating. It's unfortunate too, because he's such a great frontman, but it seems like every week his raspy voice (the one many people associate with Axl Rose) is going away. I don't know what happened, it is a throat problem, sickness, or he's just doesn't want to push his voice anymore?

I dont know the exact answer... but my opinion is that Axl really prepared for 2010 vocally. He seemed to be in decent shape and was ready to go. People like to say he started slow in 2009 in Asia and that may be true but nothing like RIR. I think at the end of the day he's taking care of his voice but not doing what he needs to, to have the rasp and power. I thought is voice was decent in 2011/ 2012 live but now in Vegas its just off to me. Im sure like all live shows he sounds good to the audience and thats what matters most. but I find myself less excited about seeing this band live.

  10. Sturgis and Reading werent representative of '10 at all for Axl. They were aberrations. Anybody who followed '10 knows that. He also wasnt great at the beginning during the Asian and Canadian leg. He ripped through S America and Europe, though.

I'll disagree... Toronto 2010 was by far the best vocal performance Ive personally heard Axl sing. Better than anything I saw in the 2011/ 2012. Sound was awesome!

  11. Why does it matter that capacity for the show in question was 1500 if only 600 people bought tickets?

    AEG Live

I was at that show... Not a lot of people at that show for sure. in 2006 GnR played the Veterans Coliseum in Jacksonville and only sold a little over 2K tickets and 500 of those were on the floor. They ended up giving tickets away they day of the show so there was a decent crowd. I dont hold the ticket sales against GnR or Slash Jacksonville is just a slow market for rock shows. Ozzy had a hard time selling tickets as well last year with Slash opening.

  12. I would be surprised if Axl was not given a guaranteed payday for the shows in advance so it may not matter how many tickets the shows sold but I still can't believe they did not sell out those shows in Vegas at such a small venue especially with all publicity. That is a head scratcher.........

I'm very surprised at those numbers. Only the complete die-hard Axl fans would somehow twist them to imply that numbers-wise it is a success. Less than 2,800 people per show? Wow.

Not saying that the band isn't putting on a great show. From most reports they are. But in terms of ticket sales......wow. Has to be dissapointing for everybody who has a financial interest in this residency.

If you average the 3 shows it only comes to 484 tickets not sold per show. They sold 8387 out of 9839 which equals 1452 tix unsold over 3 shows. Not too bad if you ask me thats 85% capacity. Pretty good start and as long as sales stay like this, the residency will be a success for all.

  13. So I went to the hrh to get a night cap before heading to bed.

And who do I see ? Dizzy reed !

He was playing that roulette . He looked at me and I was like yup that's him.

So I get my beer and watch him and when he gets up I notice his kids are with him, so I walk by him , give him a head nod and say hi, big fan of your music and his kids start laughing at me.

Ugh. Feel like a 13 year old girl right now.

I met Dizzy in Greenville, SC: I happened to be in town on business on the day of their show. He was walking down the highway by the mall. I was like Holy shit that's Dizzy Reed!" So I circled around and saw him standing under a tree in the front of the mall parking lot, I said "hey Dizzy Reed?" He was a complete flake, not sure if he was really stoned or what. Anyway we talked for a moment and I told him I saw them in Orlando and asked about the show tonight in Greenville, he said he didnt know if they were playing???? All in all he was walking to find something to eat. Keep in mind the mall in Greenville is not all that close to the Bi-Lo Center. Also they have catering at all gigs so I think he was just walking around aimlessly. Not a bad guy or anything just seemed a bit off. I had my ticket from the Orlando show but after talking with him no longer had the desire for him to sign it.

  14. In first 3 shows GNR had very high ticket prices and great attendance about 3.000 people per night...Great for GNR

not bad thats roughy 70% full for each show. I would imagine Fri and Sat shows are close to sellouts with Wednesday selling the least. All in all the shows will be profitable for all... Vegas doesnt do anything that loses money. In the end if the HardRock has a few extra thousand people in their Casino buying drinks and Gambling 3X's a week due to these shows they will make alot of money. With only 2K people if they average person spends $50 thats 100K in revenue right there not including ticket prices

  15. GNR now uses the isolated guitar cabs. They switched right around the time Axl went from singing with rasp to not, so it helped him be able to hear himself over the guitar. So if you go to a GNR show you could most likely just hear the guitar itself without distortion if you're up close because there's no live cabs on stage.

Also GNR has theee best quality of equipment. In the Richard thread you see that they were able to test out everything under the sun and go with what they liked best.

What is an isolated guitar cab? Besides allowing Axl to hear himself better what exactly is different? I saw guns in Toronto in 2010 and that show by FAR had the best overal sound u could hear Axl clear as a bell. Then I saw them in 2011 in orlando and greenvile and UCAP in 2012 Orlando all those shows the sound was never as good as Toronto. Not that it was bad but Axl was definetly buried in the mix more.

  16. Only saving his voice so it will last a whole tour. We know what happened during the 90s when he blew out his voice. Maybe with age he has realized he can't go to hard on the rasp if he is to be able to last through a whole tour? I don't know, but I certainly find that theory more plausible than the "can't bother" hypothesis.

I feel confident Axl is trying to and wants to do his best every time he walks up on a stage. He even did two gigs when he was feeling ill, right before 12 gigs in Vegas. Doesn't sound like a man who's saving his voice or who can't be bothered.

Not to mention he keeps on booking new tours all the time, rather than making albums. Saving his voice? Nah.

Oh, I am certain he wants to give his best, but not if it means blowing out his voice so he will be really bad for the rest of the tour...

So how was he able to sing from December 2009 to December 2010 with full rasp and no problems?

IMO Axl still has the full force rasp like when singing WTTJ but he's lacking the mid-range rasp like when singing PC... I think he can do it when he wants but agree that its probably a straining issue with his voice and he doesnt want to blow his voice out. I do not believe it is an effort thing, one thing about Axl no matter what time he hits the stage he gives his all.

  17. OK... Why does this picture automatically represent sexual abuse? I dont see it as rape, I know a lot do and I get that but in the end its a waitress sitting on the ground with a robot standing over her.

why would they even pick that one to use? Oh right, controversy...

When I saw that they went w/ that pic my first thoughts were because the original AFD cover depicts the classic members.
