That's an interesting and possibly accurate way to see things.

My question was more about the actual business perspective though....e.g who is running this band and makes the final decisions.

The Big Three might be equal in terms of making all the decisions after Slash and Duff joined.

I imagine they play a game of scissors, paper, rock and the winner takes control of that particular business decision.

How can anyone actually respect Axl Rose? Seriously, we've all put up with so much of his fuckery. His sideshow band, his mediocre album, his shot voice, his temper tantrums, his sham cash grab reunion. Guy is lucky to have any fans at this point.

    Seriously, fuck Axl.

Maybe you should go find another band to be a fan of?

This I Love was written in 1992. It's unknown if Slash had written/played on it or if it was just Axl on the piano. It was going to be used in a Robin Williams movie in 1998, but, according to Dave Dominguez, when Axl heard a line in the end about Stephanie Seymour, he told him to erase it (it's not clear if the whole song or part of it was erased). Then Axl abandoned the idea of recording the song for a long time, until he was convinced by Robin Finck and Tommy to do so. So definitely This I Love wasn't one of the songs Axl wanted on the album in 2001.

I haven't read anything about Prostitute or TWAT predating the CD era. Prostitute was developed in the Youth era, as well as Madagascar.

Back and Forth again was used on "It's Five O' Clock Somewhere", so why would Axl have wanted to work on that.

But I think that Oklahoma definitely might have been one of them, as, according to Dominguez, it was written before the very first CD studio sessions started.

I generally doubt that it was one of the songs that are on CD, because the songs Marc Canter referred to were songs Slash already had been part of, and I don't think Axl would have put Slash songs on the album without Slash playing them.

Oklahoma was also written when he was going through divorce. I remember that from somewhere too now.

According to Marc Canter, those songs were songs Slash had written parts on before he left (or based on Slash ideas):

Axl was cracking the door open and saying to me  “If  Slash apologizes publicly for the things he said about me in the press I have three songs that he could play on the new album”.  They were three songs that Slash had written on and Axl wanted to do something with them and include them on Chinese Democracy which would have been cool.

So this excludes at least most of the songs we know. Maybe it was Oklahoma and/or Hardschool, Quick Song maybe, or maybe 1-2 other songs we don't know.

Pretty sure I read rough versions of prostitute and this i love had been kicking around before slash left the band in the 90s.

Not sure of the third track.

Jeez this has been going on longer than that. People were bitching about the setlist back during the uyi tour 😂 and they actually did switch shit out a lot more back then on that tour and they still bitched. It'll never end. People gonna bitch. Even if they do start switching things up someday there's still gonna be folks bitching about it

They will have the people bitch that this or that song was removed/replaced then lol

I was sober for more than a year but I figured life is too short to live like a monk. Before that I drank one glass each day, which was too much. Now, I drink once a month, when we hold a party with family or friends. It breaks the routine somewhat I guess.

But alcohol addiction sucks. you get fat, you're getting dependend on the substance and it damages your mind. Enjoy, but with measure and caution.

I have health reasons (liver) so I cant touch the stuff any more. Not worth it for me.

As long as others can control their substances theres no reason why you cant enjoy it in moderation.

Really sad for him and his family. Happy he's address it.

Anyone up for Sober October? Will prolly still post this somewhere with more traffic, but it seems relevant to this thread. Its basically as simple as a group of people abstaining from drink and weed but there can be a points system or other challenged if the group wants!

Ive been sober since feb 2018. Maybe thats cheating if i played.

I’m pretty sure releasing a new album would please everyone.

There will still be the complainers dont you worry.

People upset they didnt use CD leftovers. People upset it doesnt sound like appetite. People upset theres no rasp. People upset over the drumming/bass/vocals/guitar tone it goes on lol.

Sometimes theres no pleasing some of the fans.

Ikr, but his energy and movement were always big part of his performance. Seeing him so lifeless is just kinda weird. But yeah the most important thing is his voice and it was good at this show.

Maybe his realized now his older he sings better not running around and being short of breath.

Remember 2016 him in the chair and in acdc he didnt run around and sounded excellent.
