I'm not exactly a huge fan of Ron's solo career, but that doesn't mean I don't think he shouldn't be making music in some capacity. If he really feels that he can't work around GnR then he needs to leave. Hanging on, with the hope that Axl might randomly wake up one day and decides to release new music is only going to make him more bitter, if / when that doesn't come to pass. As a person who only occasionally thinks about GnR and whether Axl will or won't ever release new music, I can't really comprehend how frustrating it must be to be so closely involved and to have a large chunk of one's legacy depend on the whim (okay, so CD II won't exactly be a whim if it happens, but you know what I mean) of someone like Axl. Which, part of this is on Ron, going into the band at that stage you would have to have some grasp on the MO (granted, CD dropping 2 years into his tenure likely skewed things). And while I don't agree with some of his tactics, at the end of the day he's pushing for the same things that a lot of fans want.

Yeah, media_guy wasn't exactly entirely forthcoming with info on those (not that they have to be). Well, they were at first (the original auction actually had a pic with 3 of the Red Hand CDs showing) and then idk. Which they did have several (at least a couple) of auctions starting at $1 or whatever.
But yeah, GnR don't exactly have a huge amount of merch beyond the typical stuff, so the mythical Red Hand alt artwork CD is pretty cool imo.

I'd imagine BBF trying to talk to Axl usually goes something like this:
-
All of the limited edition Leatherface toys in the world will not get Buckethead back in the band.
-
On the topic of whether he has submitted compositions for GUNS N' ROSES to record for the band's next studio album, Thal told Khaleej Times: "I wanted to get together as a band, I didn't want to submit my songs for the band to play. I wanted the band to write as a band so it would truly be a band. But we're just too busy with touring and other things, and it just didn't happen."
No one alive can put a good spin on this part.
Yeah it just further solidifies how much of a non-entity GNR is nowadays besides live shows. They can't even get together to write music together. I know that the GNR has tons of already recorded tunes apparently "ready to go" (which I sorta doubt anyway) but still no good comes from a band that won't even write music together
I dunno, isn't that kinda consistent with what Finck said? (and what was going on even earlier, I'd have to look through the Chinese Whispers excerpts) Joining the band in 06 and expecting the band to jam / rehearse / make music as a unit seems to be kind of unreasonable (at least by nuGnR standards).

Hey, fan here .
Man, I'm kinda split on HoW, it's not exactly a great show, but it has enough about it to like that I keep watching.
That said, I think Season 4 could shape up to be the best one yet. Hopefully they will dumb things down / simplify
the storyline into good guys vs. bad guys and let it play out to a satisfying conclusion. My main problem with the show
in the past is that they never really fully develop the plotlines, they kinda just have mini-arcs which last 3-4 episodes and
the larger storylines either fizzle out or they fail to weave them together into something meaningful, at least that's my take.
Huge fan of the Swede though, Christopher Heyerdahl is a great actor.

Not a huge fan of his stand up, but he was a great, somewhat underrated actor, one of my favorites.
Before his death, I was recently rewatching some of his lesser known roles ie World's Greatest Dad, Insomnia, One Hour Photo, The Night Listener, etc. He's known for his comedy, but he was equally as great, if not better, at dramatic roles.
But yeah, the world lost an immense talent, feels like part of my childhood has been ripped out, RIP.

I remember reading up on early GnR a few years ago and just being like "whoa, these guys are cool"
But yeah, as I've often seen repeated, given how intense everything was it's surprising they all made it
out alive (unless they didn't, dun dun dun).

Sometimes people deserve more, sometimes people deserve to have their faith rewarded.
lol oh man I bought one of those redemption cards after seeing the topic on here and started feeling like a
dummy afterwards but Axl came through!!!

CD II / Bucket-Finck material or bust.
Okay, not really, I'll take whatever we get at this point, but I really liked CD and since that was the whole grand vision for the evolution of the band it'd be disappointing to not hear it in its entirety, especially when some of the info floating around seems so interesting/positive. If Axl shifts gears and makes music with the new band then all things considered I'd have to imagine it'd be more conventional and less ambitious.
I don't think Going Down is necessarily indicative of the direction of the band, though. If you only listened to This I Love would you have really anticipated how the rest of CD was going to sound?

oh lol, he's gotta compete with DJ I guess
-
I liked BBF's beanie and suitjacket look tbh

Figures I look at this thread right after I cave and order it lol

Fuck yes , congrats Axl

Spirit fingers up everybody

" lead guitarist Ron BumblefootThal"
Shots fired -
They're milking it a bit with the Producer / PRO packages. Which I guess the former is
reasonable (well, considering the t-shirt is overpriced at $40 on the actual GnR website).
But they want $80 before shipping, I'd imagine they're charging $20-25 for s/h, didn't bother
checking. If you want a good laugh go into the merch section on the fantracks site lol, they've
got the Appetite for Democracy shirt listed at $80 by itself, and a couple others (hoodies for $140).
As for the "Pro" package, I'm not sure how adding some crappy headphones is supposed to
increase it by $80 bucks. Professional ripoff. Just seems sort of random. So yeah, I'll probably
just go with the bare bones Blu Ray. Too bad they couldn't put together a unique bundle
of merch instead of going for the obvious cash-grab by slapping some stuff together though. -
Won't watch the video because I don't like seeing animals being beaten and shit.
That's actually the real reason why I stopped watching it. Laughing at bad music and video is great fun, but I can't handle that other shit. Carefully constructed and maintained ignorance is bliss.
You're not going to like Cannibal Holocaust then.
As for the video though, Giraffes or bust. Although I guess
they can't do anything with Giraffes (periscopes, maybe?)
The "this is for the wild ones" part has a weird Japanese-ish
accent / affect to it. idk

The only way CD Remix works is if it's either released simultaneously with CD II, or if GnR make it
expressly clear that the Remix album is just a teaser for the lead up to CD II. Anything that GnR
does is going to get attention, so it's not like the latter option is actually necessary. They can achieve
the same thing with Axl appearing on late night talk shows or wherever and reminding people that he
is still alive.
Unless it is just packaged with CD II I don't see anyone aside from hardcore GnR fans bothering with
the Remix disc. I really do want to hear the remix version of Madagascar that has the MLK quotes replaced
with Nicolas Cage quotes though.

I'm imagining an alternate universe where they got Atlas on CD and Scraped is a mythical vault song that everyone is still clamoring for.

This could've been a success but the reward structure was fucked up. Kevin should've just offered a $5-10 digital download for the Kickstarter from the get-go. Then from there offer the CD for like $20, limited quantity vinyl $40-50, etc. Plus it didn't seem like he had reached out to very many online forums, etc.
Hell, even Bumblefoot's Kickstarter to fund his crew (since the people running the tour messed him) over was successful.

Conan or Jimmy Fallon or somebody needs to let that guy lead their band for a week, or forever lol
-
What's Ron doing at around 0:23 , kinda looks like he's signaling to DJ to tune his guitar lol

Going Down, Blood & Betters
in GUNS N' ROSES - DISCUSSION & NEWS
Posted
Yeah, I dunno why people hate BITW so much. It's just (potentially) a small segment of a full song taken out of context. Seems like it kinda fits in with the other CD material though.
Going Down is okay, but it doesn't seem like CD to me. It's more like what I expect the post-CD (current lineup) stuff to sound like (more conventional). Not that that's a bad thing, but if I had a preference it would be towards the more experimental side of things.
