  1. "We really haven't really sat down to collaborate on songs yet. [...] I've just been working on where my head's at on things so I can approach the next record in a way that lets me go to farther extremes. [...] I wrote and recorded a new love song that I want on the next record called This I Love, that's the heaviest thing that I've ever done." (Axl, Hit Parader, 1993)

At the same interview he talks about vacations and Stephanie, which means they were stil together so he either wrote the song when they had a fight/issue/whatever but things were ok again or it's probably about Erin or someone else.

This interview was released in two parts. The beginning was inside a regular Hit Parader. The second part came at the next edition, in a mini special magazine dedicated only to Axl's interview, full of pics. I'm glad Robin did the solo, it's amazing.

  2. Last time Axl talked about this was when he was interviewed for Revolver Magazine some months ago so seems like it's still a project that might happen, hopefully! Here's it:

The new issue of Revolver features an exclusive interview with Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose–you can read an extended excerpt right here. In the interview, Rose reveals that GN’R have two new records already completed, a remix album of songs from 2008′s Chinese Democracy and what he calls “the second half of Chinese.”

    http://www.revolvermag.com/news/axl-rose-says-guns-n-roses-have-two-new-albums-completed.html

  3. The issue here is just one: I don't enjoy watching Queen songs with another singer but Freddie. Anyway who am I? One of the owners of Queen? No I'm just a fan. So if I don't agree I leave. I would never get inside a Queen forum to bitch to the rest of the band members. You know why? They don't deserve the bad treatment even if they suck now. They did make me very happy for many many years and they still do through old live performances and old CDs/LPs. What I don't understand is why fans of old GN'R keep on coming here to bitch on the current band and why fans who don't dig Slash anymore keep on bashing him too. I really hate Slash and I haven't heard anything from him for a long period of time (of course I'm not counting old Gn'R releases). So if I don't like the small things here and there I've listened it's obvious that I got more to do with my life than finding a Slash forum to bitch about "how he sucks playing", "how bad Miles is" ; etc. It's so simple: I don't dig Slash anymore so I won't go find out about him, I really don't care about this guy anymore, fuck him. I'm pro Guns N' Roses so that's what I'm interested in. If I shared the same negative thoughts some of you have about the current band I wouldn't be anywhere near the band. I would do the exactly thing I do with Queen: no more GN'R live, no more GN'R new releases, I would stick with the old stuff and that's it. I'm glad I still love GN'R both live and on studio and I'm very happy with all the achievements the band has done so far. But if you're not... grow some balls and move on instead of acting like a fuckin' teenage girl who lost the first boyfriend. If GN'R ain't the same for you anymore, the door is right there. The same way I left when Slash didn't fit my needs anymore. I know Skid Row still exists but I haven't heard more than 3 new songs without Sebatsian Bach and for me it's enough. I don't care about Skid Row as a band because for me the band doesn't exist without Sebastian. So I moved on, no more Skid Row in my life (unless I want to hear old shit). If you're not happy with GN'R move on and that's it. Same with Slash or anything else. Life's short. Enjoy it!

  4. Got my bluray this week from cduniverse. It was back ordered for almost 2 weeks but then arrived very quickly here in Brazil. The show is just AMAZING. The quality of the images and the quality of the sound and everything else kicks major ass, very very very well done. I’ve seen some of the videos online before and I can say that once you see those on a good tv with a good sound… it’s freaking good, no comparison !!! Axl and the band are on a very good mood, everybody’s doing a very good job, many cameras on the right position filming what needs to be filmed at the right time. I could see it louder than hell twice in a roll and I’m already ready for one more!!! The interviews are great as well and it’s good to see DJ, Ron, Tommy and Dizzy talking about Axl. The footage on the bluray is spectacular. A few friends that aren’t GN’R fans watched with me – they came to my house complaining that, back in the 90’s they hated the Tokyo VHS videos. Guess what: both loved it and one of them actually wants to buy the damn thing.
It’s so good to see a live official show after all those years and to see Chinese Democracy songs there as well (if I had to point one negative thing is that I wanted more CD songs but it’s ok). It’s a sense of “They did it” you know? A sense that justice has been made somehow (even more because Appetite for Democracy is on top of the charts). I have no idea of what stands in the future for the band (both live and at the studio) but it gave me this feeling of mission accomplished. It made me think of all the way since it started back in the end of the 90’s, Rock in Rio 3, the shows from 2002, 2006/07, the departures, the new guys (who aren’t new anymore), and everything else in between, not to mention the record that, at least for me, stands as the best Guns N’ Roses record ever – so far. Of course the mission accomplished feeling have its twists when you think of many things that went wrong (such as official videos for the CD songs, the release of CD, the booklet, fucked up managers from the past, record company, etc) but it also made me think of how many things we got very right since the early 00’s – the record, practically 6 years of touring the whole world in such a successful way (even without the proper support any band needs - and yes I know the CD tour ended some years ago), 2 Axl interviews for TV (and a cool Bud ad!) not to mention interviews for websites, the 2008 chats, the Revolver Magazine interview, an official website, the RNRHOF letter, the Golden Awards achievement award, the bluray, etc. With that said I’m not sure if the band wants to close this amazing huge and incredible chapter of the whole CD saga with the bluray or not, I just felt like this watching it (I still have hopes to see the right booklet out somehow, the remixes album, new songs with Bucket and Robin and Brain and Paul in, etc – let’s see what the sea will bring to us!).
It’s been one hell of a journey – I still remember the first time I read the words “Chinese Democracy” on a Rolling Stone magazine back in 2000. I enjoyed the title and felt something good was about to come but could never predict that it was going to be so amazing. I feel like ROUND II is over now and GN’R did it. Let’s go to round 3 !!!!!
Thank you Axl and Guns N’ Roses !!!

  5. spgunner

why do you hate slash so much? did he hurt your feelings?

I could begin with how disappointed I was with everything he did after he left Guns (musically speaking) and how he really became a musical prostitute. Or we could be here for hours and hours talking about the bad things he did to Axl - who's the only who stuck with us. I personally don't like his guitar playing anymore and I hate the things he has done to Axl for the past decades. For all the good moments Axl has given to us... i'm sorry I just can't stand that guy. I remember how great he was when I saw him with Guns in 1992 and I also remember how shitty he was with Snakepit in 95 (I watched both live). Coincidence or not when he was with Snakepit in Brazil he told a magazine here that he always hated playing Sweet Child. So for me he kinda died. Maybe some people feel like this towards the band in general or towards Axl. I personally feel that way as regards him. It's like... the bad guy who couldn't stand "Axl's ballads" is the biggest sell out of all times! The one who didn't like to play Sweet Child with his own band then plays the song at the fuckin' Superbowl with Fer-beeetch-gie ! I could spend days showing how much of a lying asshole he is but just this is enough and I rest my case. He'll do everything you want if you pay him. The guy moves his ass thinking about his pocket - if there was any soul in his music, let's be happy it was caught on tape when Axl was around to be able to work on it. Money is good and everybody wants it but being a blind greedy fuck... excuse me !

  6. He tells Spin: “What I do in Guns isn’t necessarily who I am. I’m not a heavy rock guy any more than I am a singer-songwriter guy like Paul Westerberg was with the Replacements.

“When I met Axl he told me that he and his tour manager had come to see us in some club – and they were not impressed. He and I both had a chuckle about the facts he wasn’t a Replacements fan and I wasn’t a Guns fan.”

You don't have to be a fan of a band to play in it. Specially when you want to build something new. Axl could probably find 1,000 bass players who were into GN'R and none of them would have Tommy's style and sound.

It's funny how people in general love to say the current band is in it for the money BUT how come they don't see it in Slash when he plays with everybody to cash some money in.

One more note: it's so good to have at least a few people telling the truth (Tommy saying he wasn't into GN'R for instance), in a world of so many lies. Maybe that's one of the reasons he's been around for so many years - he's not faking it.

  7. - Dice's and Cage's intros were so full of truth and so real and cool!
    - Easy and Jungle were faster, killers!
    - Axl was in very good shape and at least for me one spectacular moment was Axl and 4tus at Knockin' On Heaven's Door!
    - It's a shame there were a few mistakes here and there (TIL and SCOM) but then again.. if mistakes weren't allowed GN'R wouldn't have any fan left after Ritz '88 and, then again (again! lol), live acts are live acts and shit happens!
    - So good to see Axl receiving something he deserves after so many years of negative crap. I hope he gets more awards like this in the future because he deserves.
    - Cool to see Duff but I miss Tommy, it's a shame he wasn't there!

  8. The first time Slash showed who he was - at least to me - was in a brazilian interview when he came back to Brazil to play with Snakepit. He said he NEVER enjoyed playing Sweet Child. This, for me, was like... so all I'm watching is fake? He doesn't enjoy it? Shit. Then all the crap against Axl, we know the whole story.

Now there's the contract thing that surfaced on the internet and now he says Sweet Child is gay (well, he's the one who recorded with Michael Jackson, pop singers, latin pop singers, Fergie, etc - the list is huge). So all this means 2 things: Slash lies. And Slash wants to steal your money.

Doesn't matter if you like GN'R or not at 2014 or 2010 or 2006 or 2001, one thing is true: Axl NEVER sold his soul for money and fame the way Slash did and does. And by everything we hear and know, Axl tells the truth (even Marc Canter is precise when he says that Axl doesn't lie and that Slash lies).

So I guess that's it. I just wish the truth could be out there for the mass audience to see but seems like they'll keep on being fooled. But the truth is coming out. Little by little.

  9. Ah... I know this feeling. :( I still remember when a Brazilian robbed me. Took away my favourite band.

Oh I guess you meant "I still remember when that english guy tried to fuck up things but he couldn't because with the help of a brazilian the band is still alive". The end of Rock in Rio III was very emotional. Thank you Axl for being loyal and telling the truth, in a business we usually don't see any.

  10. He wouldn't be able to. If he tried it would likely resemble the time he butchered EVH's Beat It solo.

You're right, doesn't matter if you like Slash or not, it's a fact he can't play many things from Chinese (again like it or not the album). Even Robin and DJ (he's direct substitutes) couldn't play stuff that is from Bucket and now Ron. Buckethead brought GN'R to a new level (even Marc said somewhere he likes what he did in Nightrain at the last main solo). Even for those who don't like Bucket or Ron (or even Richard, who does some amazing things in Nightrain and November Rain - a shame he doesn't do more lead), it's clear as crystal things changed and there's no way in hell to Slash to play Bucket's stuff (most of it). Well... even Robin's. His guitar playing is advanced and very different from everything out there. Anyway I'm glad this is not a real issue to discuss.

  11. Hey folks don't get high expectations to see more of it. This brazilian channel usually fucks up the good things they're able to have. I remember when Bruce Dickinson came out of Maiden at the early 90's. He did an acoustic live for this channel and it was going to be somehting big. It was never aired. Here in this country they usually do this kind of shitty translations over the original sound. The only hope I have is that someone who works inside the channel is a GN'R fan and maybe he/she could get the originals but the again... no high hopes. Well at least we could see him with the band, good humor, great!!

  12. No one wants the other one to put things out. The thing is I sort of understand why. Neither side wants to see someone else play their music.

I understand that. BUT Slash quit GN'R. If he didn't want it (other musicians playing his songs), he should never quit. When you quit something, looks like you're letting it go. So this is what's not right in the picture. From the moment Slash quit GN'R, he should move on - ok to play a few tunes here and there, it's his past as well, but to try to control and or manipulate the current plans of the band HE quit... I don't think it's right. In the other hand, Axl's been fighting for this band for so many years (I believe you know much more about all the shit he's been through than any fan here) so is it fair to have issues to release new stuff, when related to old songs? I wish Slash could quit for real. People are so used to say Axl lives in the past but when Slash plays GN'R (all the time) and when he (seems like, I don't think it's 100% sure) tries and/or blocks new things GN'R wants to release, people in general don't say a word. It's so unfair.

  13. Yes, let us all mindlessly, unconditionally worship Axl. Let us pray.

Axl is fat and comical-looking. His singing is terrible and it's clear he doesn't practice. He destroyed GNR so he could own the name, then he did nothing with it. ChiDem is a poor album, esp considering the circumstances. Axl tours as a coverband now. Axl will clearly never release music ever again.

These are all facts, not unwarranted attacks. There us no conspiracy to keep Axl down. He kept himself down and deserves all the criticism he's getting for it.

If you truly believe in all the bs you wrote, maybe it's time for you to move on. The last thing I would do would be staying here if I believed and or felt half of the things you said.

  14. Nice to bring such a smooth and nice topic like this at Axl's bday. This is the kind of reading he needs today (considering he would waste his time here, even worse on his own bday - hopefully not).

Seems like they needed the money, Stephanie is married to a old timer that is a billionaire. And the other... no need to mention what she did to Axl's personal stuff.

In it 4 the $ ! They should have chosen $la$h instead, more into what they want for their lives.

Next Super Bowl - Slash using Google Ass plus Stephanie and Erin dancing as cheerleaders. Only thing missing would be the clowns and the midgets! Wow, is Steven Adler able to pretend he knows how to play? He never did but I believe he's in such bad shape he couldn't even pretend he's playing anymore.

Case closed, topic locked in 3, 2, 1....

  15. Because the internet makes people bold and cruel. I'd wager that the majority of people who make nasty and superficial comments about Axl, or any other celebrity, would never dare to do it in person - but since they're anonymous and safely hidden behind a computer, it's open war, they feel big and bad, and they get their jollies by saying stupid things about people they don't even know.

And keep in mind that I don't think it's wrong to be critical or to express varying viewpoints, and I'm not talking about those folks - I'm talking about the ones who have fun being openly nasty.

The thing is, it happens to every celebrity and a lot of non-celebs too - there's some five year old Disney actress who's been getting death threats lately. This isn't just an Axl thing. Go on any YouTube video or Facebook page and you will see tons of trolling comments. I've heard celebrities say they never Google themselves and they disable comments on their videos, and that's probably smart for their own sanity.

Agree with this, there is no accountability nor consequences for most of the faceless anonymous crowd that delights in talking smack about people they don't know, and situations they aren't aware of.

If people had to provide positive identification to post on message boards or leave comments on various sites, then the picture would change, and the internet wouldn't be nearly as popular among certain age brackets and socioeconomic groups.

Why defend yourself against anonymous commentary? The user may be some 14 year old with an attitude by proxy.

Maybe just maybe forums should start asking for real identification in order to be a part of it. When I'm in a hotel among other fans, everyone respects and loves the band. I'm so sure many people I've met out there are the same ones who write shit online but doesn't have the guts to do the same in person.

I'm so pro giving positive identification. Maybe this should be the answer in order to have the good old forums from the past back. But owners of forums and moderators wouldn't be interested to have less people around and haters and those who love to be anonymous would be out so ... no, it won't happen.

But the amount of hate & ignorance shown towards Axl on almost every "facebook" post or aticle in the comments, is absouletly disgusting. Is their any reason why he stays away from social media and a recluse? Anyone else would of given up a long time ago. It makes me sad that no matter what he does that 90% of the media portray him in a bad light, the usual comments that follow are

    "Axl's fat"

    "Wheres slash"

    "He cant sing"

    "He ruined GNR"

    "Axle axle axlle"

Why the fuck does it come across as no-one respects outside of the core fanbase ? No wonder he's heisitant to release new music.

    #endrant

I wish Axl would be on the cover of Rolling Stone (huge interview) or maybe the Playboy Interview (usually very huge detailed interviews) and a couple of more TV stuff like Jay Leno, Letterman, or even 60 Minutes because it's more serious - maybe a Kurt Loder style interview. I would love to see the regular people around the world knowing facts only hardcore fans know. But then again, it's Axl's choice. And in the end a lie that has been told a million times becomes the truth (reason why people believe in all these horrible topics you worte down as examples). But on the long run I think justice will be made - not 100% the way we want, but hopefully it will.Anyway worse than regular people trashing Axl and the band is to watch FANS trashing the band. This is something I can't understand. If you're not happy, leave. It's so simple. I'm not a Slash fan since he was out. So I have no idea what this guy does these days, I don't get into his personal shit online, I have no clue if he's got a Facebook or Twitter. I just unfollow his life in general. So to the ones who don't agree with the line up, who believe Axl doesn't sing well these days, etc... don't waste your time, leave instead of doing this negative masturbation online against the one who, once upon a time, gave ya joy and happiness - well, I still have a lot of joy and happiness with Guns ! Thanks Axl !

    Good post-

I particularly like the term "negative masturbation".

Thanks, gonna write a song with this title so you can be in the video.
