hah, don't remember that, but wouldn't be surprised if there was some kind of subterfuge.

did you go or live in the city at the time?

Mill Valley... and NO- it is my biggest GnR regret. I went back and forth for days about going. My gut said "Go, go, go..."

But I didn't  There was a Doors cover band around at that time and I assumed it was them... Decided I didn't want to go all the way into

the city to see fake Jim Morrison. In retrospect (being older and wiser now) that cover band would never have been booked into a place that big....

Oh, the follies of youth

hey Michelle, old timer here myself. this is shaping up the exact same way when GNR did some 'secret' shows in May of 1991 before UYI was released. San Fran was the 1st of these shows and it had been rumored for a couple weeks prior that it was going to happen. of course this was a long time before the internet, but the local radio shows were all over it. think i remember MTV talking about it too.

anyway, it was finally announced the night before it was going to happen but tickets weren't sold until the next morning and you couldn't start waiting in line until early that morning. the Warfield holds a couple thousand though (there's an upstairs balcony), but the floor is pretty small and was like a mosh pit that night.

Wasn't that show advertised in The Pink section as "An Evening w/ the Doors"?  or am I getting that mixed up?

i'm so happy too! it's making me just happy at the most random and mundane things. like while grocery shopping today I was humming "Sweet Child O'Mine" and smiling and thinking of how great life is! 30 days and counting...

Me too! I've been positively giddy since this whole thing was announced. I've been going around grinning like a lunatic :P

  4. I'm going because Coachella  was not an option for me. Hipsters in the desert? Not my scene.

I'm in California, so Vegas is easy to get to. Vegas is fun. I will be there for a few days, doing Vegas-ie stuff, aside from the concert.

I'm sure that the energy will be electric since these are the first shows- which is a bonus. But if the first show was in, say, New York?

    I wouldn't be going.

As far as $$$ goes... I keep a credit card just for GnR tickets/expenses. I'm weird like that. :P
