  1. It's interesting even trying to find a version from 06-10 that's decent. Rock am Ring wasn't good, surprisingly. Even in 2010 he refused to do the whole song with rasp for whatever reason.

    This one is pretty good:

  2. Slash was an addict at the time of the breakup and Axl was moping around because of Stephanie leaving him. Neither guy wanted to deal with the other's bullshit.

    The end.

20 years later - Slash is clean and Axl's still singing Stephanie Seymour ballads. Axl never grew up.

I think Axl aged worse out of everyone except maybe David Lee Roth. But Roth got into tremendous shape a few years after hitting 50 for the Van Halen reunion.

    There's still hope Axl!

  4. Ycbm and rq are the weakest in todays setlist, and are played for there popularity.

other songs aren't as dramatically different with a few songs better in new gnr like 2010 nice boys, November rain (to screechy back in 91) and musically new gnr is more interesting as the songs sound fuller with more guitars and keyboards.

    You're on crack.

  5. I wonder if Axl doesn't hold "you're gonna dieeeeeeee" at the end of WTTJ anymore because he's lost faith in Frank to help him out and not drag it on forever. I know Axl got pissed at him about it last tour.

    What show was that?

I forget, but there was video of it. Axl held it out forever and then just stopped and said "come on, really?" when Frank didn't cue the end part.

  6. Wow that's really sad. So lifeless. A bunch of dudes standing around. Axl stumbles over Bumblefoot. Tom Mayhue nonchalantly walks out to move a microphone stand from one spot to another spot 5 feet away. No wonder they're playing 1800 seaters.

How far off are we from State/County Fairs? 2 years?

  7. At the risk of being controversial (and the following is pure supposition) I read something recently that reminded me about the discussions re Axl's very deep speaking voice back in the 80s vs todays higher sounding voice.

The article was about bulimia and how it affects the vocal chords basically making a persons voice sound deep (there are other things that can do this of course, thyroid issues for example) but it made me think of Axl because it also mentioned the eroding of tooth enamel as a side effect and we all remember the old teeth....

Anyway just one possible theory, I do feel a bit bad bringing it up because it is a horrid psychological disorder but I wondered what other people thought.

I know someone who did cocaine with Axl a few years ago, and if you look at what that drug did to Whitney Houston's voice...it's possible drug abuse could be doing the same thing to Axl.

Some comments on Axl's pic:"They sounded horrible.....we left early"

" Huge fan but I left early too. He sounded horrible and played songs no one cares to hear... Late on top of it but to be expected.. Crowd started leaving after two of new songs played. He is axel"

    this is so bad...

The dramatic reactions here are funny sometimes.

    Ali

Ali it always starts like this but as we know it gets more positive & he sounds better as he tours.

No, no he doesn't. He was consistently shit from 2011 through the beginning of this year.

I saw them in March & they were great, no way was he bad.

Stop it with the "I was there!" bullshit. Find me a video other than maybe Philly 2012 where he doesn't sound awful.

  9. Anyone spelling his name "Axel" cannot be trusted for any type of review. In all likelihood, they only vaguely remember 3 or 4 songs from GNR, and that alone should result in all their statements being ignored.

Ok, so when the videos start turning up in a few hours and his voice is obviously bad...then what?

We ignore them, or fight to the death that those recording devices are unsatisfactory.

    lol
