  1. Yeah he said 'as we speak', there was a little more I asked him about after the workshop and he mentioned after he finishes with Dead Daisies in Australia (before mid December) he was going to return for more studio work, but he didn't say in what context.

Somewhere after 18:00 in video 2 were all the questions about song-writing etc. After I got done asking him what the deal was with DJ having 10 demos, Ron saying they hadn't written together as a band etc, he said "I look forward to reading about this online tomorrow", everyone laughed and my response was "well no-one wants to talk about it" and that's when he started saying about Axl being secretive etc.

  2. Motivation, I deactivated my account for a period of time.

No this is definitely not a band at this point. Like Laparka said, Fortus himself floats between so many different projects. Dont even know if Ron is part of it anymore. Tommy opts out of a tour to play with another band. Its more like a bunch of different registered businesses trading as the name "Guns N Roses".

Think its time to move on.

  3. There was someone else there who asked about The General and Soul Monster. He was a member of this forum but I can't remember what his screen name was. Good to talk to him. That led to my question about song writing. That guy filmed the workshop and is going to post it on youtube at some point. You'll hear most of what I mentioned above, but I also asked him a little more at the signing afterwards.

Probably not important but me and the other guy were raving to Fortus about Finck and the 2006 era. He brought up Wembley and the acoustic show ie "Sailing", "Back in the USSR" etc

    That's about it I guess.

  4. Just to clarify, I did not directly quote any word for word answers from Richard, I gave my best recollection or understanding of what he was saying, summed up. So he didn't say word for word that he doesn't know what new album plans are - this was in the context of a longer comment about Axl keeping things under wraps until the time is right, different logistical factors etc. I couldn't really sit down and make notes of exactly what he said. Someone else can do a better job than I did in Melbourne.

  5. Event just finished, about one and a half hours. Richard gave a bio of his musical career, played his recent SA solo to a backing track, the country picking part before the Transylvania solo song, and parts of Dead Daisies songs along with some of "Better".

During the workshop and in the meet and greet following, he was kind enough to talk a bit about GNR songwriting which led to small bits of info that may be new to some of you. I also asked his permission to share the info on a forum and he was fine with that.

Ill write up more when I get home, about an hour or so.

  6. We fans have every right to get new music. Fuck all the Axl apologetics. We paid for Axl's mansion and his lavish lifestyle. We have every right to question his bullshit.

We paid for Slash's lifestyle and mansion and he has the common fucking decency to give us new music in a timely manner.

I'll choose Slash any day over a guy who thinks the world is out to get him. If Axl can prove me wrong and actually become a credible artist again, then I'll change my tune, but until then...

No one put a gun to your head and made you spend money on GNR. Your inept sense of self entitlement is both nauseating and pathetic. Axl doesn't owe you shit.
Oh what a load of bullshit. People enjoy the music and have an interest in hearing more. Whats wrong with that? Is anyone knocking on Axls door at midnight? Has someone taken beta hostage? No, nothing illegal - just people having a discussion and sharing their hopes, then warriors like you come around mimicing axl's language talking down to other fans. Who gave you the right to tell other people what bands or music they should enjoy?
I agree with iftheworld here. Why do we have the right to new music? We have the right to what we pay for. You buy a cd, you get music. You buy a concert ticket, you get a kick-ass preformance. But to say we made Axl rich yada yadda yadda so he owes us is crap.

I didn't say "we made Axl rich yada yadda yadda so he owes us". What I did say was that I believe people are entitled to discuss their interest in a new album, or for that matter any other feedback regarding the setlist or shows etc. It's bad enough to deal with the inconsistent communication from the band/crew, but to have one fan talking down to another fan for their opinion is more of a turn off. Why should someone go as far as to feel "nauseated" just because of someone else's opinion about music? That's a bit too much.

  8. What i dont like about slash is that he has his bouncer to turn you away if you wanted a photo with slash. Then he plasters pictures with people who were holding an interview with. Someone who does that many interviews shouldn't be camera shy with his own fans. In that context he sells his fans out.

according to a recent tour package it appears no less than $499 will get one the desired photo. sad.

I totally agree with this. I hate to admit it but Slash wasn't that fun to meet at all. Absolutely no photos allowed and the security WILL take you away if you try.

There are so many rules when meeting Slash, you have to line up, can only get one thing signed and then you move along.

When I met Axl he was so lovely and warm both times, had no problem posing for a photo, chatted to everyone and signed things very graciously. I couldn't have wished for a nicer experience.

Yeh unfortunately most VIPs seem to be that way, which is why I wouldn't pay even a $1 for any sort of formal or planned meet and greet experience. Either take 10 seconds to sign someone's autograph heading out a stage door, or just don't bother with fan interaction.

  10. In all likelihood he probably got a nice little paypacket for that cameo and couldn't care less what anyone thinks. This is the same person who just came off a second vegas run and has hired a 40 year old male guitarist who looks like a 16 year old emo wearing a shirt with a ripped sleeve that his little sister tore off while fighting over their makeup. Not that slash is any better either, every song sounds the same and his singer sounds like tina turner using male growth hormones, not to mention his own garbage paradise city recording.

omg omg what are you doing here hater

you think either slash or axl or any of them care about their integrity? doubt it. so, why not just laugh about it instead of taking it too seriously.

  11. Slash's tone on UYI is probably the best guitar tone in history.

Dunno about that, but it was certainly up there and certainly something special...fuck he sounds great on those albums.

He sounded great on the albums but he sounded incredible on tour. His gold-top had an incredible tone and a particular strong, fat sustain - the best I have heard.

The reason why current GNR requires 3 lead-guitarists to match the studio version.

Including the sickly 17 year old girl in your avatar

  12. So much for 'working on CD for a good while' or whatever the quote was - it's not even on that level anymore. The 2002 tour had about 3-4 CD songs received by a crowd who were curious about a new album that was probably never going to come out - the 2014 tour has about 3-4 CD songs received by a crowd who are vaguely familiar with the album which probably comes up in their iTunes playlist randomly once a year and they probably forgot they even bought.

  13. I know there's rumors of a Guns N' Roses studio version of Ballad Of Death that got leaked, I am here to tell you that the so called "leaked" studio version floating around is NOT the real Guns N' Roses studio version nor is it me playing guitar on it. Hope this helps!

Oh come on, as if it isn't him. Unless he's trying to disown his own guitar playing, which I can respect.
