  1. Maybe a new drum track as well but that's about it I think, unless other parts of the song have redone or additional vocals layered on top.

  2. Yeah you can only wonder what Slash could have bought to it, but I think that what Robin put down is as good as anything at least I could have expected for the song, and it's a shame that there was no opportunity for Robin to perform it live.

What I would really like to hear though is an earlier demo of this song, even if it's just Axl with a piano.. the version on the album is quite dramatic with the instrumentation, and I imagine an earlier version would be more emotional.

  3. Unless those guys are on a monthly retainer..they have no royalties to ride on. More than likely they are paid to play... Its not like they are holed up in a rehearsal hall with baited breath waiting to get the jam on.

How could anyone diss a fella who wants to go earn some cash and tour his music just to keep his chops up? Oh thats right nuGNR fans...these are Axls cabana boys at his beck and call when his muse comes around to visit...that is.

Nothing wrong with him wanting to earn his cash and tour his music like you said, but that's the issue here - the impression from him is that he's committed to producing and recording and being creative, yet he publicly airs his dissatisfaction with GNR's lack of movement and how it affects his solo activities.. if he's so committed to his music, there's nothing stopping him walking away from GNR.. I appreciate the financial reward being part of the GNR machine, but he needs to stop the contradictions, talking about making a choice for the rest of his life, how difficult it is to plan ahead because of the unreliability with GNR tour commitments, how hard it is for him to gain backing for his solo shows because of his connection to GNR.... yet it's another day, another poster promoting a solo appearance with a big GNR logo to boast.

  4. I think him going solo would not have been bad - he may not have had a larger pulling draw and so likely touring in smaller venues, but I think the reception and attendance would be more consistent, rather than GNR playing half empty arenas or having to scale down to a 'up close and personal' format - also, without the burden of the GNR brand, history, and business/contractual issues etc, he may have been more creative in new output.

  5. Bumblecunt / Cuntlefoot

He needs to shutup, because honestly it makes him look very unprofessional. If he wants to leave, then leave. If he's just being an asshole trying to use leverage on TB/Axl then hopefully they don't fall for that shit.

Shhhhh ... Gunsguy is trying to keep this a secret from BBF.

Regardless I would put money on them having already contacted or at least will be contacting him, how that works out for anyone involved is anyone's guess..?

Even if they did contact him, the response was probably something like "pack sand". (not even kidding)

Once BBF realizes that they don't care whether he stays or not, he'll go silent and act like this embarrassing little incident never happened. Watch.

This has already happened to some degree I think - that post on his twitter "we'll work it out" a.k.a I'm not going anywhere

  6. Great guitar player and while I think that collaborating with Axl on new music may bring some unique results, I don't think his style would complement the GNR catalog very well - not because he's incapable or he is too good, but it wouldn't allow him to use his full potential. I felt even RHCP was limiting for him - despite that their late guitarist Hillel was one of his main early influences - let alone GNR.

  7. There will probably be shows next year but my feeling is that if it takes another period of inactivity for a year or two for Axl to regain his motivation and possibly even share some new music, then I would rather have that. I'm sure there will always be a place in the market for GNR and people will enjoy hearing Axl singing the classics when the show comes around to their area, but - again, my opinion only - is that I really wish he would get that determination again to take a little risk, share some new music, challenge the GNR audience.

  8. Apparently you have to submit questions. Censoring out all the info that we want to know.

Nae new music chat then. Not that there would have been anyway :(.

Not many are paying for it for obvious reasons, but I think the chat will be interesting to hear about. Bumble's a bit of a loose cannon at times, and he likes to speak his mind.

He may be the easiest guy to persuade to do a chat, but that could blow up in management's face quite spectacularly.

If he's willing to keep GNR alive ahead of his health and well being I doubt he will put his job on the line over a chat :/

I'm sure he'd agree with you, but that's the contradiction. The guy that says "I'll really never fit in" and "Fuck axl's band" has gone through hell to keep his personal gnr dream alive.

I'd never bet on ron not speaking his mind, in any interview. Given his attitude to this one so far (see above), you might even argue he's more likely, not less likely, to let rip.

To be honest I couldn't really care less if he did rage in a fan chat and it caused problems with management - he clearly has a contradicting attitude about gnr, so my post wasn't defensive of him.

I am confused about Bumblefoot. On the one hand, he clearly hates the way new gnr organise themselves - all that sycophantic dicksucking and mutual backslapping - and has a similar frame-of-mind as the fans ('new material?'). On the other hand, he still cashes his cheque every week! He even had the audacity to play a gig of 'gnr classics' in Israel recently. I cannot make up my mind whether he is the only decent human being in the whole organisation that is 'newgnr' (and yes, I include Axl there who I basically feel is a colossal sack of human excrement), or, the world's biggest hypocrite!

I would like to believe the former, but why has he not left this garbage band like Buckethead and Finck?

Pretty much got it down right to the letter, well said. Anyone in this organisation is clearly there for their own benefit, which is understandable from a commercial perspective - it's just a shame that the GNR name suffers as a result, because even if this lineup was to write and release new music, just think - are these people genuinely interested in how their music stands against the GNR history, or are they just happy for the writing credits/publishing that will result?

You don't think that between cj and Ron there may be any resentment if one's writing credits takes precedence over the other? They're all in a business looking for a promotion.

  10. So what if Randy's opinion of the album changed - generally speaking ones opinion or perspective of something can change over time. I thought very highly of CD just prior and following the release at the time. In terms of Axl I believe he himself doesn't consider the released product as his vision for it, yet he hasn't hasn't taken any steps to correct or reinforce that - if anything, over time he seems to have disassociated himself from it, reducing the airtime it gets live and in interviews referring to it negatively. In terms of my own perspective, as I said I really felt strongly about the album before, musically and for what it represents, but ultimately it doesn't feel relevant for me anymore due to the above reasons which has affected my connection to it.

  11. I like Ron a lot - not so musically if I'm being honest - but he's clearly a genuinely nice guy. Just when I read some of his quotes I find them, kinda strange. If I were being unkind I'd say he thrives off the attention and almost comes across (to me at least) like 'pity me' - I may be wrong as I'm not privy to the inner world of GNR and my views are as a fan of the band.

Dunno it's like I can't put my finger on it but at a guess I maybe don't think he's a sincere as he would like us all to believe. Again, I know that sounds harsh but I just honestly think there are things you should ALWAYS be allowed to say privately but publicly? Put it this way if you were Tommy, Richard ex reading that interview you can't honestly tell me you'd be mighty pissed off!? I've read it 3 times now and it's just very very strange IMO.

I hear you & unfortunately feel much the same. It's like you know he's a good guy, so you feel a bit guilty for partly seeing through what you guess may be a bit of an act.

Also like you, I find his guitar work isn't to my taste and I think it's a bad fit for gnr. But as a guy he seems genuine, and speaks from the heart in interviews. You can't fault that, esp in the disillusioned, zero-info world of gnr.

However over the years, I think many of us have noticed that his words and actions just don't quite seem to match up. He talks artistic integrity but hangs around for years with no creative input. He tours an ancient set-list for the umpteenth time, apparently under duress, and then attempts suicide on the tour.

We're only scratching the surface Subsy, but personally I think your intuition is spot on. Whether deliberately or not, there's a picture of a victim being painted.

You got it right on UK SUBS, not harsh at all, I thought Ron had the right attitude to maybe take Axl a little out of his comfort zone and push GNR forward, but ultimately he seems like he cares as much as any of the other employees. It's more disappointing when, as you both said above, he's always expressed himself as a genuine musician with integrity and so on, yet ultimately he's looking to score points with fans as a hero and draw more attention to his own projects.

  12. Sorry HubbaBubba didn't want to quote your post because the thread of messages was getting long.

I can only say that again, it is priorities, I always thought of Ron as a genuine person, but for someone at some point who was extremely vocal about his displeasure of the band's commitments, to turn around and put his health and life on the line to "keep GNR going".. well, I can only say good luck to him, because I don't know him personally. Aside from that, hope he doesn't look back with too much regret when he leaves.

  13. You were forced to tour?

    - Well, it's not that I was forced. I had to make the decision of either keeping Guns N' Roses going or taking care of my body. And I have nerve damage in both arms, and I'm gonna be in pain for the rest of my life... But I kept Guns N' Roses alive. And that was the trade-off.

    :rofl-lol:

    Drama. Fucking. Queen.

Everything this guy says is hyperbole.

Yeah that really put me off. He has his priorities right doesn't he.

I think he means he kept his gnr alive. Meaning I guess that he would've lost his job if he'd chosen his health.

No reasonable employer would put anyone in this position. I don't believe Axl did.

That's what I mean though, considering how negative his experience has been with GNR yet he put his commitments ahead of his own health and life, meaning family and so on.

  14. You were forced to tour?

Yeah that really put me off. He has his priorities right doesn't he.

Ron said that he wouldnt tour, so the boys said they wouldnt tour without him. Tommy wouldnt, Richard wouldnt, etc. Tour would have been canceled, promoters would have sued Axl, etc. That's why he did the tour.

The consensus seems to be he gave in to emotional blackmail. But the tour would also be pretty tricky if he was dead in a hotel room.

    Right you are.

  15. I doubt it, and even if they did - with all respect to the people involved in producing this - its just another greatest hits package, albeit providing a snapshot of the current "live" band, without anything taking the GNR brand forward in terms of new music.

  16. No they won't quit on him because the GNR machine gives them the freedom to explore their own projects with more security.

They may get around to writing and releasing new music at some point as GNR but I just don't feel it will have the genuine ambition and challenge that people like Finck and Buckethead offered musically. There was a point where I felt GNR could have raised the bar in their genre or market, but now I think most listeners will be celebrating how close the new band can get to the 'classic' GNR sound.

  17. So he has an open window of time to chat with yarmo but won't accept a few questions from forum members here to answer via email..

    Wasn't done by Jarmo.

the forum was asking was GNR questions and the had just finished up the tour.

well irrespective it was done as an exclusive for HTGTH wasn't it?

email questions could have been accepted and answered at a later time.

    whatever, carry on..
