  1. Just got back home from the show. I was about 7 people back from the front. Axl's voice sounded great to me from where I was. I don't know or care about anybody else, but I thought it sounded better than the last gig here in 2010.

The band was tight as usual. It was so good actually getting to hear estranged and CITR live. For people always bagging on DJ, he brought his a game tonite. And Mi Amor is a lot better to listen to than ballad of death.

So don't just sit back and be too harsh judging the gig if you weren't there. This was my 3rd time seeing them and I feel, the best. My opinion.

Did you hear any comments from other people around you?? :)

The people around me all seemed to be digging it. Especially one really hammered old guy. I only really saw a couple of people singing along to the new stuff. And when they started playing Catcher, I seemed to be the only person yelling in excitement. Felt like a fuckwit.

  3. That photo of axl isn't in Perth, look at the drinks - they aren't Australian.

The photo of the WACA is taken from the old Hyatt on Adelaide Terrace. Don't know the name of it now.

^ the drink look like Canada Dry whatever that is, he's in a transit lounge somewhere not even in aus yet.

That ain't from the Hyatt man. You can't see into the WACA from there.

  4. i better work out how to get to the perth arena

catch train to city station mate, its not far to walk from there rock3

    >See you in Perth. Where can you go for a drink before the gig? Ezra pound?

couple of places over in northbridge, or you can just have a few there at the arena i think that's what we're doing

There's a place called The Generous Squire a couple of minutes walk from Perth Arena which is alright. And there's an Irish Pub called Dirty Nelly's pretty much right next to it. As Glync said, you can go to the bar at the Arena. I was there for the first time last week to see KISS and Motley and it was good. They have Budweiser, which makes a change from all the other shit midstrength beer they usually sell at concerts or sporting events.

Also, i rang Perth Arena today and they said the set times are:

    Doors Open - 5:30

    Rose Tattoo - 6:00

    ZZ Top - 7:00

    GnR - 8:30 (So probably 9pm)

  5. Thought it would be cool to keep a photo log and posts etc of their tour (outside of concerts) as they go around Australia,

    From Dels facebook,

    Perth

How did Del get this photo of the WACA Ground? He must have been on one of them helicopter tours that goes around the city. Wonder who else got on there with him.

  6. TPM is the best of the prequels. I imagine CD would be the best of the trilogy if the other two ever came out.

I agree with you dude. TPM was the best of the prequels. Although nowhere near as good as any of the "Holy Trilogy", I still watch it maybe once a year. And to the haters, even you have to admit that the song playing during the lightsaber threeway between Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan and Darth Maul (Duel of the fates) is awesome. Try watching that and not sing along. Or at least hum it.

  7. Same as ace. You coughing up for the meet and greet? I'm taking a casual fan with me who I had to beg to come with me in the first place so it's not happening for me.

Nah, couldn't afford the meet and greet. I'm goin with the missus. Won the tickets on the radio. Score!

  8. It just occurred to me that the Soundwave festival is finishing in Perth on March 4th. Duff and Loaded are on the bill for it and GnR are playing the first show of the Aus tour 5 days later in Perth. Do you think there could be a chance that Duff might hang around for that show and surprise the Aussie fans? Most probably not, but us Guns fans, we're nothing if not optimistic.

On another note, i have have been a member on this board since 2004 and this is my 100th post. To say I like to watch is an understatement!

*Edit* Sorry, I got the dates wrong on looking at the Loaded website. They are in Japan with Adler then. Feel free to close and/or delete this thread.

Stupid American way of having the date *Note* Not having a go at Americans, just your grasp on the English language.

    Wasted my 100th post.....Fail.

  9. I wasn't going to be going to see them this time around as me and the wife have a new baby at home and can't really afford to pay the ticket prices. But i just won 2 tickets to the Perth show on Mix 94.5. Fuck yes!!!

    What block you in?

So anybody going to the Perth show, I will see you there!

    rock3

Not too sure what block we're in, or if it's standing as yet. All depends what tickets the radio station were allotted i guess.

Looking forward to Perth the arena looks pretty cool

Yea the Arena the looks cool. I'll be there to see KISS and Motley on Feb 28, so i'll be able to check it out then first.

Awesome man ! Well done. Enjoy the show and more importantly congratulations on a new baby!

    :)

Cheers bud. I know Axl won't be as good as when i saw them on the 2010 tour, but hey, not much will compare to those shows.

  11. It all comes down to, the GnR name. If Axl had have just gone out as "Axl Rose" he wouldn't have gotten all the negative press and he could have taken his time and just release music when he felt like it. As Guns N' Roses, he gets all the baggage and expectation that comes with the name. Without the GnR name, people would let the whole Slash vs Axl thing go (for the most part) and embrace the artist that he is and appreciate his musical output.

It's all a shame really. It shouldn't be about a name. I know it isn't to us here (well it isn't to me), but unfortunately, the public feels different.

  12. I met Zakk after a Black Label Show in 06. One of the nicest musicians i have ever met, next to Lemmy. The hotel concierge tried to kick us out of the lobby because we weren't guests and he told the guy that we were friends of his and that we would be staying at the bar with him and the rest of the band. Total Gentleman. I asked him about when he jammed with Guns and he pretty much echoed what was said in the video. I also asked when he thought CD would come out and he said that he doubted Axl would follow through with it, which was a shame because he waiting for it just as much as us. Guess he was 2 years off on that one...

The guy is the scariest looking bloke in the world. But if you get the chance to ever talk to him, do it. He'll make you feel like you've known him for years.

  13. I agree with songs like TWAT and CITR. Prostitute is great also. I just love the piano piece at the end of it, such a relaxing melody. Every time i hear that it reminds me of how DJ is always saying that Axl has all these amazing piano pieces just waiting to be turned into songs.

I don't think old Axl gets enough credit for his ability to come up with great piano melodies. He is too overshadowed by the "rasp" "snakedance" and of course the "mickey mouse" :tongue2:

  14. OMG! I asked Axl about this back when I met him in 2010. I started out by asking him if he'd seen Avatar yet (which he hadn't at the time), but then I followed up that question with another one about filming music videos and concerts in 3D.

I'm sure that Axl said to his people the other day "hey I know how we can make this Vegas thing special: I remember talking to this dude two years ago who was asking about filming a concert in 3D. We should totally do that!"
