  1. Does it matter that it's still showing in the Direct TV description? Do we think that's just something that would update slower than the official Kimmel website?

Does not matter would take longer if ever to change it

Yeah, that's DirecTV Metadata.. so chances are it won't change before the airing. What's interesting there is its just further confirmation that the name went out, officially, from ABC - as that's where DirecTV would get that data from.

  2. Well its obvious whatever hell broke loose (assuming something did, indeed, change) happened in the last 24 hours or so as I was hearing as of last night that it was still going to happen (from, again, a person involved in Kimmel's production team) - I've tossed that person an email to see if I can get some new insight but during the week, they tend to be pretty damn busy (obviously) so no guarantees I get a timely response (or, any, really - its not like they're going to know everything going on re: the show anyway - especially as to why a guest might or might not be cancelled) - I'll let you guys know if I hear anything. This is so funny, though, regardless - can anything involving this band and its potential promotional efforts ever NOT be a clusterfuck? Just amused, as always, is all :)

  3. THIS PROBABLY MEANS NOTHING AND COULD BE VERY OLD INFORMATION .. Does anyone know when "Guns n' Roses Inc." was dissolved as a corporation in California? I decided to look it up on the California business lookup site and saw its been dissolved - but this could very well have been the situation for years.. I've never bothered checking before.

Haven't been keeping track of the thread, although I'm sure its been mentioned, but someone tweeted Eddie Trunk a picture of the last two people to start following Kimmel and its Axl and Slash. I don't really know how Twitter works, but that seems pretty definitive of them both being on Kimmel. Again, I'm sure this has already been discussed and dissected a million times over by now. If someone is better at posting pictures from Twitter than I am feel free. But its right there in Eddie Trunk's twitter (I only follow him and Slash).

Just to clarify, it was Kimmel following Axl & Slash, not the other way around. Last time I checked, Axl follows NO ONE on Twitter and that seems to still be the case.

  4. I honestly think they're having fun with it.. not necessarily Axl and / or Slash directly - but the people directing social media efforts and the like. The Myspace confirmation of Coachella is just hilarious, on so many levels. You do realize that this story has been in the news cycle for too long now without tacit denials for it to not be true, right? I mean - anything can happen.. but I'd bet there are already at least working agreements signed, if not contracts. Events like Coachella and stuff need to get their logistics worked out way ahead of time (i.e. marketing material, staging requirements, etc) so I'm sure they've already got something signed. I'm also guessing there are some serious NDAs in the mix on this at least until a press release drops. (AKA guys like Eddie Trunk already know most, if not all the details - they just can't say dick about it right now) Hell, there could be a Rolling Stone cover in the not too distant future - this is going to be a big event in the music world - again.. regardless of the quality of the eventual payoff.

  5. Interesting, darknemus. I wonder how that's gonna go since Axl's the only one that's been promoted.

Yeah, well I guess if the Slash appearance were to be promoted, it would kind of ruin the really badly kept secret surprise, at this point, right? If I were a betting man (and I don't gamble - I play poker.. there's a DISTINCT difference :P ) I'd put decent money on Slash appearing on Kimmel with Axl - its the quickest way to maximum exposure for the new shows. It provides instant news footage for the entertainment reports on every local newscast pretty much across the world for the next 24 - 48 hours. It creates pretty much instant work for tons of music journalists asking the 'why' questions.. and it gets the promoters a lot of, well, free promotion that now they don't have to shell out big bucks for (i.e. magazine ads, TV spots, etc) - its honestly, an ideal way to kick off the hype machine in a pretty spectacular fashion. It literally creates a news cycle where the previous biggest rock news was the unforunate passing of Lemmy - make no mistake.. this will be a HUGE story - even if the payoff at the end is a letdown, it doesn't mean it won't be promoted / discussed / dissected / analyzed intensely. Its a different world now - social media, etc - don't be surprised to see trending hashtags.. facebook viral posts, etc - and Also.. don't expect all of it to be good - that's just not the way the Internet tends to handle these things.

  6. Please no Pitman. No one needs to see him and his wobbly keyboard on stage....if they record an album and he helps fine, but he doesnt need to be there live. If theres no Izzy/Adler/Sorum i hope they just stick to the 6 man line up with Fortus and Frank and have Izzy guest when he wants to.

How do you know that Pittman doesn't just have balance / inner ear equilibrium issues and he simply uses the keyboard in lieu of a crutch and / or cane? :P This is the man responsible for Silkworms - we need to show him some deference! ;)

  7. Not that anybody cares but I heard from another individual who I've known for years (in fact, hung out with him in 2006 @ the Hammerstein shows / after events / etc) that Axl & Slash will both be on Kimmel. This person's source is directly connected w/ Kimmel's production staff but that's all I can say so as to not compromise someone / possibly out them. Again, we'll know everything Tuesday, regardless, so hang on and have fun :)

    Dark nice to see ya!

Thanks.. I keep up with this stuff from time to time - its just real life tends to get in the way, a lot.. no complaints, though. I'll be honest.. on this whole GNR reunion thing (and anyone who thinks at this point that its NOT happening - at least the primary three, is pretty much crazy) - I'm much more curious as to the "why" than anything else. Is it just a huge money grab or being driven, somehow, artistically - that's my primary curiosity.. We shall see how it all plays out, regardless :)

  8. We will know more when Axl talks. Can't wait for that!

Yep.. 72 hours or so away from the Kimmel deal. We should get some good leaks from the show as soon as it tapes which is typically 4:30 PM Pacific but has been known to go later.. but still a couple of hours earlier than his air time, regardless. Its also possible that there's an embargo'ed press article sitting somewhere that leaks before that.. as those things tend to happen with situations like this.

  9. If this lineup of Axl, Slash, Duff, Dizzy, Richard, Frank, Pitman and Kushner turns out to be true, i imagine there will be some heavy disappointment among a lot of fans and casuals. It's going to be hard for Guns N' Roses to spin this after so many media outlets have jumped the gun and called this a reunion.

I respectfully disagree. To 95% of the 'casual music listening public' GNR = Axl / Slash.. they probably don't even know the names Duff, Izzy, Steven, etc... and I sometimes wonder if even Dizzy Reed's mother knows the name Dizzy Reed :P

  10. Axl's full interview with tour dates and his thoughts on the reunion will be up soon on the revamped Guns N Roses Friendster page with an alert sent out via AOL Instant Messenger.

Thanks! Does this mean a different interview from Kimmel? And I am assuming after Tuesday night, right?

lol.. he was kidding. He was tying in Friendster / AIM to the Myspace discussion. Typically I'd say never expect a GNR resurgence on Friendster.. but you know what.. F it.. in this situation, all bets are off - this band has always been all sorts of whack - so it wouldn't surprise me if the next official message comes via fax to MTV News at this point.

  11. I know squat all about the lineup, but I can tell you this much as I've heard from someone I know who works for Kimmel's show (well, technically, production company, Jackhole productions). Axl will be there on the show on Tuesday and he's "sure as hell not there to discuss Halloween trees" In fact, the quote I got was "We're prepped for some social media spikes for Tuesday night" - that's it.. that's all I've heard. I could be being totally fucked with - or we could simply follow Occam's Razor on this one and realize that pretty much all signs, thus far, point to this actually occurring.

Regardless, I bet any / all news about his appearance to leak as soon as Kimmel begins taping which is at 4:30 PM Pacific time. I'm sure someone there will tweet / facebook / etc what's going down almost in real time - it happens pretty much every time there's a potential 'big' event like this.

i thought the show is live? someone else said that a while back and also isn't the show called "jimmy kimmel live?"

Pretty much all the American late night talk shows are taped about 3 - 6 hours before airing. They all occasionally do truly 'live' shows as well - but those are usually heavily hyped before hand and either directly before or after some huge event. (like a Super Bowl or some crazy movie premiere, etc) You don't see a lot of true 'live' late night talk any more.

Axl's full interview with tour dates and his thoughts on the reunion will be up soon on the revamped Guns N Roses Friendster page with an alert sent out via AOL Instant Messenger.

And here I thought only those of us on ICQ were going to get the 'true scoop' :P

  12. The hilarity and irony of updating the Myspace page (which, honestly, when was the last time MySpace was relevant? ) as opposed to their FB or official web page with the Coachella dates isn't lost on me. Its just another tie in to, well 'older things' and 'thing we haven't seen for a while' - if this is being done this way deliberately (and I'd tend to think it is - just speculation based upon the potential dollars involved) then its kind of being done masterfully and in ways that get the nostalgia craving a-kickin

  14. Who, out there, doesn't love Taco Bell, really? Nothing better than a Mexican Pizza when you're out for late night chow at like 2 AM with your other half. As far as his tweet goes - he's just having fun, I tend to think. He'll be on Kimmel and there will be a tour announcement of some sort - I don't know if you see the rest of the guys (or even just Slash, really) - but I'd be willing to wager a fair amount of money this is happening pretty much as the articles have laid out. Just look at where the news started trickling down from - promoters and the like... I say it often, but 'follow the money' - When you're dealing with major corporations (i.e. ABC, or, you know, DIsney) - they're not apt to allow for many tweets out there to say Axl will be on the show next week without out issuing some sort of tacit denial - they just don't seem like the kind of company who would allow this type of stuff to run rampant unless they'd benefit from it.
