  1. If people remember GnR employed a documentary filmer for the 06 tour, this guy filmed people outside venues on every show as well as filming the band on stage and back stage.Me and a friend were interviewed and got chatting the guy and the footage was being shot for a documentary but it was not a making of CD doc it was to accompany a release, this is what i and im sure others were told by the guy filming.

Take it as you will but it lends credence to at least one of these versions having a bonus DVD

Oh I totally agree. Thats why I wonder what the $19.99 price point items are. I've heard they are vinyl, and I've also heard they are 'Best Buy versions' - which usually indicates a 'special edition' of some sort.

We should know more later on today once the various BBs open up and the information begins to flow.

    -darknemus

  2. Quick summary for anyone attempting to reach Best Buy today to garner more information:

    A. Best Buy only has these listed in their RSS system - NOT on their website, not on the usual system they check store stock with. (Which, ironically, is their own website)

    B. There are a total of six known SKUs (Stock Keeper Units.. in other words, the store's 'identification system' for products.)

    C. Here are the SKUs that we know of - along with the price points:

    9111016 - Chinese Democracy 'Version 1' - $13.99

    9111034 - Chinese Democracy 'Version 2' - $13.99

    9111052 - Chinese Democracy 'Version 3' - $13.99

    9111061 - Chinese Democracy 'Version 1' - $19.99

    9111043 - Chinese Democracy 'Version 2' - $19.99

    9111025 - Chinese Democracy 'Version 3' $19.99

In addition, we have a supposed UPC from one of the discs / LPS (I'm not 100% convinced the 19.99 price point items are vinyl). The UPC is 602517906075

    D. By the end of the day, I SHOULD have screenshots confirming all of this stuff myself. Once I do (assuming that the plan comes through) I will post them - obviously removing any identifying information so as to keep people out of trouble.

    E. The supposed 'release date' for all of these is November 25th - I was told by the Best Buy in Pueblo, CO that he is showing an 'active' date of October 28th - HOWEVER he believes that means that's the day when it goes into their online / web system. It sounds like the way they run their stock management is pretty convoluted, but not my place to judge.

    F. If anyone gets any additional information, PLEASE share it. Even if its something that totally debunks what you see here - its the best way we can get to the facts in this situation.

    Ciao,

  3. ok i'm just up and i have a hangover and al i'm reading is something about SKU's and dark slagging which is melting my head and i don't want to go back and read the last 15 pages,

can someone sum up quickly any developments from the last 12 hours? if any. pllllease?

Someone found Chinese Democracy in Best Buy's revenue stock system (rss). It has 3 different SKU's, which means there will be 3 different versions (probably standard, deluxe, dvd).

It this is true, we will get 3 different versions of Chinese Democracy on November 23. They're also saying that it will be possible to buy an LP version.

    Sounds good so far :)

    Just real quick.

The three 'version 1' 'version 2' and 'version 3' SKUs:

I don't think they're deluxe / dvd editions - ONLY because the price point is the same ($13.99) for each of them. Just like the three vinyl SKUs are all priced at $19.99. (Which might also be called the 'Best Buy' versions.. no one is sure on that front - hell, no one is even 100% positive they're vinyl yet)

  4. Darknemus has done a lot of good stuff for the GNR community. Most notably I guess when he organised the Hammerstein presales for us.

So anyone who bashes darknemus here should really be ashamed of themselves.

I had nothing to do w/ the Hammerstein pre-sales. Sorry bout that. Can we get back on-topic, though? :)

    -darknemus

  5. Tell you what - instead of bitching about me (when this is so NOT about me) why don't YOU try to be helpful to the GNR community and go talk a hoarder out of a track or two.. or maybe do some research on different SKUs / UPCs and share the info.. or maybe you can go crawl underneath a production studio's console desk so that you can leak a radio rip of IRS. You know, be semi-useful? I've proven myself time and time again and have sought no credit, no kudos, no really anything. I do it because its fun and I enjoy it. My life is far too busy and complex to devote the time to this that I used to but yes, when I can help, I will - as that's what fans do. We're supposed to bond together, common good, all that fun stuff.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go crash with my girl - lets hope tomorrow brings more information of a good nature. If not, oh well.

    Ciao.

  6. Come on guys, Dark is not a bullshitter/noob.He is obviously a true Gunner like us.I appreciate his efforts to get us info.I wonder who will announce the tracklisting, GNR or a fan?I am goin with the fan.

dark has been full of shit in the past and if memory serves me correctly, and i'm pretty sure it does, darknemus is the same guy that collected money and blank dvd's from a bunch of guns fans in 2006 for those hammerstein bootleg dvd's and then never sent out the dvd's. he disappeared for quite some time after that.

dark likes to try to be mr mygnrforum hero, but usually fails. even if he's actually telling the truth on this, he's still a sack of shit as far as i'm concerned.

Actually, tool - as I've explained MANY times in the past. My Ex was the one who f'ed up the whole Hammerstein DVD thing and I have also, numerous times, offered anyone who didn't get their discs their cash back and then some. Its one of the MANY reasons she's my ex. She kept crappy records so I had no clue who got their discs and who didn't - I apologized profusely for it many times and, like I said, have refunded people their money and then some. Do you REALLY think that the 200 bucks or so I collected in total was a big deal to me? Trust me, it wasn't. Hell, I can burn through that much on a trip to the bookstore. So - maybe next time you'll actually ASK me what its all about rather than jumping to conclusions? As far as your 'disappeared for a long time after that' - my job took me out of state for a while and the project I was working on didn't have Internet access available to me (DR hot site for a large bank.. they kind of frown on open net access) - since I was working 16-18 hour days my net surfing from the hotel was pretty damn limited. Next time, instead of jumping to conclusions, why don't you just ASK ME and I'll be glad to tell you. Now back to your regularly scheduled thread.

    -darknemus

  7. Anyway, Dark, how soon can this info lead us to a tracklisting, cover art etc.?

Impossible to say - wouldn't shock me AT ALL though if we get the info through third party sources before we do the GNR camp, though. As much as I'd love to see a 'proper' press release, this is Guns we're talking about and normal isn't exactly in their repertoire :)

I'm hoping early-mid next week but that's just rampant speculation on my part.

    -darknemus

  8. Call Best Buy tomorrow and get the UPCs yourself. I should have all six of them (with print screens, yes) tomorrow if a friend of mine with a good Best Buy contact comes through for me. No promises - but we set the 'wheels in motion' for such earlier this evening.

Even with the UPCs they're not going to help much until the databases are updated with more product info, anyway - so its not a huge deal, regardless. I'm just very curious as to what the hell 'version 1' 'version 2' and 'version 3' are - and I believe three or four people have, independently in this thread, mentioned those names as provided by Best Buy - UPCs or not.

    -darknemus

  9. No offense......but I think you are full of shit.

Every thing you have supposedly done.....I have tried and got different results.

Shit, my sister-in-law works at works at Wal-Mart (I know it isn't Best Buy) and she says there is no way a UPC is out for this cd yet.......

Umm, go to the website I linked in this thread.

    http://www.upcdatabase.com

On the left side of the screen, click 'Look Up'

    Paste the following UPC: 602517906075

Notice nothing is found - then click the 'Click here to see if there are any other items on file with the same prefix. ' button. You'll find a list of CDs with the same six digit prefix (the manufacturer's code)

Go look up the record label for some of those acts.

That's what I just did. Try it and see what results YOU get. Then come back and call me a liar again - kthnxbye!

    -darknemus

  10. Having the UPCs helps a LOT as that's' what we'll use to pull detailed info as soon as its in a retailers database (like I said, I'd expect that to happen pretty soon).

Best Buy's SKUs are great for Best Buy research.. the UPCs open up the research to, well, every damn retailer who'd carry the disc(s).

thanks for the compliment, btw - I'm just goofing off sitting across from my girlfriend and cackling, a lot, at the newest U.S. election poll results, so yeah, we're just bored and poking around :) I'd say a bunch more info will flow in the next few days is my guess.

    -darknemus

  11. There will be nothing on bestbuy.com until the CDs are migrated to it. RSS is their internal stock system, their website is a separate system. (Which is kind of odd, but whatever). If you contact a Best Buy on your own, you MUST ask them to check the RSS. Otherwise, they will say they find "nothing". Having the SKUs helps - but just a search for 'Chinese Democracy' will reveal all the info that's been offered in this thread, thus far.

Now - if this is really just a 1 or 2 week Best Buy exclusive then I'd suspect other retailers to start having this in their systems as well.

    Sooner rather than later, theoretically.

    -darknemus

  12. I understand your skepticism - smart move, you are, after all, a GNR fan. I'm sure several of us will call BBs tomorrow and get independent confirmation or denial of the 'Vinyl SKUs'.

I'm a hell of a lot more interested in just what the differences are between 'version 1' 'version 2' and 'version 3' - thats what I'm hyped about :)

    -darknemus

  13. Guys - come on, lets not argue over stupid stuff like this.

The SKUs are accurate, we know that much - I doubt the guy's lying about the UPC - I'd love to get the rest of those UPCs though as they're what's going to lead us to good info / details on the products.

    -darknemus

  14. so here we go once more.

There will be 3 count em 3 let me say it again THREE editions of Chinese Democracy that will be released at Best Buy.

These three will be in both CD and in LP format.

The release date that the best buy stock system is showing is 11-25-2008 which conflicts with some reports that have been made in the past few days

oh yeah and if you want to believe me here is the sku for one of the copies

    SKU: 9111016

    UPC 602517906075

    Street date : 11-25-2008

I think we are fucking close :)

This has already been discussed in the like 3 billion page thread :) Although, admittedly, the UPC is a new thing :) I don't usually play forum cop but maybe we should merge this with the existing thread just for ease of reading.

    -darknemus

  15. Those of you asking for recordings, screenshots, etc - do you like, not believe us? You've got 4 or 5 independent confirmations on this stuff now. Call Best Buy yourself if you'd like - you've been given the SIX different SKUs now and the price points. Its a 5 minute phone call if you really still have your doubts.

    -darknemus

  16. I bet it will be 3 different covers....that is what AC/DC is doing in walmart...

I only found a 'red' version and the 'deluxe' version (priced differently) - any links to the others?

I'd love to see if they use the same SKUs.

    -darknemus

  17. Hang on there - over on CD.com they are saying the $19.99 price is a 'Best Buy edition'

Now - if there are three different 13.99 SKUs and three different 19.99 SKUs and the 'Best Buy edition is NOT vinyl.. then are they 'special editions' of the three different CDs?

As in, are we seriously looking at the potential for a three album release here?

I really wish I had those supposed vinyl SKUs.

    -darknemus

  18. The SKUs in BBs Computer are referred to as follows:

    9111016 - Chinese Democracy

    9111034 - "Version 2" (also Chinese Democracy)

    9111052 - "Version 3" (also Chinese Democracy)

For the hell of it, I called the Best Buy in Pueblo, Colorado (I remembered their stupid zip code from those commercials in the early 90's)

There is no further indication in the system of what the three different versions are.

Also - he mentioned that the CDs are scheduled to be 'released' on October 28th - that does NOT mean necessarily album release, he thought it might mean like, taking pre-orders and the like.

(I didn't ask about the vinyl - didn't want to push my luck)

    -darknemus

  19. Lets say they are three different covers. (Quite possible, I'm not discounting that possibility)

Is there really enough of a market for vinyl to also do three different covers for the vinyl edition?

Just one of those things that make you go "hmmmm"

    -darknemus

  20. Just some quick rampant speculation on the different CD SKUs.

    A. They're priced the same which suggests to me they are not like 'enhanced CD' versions or 'collectors edition' versions of the same disc.

    B. I can't find any other Best Buy albums on their website with 'different covers' - I know they're out there, but can someone dig it up so I can see if the SKUs are the same for different colored covers?

    C. This is the RAMPANT SPECULATION part. Could this be the 'three albums' we've heard about over, and over, and over again?

    -darknemus

  21. I just got back from best buy and guns n roses chinese democracy is indeed in their rss internal system.

It still states november 25th as the release date which can change anytime to the 23rd or other depending on who is releasing something that day. the appetite for destruction is a limited edition import and will only be carried online and doesnt include any new or unreleased material

I managed to find out there will be 3 cd versions and 3 lp versions most likely just differnt covers or bonus tracks

    all 3 cds have different sku #s 9111016 , #9111034, 9111052 with same price of $13.99

i didnt get the lps sku #S because i wasnt able to write anything down or take a picture of the screen

but there were 3 all with a $19.99 price point.

You got a hell of a lot more info than I was able to - good show :)

    3 SKUs.. intriguing.
