I'm tempted to do the same, although i have a suspicion that as soon as it leaks or get digitally release I will cave at the first 2 seconds

Last time I ordered anything from GN'R was the Shadow of Your Love vinyl, and if I'm not misremembering, it took a good while before I got it in my hands.

Hoping the digital release comes sooner rather than later, because this whole General debacle is making me the most anxious I've ever been as a GN'R fan!

  2. 1. Red Dead Redemption 1

Probably the first game which hooked and immersed me with its narrative and large open world. John Marston, Bonnie McFarlane, Dutch and Abigail remain some of my favourite characters in any media.

    2. Portal 2

A toss between the first and second one. Portal remains a masterpiece, yet Portal 2 expanded and improved upon it. Love the comedic aspects and narrative, not to mention the characters and puzzles. Lost count of how many times I've replayed this.

    3. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Kill enemies, plant the bomb, defuse the bomb. A simple concept with such a high ceiling. Lots of fond memories with my buddies playing this throughout the years.

    4. Half-Life 2

    Need I say more?

    5. Garry's Mod

Love the sandbox aspect and the endless possibilites within Gmod. One of my favourite pastimes was to download several different character models and maps and trying to make short ''films'' with the camera function. Wish I still had some of those somewhere!

    6. Audiosurf

A sort of race game where the race tracks are based upon songs you've downloaded on your PC. I still hold the record on many a GN'R songs and leaks!

    7. The Walking Dead (Season 1)

One of the best stories made within the Walking Dead universe. Stylistically it holds up beautifully and the performances are fantastic. More of an interactive movie, but it is a great experience.

    8. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Lots of fun memories on the multiplayer!

    9. Spore

Loved creating the most vile creatures imaginable and ruling the universe with them!

    10. Deer Hunter 2005

The first PC game I played. Haven't touched this in over a decade, but the theme song just never leaves me. Had to learn it on guitar eventually!

  3. Definitely the best that The Walking Dead has had to offer ever since the comics ended! Really digging the new characters, especially Isabelle. It's a tiny stroke of genius to have Isabelle take on more of a leading roil with Daryl acting as a foil, where he usually serves best as a character. There's some really cool concepts, and the walker variants/walker experimentations are a welcome addition for me.

Honestly can't remember where I was actively anticipating a new episode every week, what a breath of fresh air!

Anyone else hoping the “who would do this to you?” X2 lines at the end of @evader’s mix are in the released version? I love those bits lol

I just realized those parts do not appear after the screaming part in the party clip, so Evader re-looped that end piece.

speaking of that party, didn’t @Mindray11 say he heard another song played that was more piano based? Did it have vocals? Was it “Perhaps”?

I've trained myself to repress the phone recording and Evader's mix from my memory, so I have no idea what to expect anymore from The General.

Although I do like the ''who would do this'' lines...

  5. State of Grace and The General are not the same song, and I don't understand where this came from

Based upon the clips of The General from the afterparty and the State of Grace leak, you have to be reaching far to tie these together. The motifs/riffs are similar, but they are not close to being the same. They're played in different keys, they have different structures and feature no resemblance to eachother except the motifs/riffs with the b5.

  6. This is so insane. A song that's been 20+ years in the making, and discussed on these forums ever since. Something many of us have considered to be the holy grail of GN'R music, and in just a short while it's actually gonna be released!

I've been reading this forum for about 12-13 years and this song has constantly intrigued me ever since I first read about it, and especially after hearing the Rock in Rio intro + the afterparty recording. I want to keep my expectations in check, but this is too fucking cool!

I hope as many of us don't listen to the leak when it inevitably comes before release, and we can finally holds hands and sing kumbaya to The General during release. THE GENERAL!!

How are they priviliged. The whole planet is in ruin and the dead rule. They have to fight for everything they want or need and always have to be aware of the dead and other humans who want what they have.

I don't think anyone is having a good time in this world.

You misunderstood me, I meant privileged in terms of the vast core of survivors being totally normal members of society, with the apocalypse turning them into hardened warriors.

I phrased it a little poorly reading it back.

  8. Crazy to think the reunion has been going on for 7+ years. 8 years since news broke that Slash and Axl were friends. What a day that Troubadour show was!

Funny also how in the time since the reunion I’ve joined three bands and quit in two of them, one of which released two singles. The one I’m still in has released two albums since 2020 :P

Semi-humblebrag but point being is that you can easily release something. Do it under a pseudonym if legalities are in the way!
