  1. Its the happy ending the whole fucking cinema is praying for.

I think it could be hugely cathartic and definitely profitable for the guys to go out there and do it.

Surely 50 something year old men could get over themselves and have some fun for $20M each for a year's work?

    Then again...

Axl could do what he wanted afterwards, the questions about the beef with Slash could be dismissed as old hat and he could release any kind of wacky cinematic electronic shit he wants and not be judged.

The first sentence of your comment could be turned into into a great line for some lyrics.

  2. Nice work! They are both cool mixes, the guitars sound very close to the source material. What gear did you use? Was it a live drummer? I think out of the two, the Nightrain mix edged it; the snare was a bit too "round" in Rocket Queen,it needed more crack to it. Still, I would be proud if I were you! If I could do a passable Rose impression, I would be happy to sing with you guys.

  3. WOF over AL even though The Dissident is a huge piece of shit.Title track, Wicked Stone, Bent To Fly, 30 Years, Beneath The Savage Sun are all standouts for me. The production is also much slicker on WOF, which may not be to everyone's liking, but there's no knocking how good those drums sound.

  4. Anyone here tried out the Jet City JCA 22h? I want to get one, but I have heard mixed things about them. Plus there is only one good video on YouTube of it and the rest sound pretty shit (although that may not be the amp's fault).

I've never played one, but some people like them a lot, especially when they're modded, Friedman and Soldano (he designed the circuits for them I think) mod those pretty often. Though you're in the UK..... Dan Gower would probably do it.

Are you looking specifically for low watt tube heads? Or just curious about the Jet City?

I am looking for something between 5 and 20 watts, if the Jet City sounds like the good video (the one on their website), then that will do, but I am open to suggestion. I want something that sounds good out of the box rather than having to get it modded.

I don't know much about low watt amps tbh. The Marshall SL5 is great, I owned one for a bit. People seem to really like the Bogner Atma, but they're not cheap. Blackstar I think has the HT5 which people also seem to like.

I have a Blackstar HT-5 at the moment, they is the amp I have used on most of my recordings. The amp itself is great, but the speaker is a little mushy, so I am going to get a 2x12 with v30's in for the proper rock sound. I thought while I was at it I would pick up another amp head for a little bit of tonal variance, the JCA22h appealed due to the low cost and full features.

  6. I am 35 and got into GNR when I was 12, so '92, during the Illusion tour. I remember all my money went on magazines and every two weeks I would be at the newsagent checking Kerrang magazine for any news on the band. By the end of the year I had all four albums on cassette (!) and it was pretty much all I listened to. I watched the Paris show hundreds of times with my friends and the music on those for albums still remains my most listened to music to this day. Back then whilst they were all still together any mention of them ever was exciting. Great times! The only bad bit was my mum wouldn't let me go and see them in 1993 at Milton Keynes as she thought everyone at the gig would be on heroin.

  7. Just listened to them all, I love it. Straight up rock/hard rock, need more of that in the world. I kinda see the Bon Jovi thing, but I wouldn't have thought of it myself. I can definitely hear GNR influence in a lot of these songs, and in the tone too!

If you ever happen to move to east coast US, PM me.

Thanks Omar! Great feedback, we do need more rock in the world.

  8. Thanks for the comments! I am the vocalist, I haven't been compared to Bon Jovi before!

I am not a Bon Jovi fan per say but think I he has a unique voice so certainly did not mean it in a negative way. It was just my first impression listening to your songs at low volume in my office. Will have to listen with some good headphones later when I get a chance.

I will say I think your music is better then most of the stuff I hear today. The music business is really tough to make your mark in these days so good luck and hope you have success with your music.

I took it as a complement, he has a great voice. Thanks for the feedback, I make the music because I love making music; I would be the happiest man alive if I could earn a living out of it, but as you say, it is very hard to do!

As for modern music, I kind of got bored of it in the middle of the last decade, apart from maybe 4 or 5 bands. There are still so many cool bands that I never got around to listening to during my teens (90s) and in my dad's era (60s and 70s) so I would rather pursue that.

  9. Hey everyone,

On the suggestion of another member I have put together a Soundcloud playlist with the tracks I have earmarked for my album. The demos are in various stages; some are just the first verse and chorus, some are recorded with amp sims rather than live guitars and one was tracked with my old band, but as I don't have the separates, it is unmixed and unedited. The songs are in rough order of how they will appear on the finished record, I have two more tracks that I may add to the ten here and will upload them when I have recorded them.

    Any feedback would be great!

  10. Does anyone know why there was such a volume drop on some of Izzy's guitar parts on the UYI records? You listen to AFD and it is true dual guitar volume, in fact, Izzy choice of lower gain crunch style distortion fills out the guitars low end perfectly.

Then you listen to DTJ and DAB, there is hardly any guitar on the left channel.

  11. Glad you guys like them! I would like to start a thread about the project; It has been a long time since I started on it. I am out of the UK until tomorrow, so I will post one up once I am back.

I have got a ten track album of demos (even more that didn't make the cut) so it would be cool to get some feedback from you guys.

  12. Just signed up to this site the other day, I have always been a GN'R fan; I bought AFD on cassette back in 1991 and no band has come close since. I started reading this site when it came up in a Google search for something Axl related a few weeks ago. There are some really hardcore fans here!

Anyway,I thought I would make my first post here, introducing myself and my music. The project is called Sound Of A Gun; at the moment everything on the Soundcloud page is my playing, but I should have a lead guitarist, bass player and drummer for the proper recordings.

All the recordings, arrangments, production and mixing is me as well, so if you go back you will hear a noticable decrease in quality! Anyway, here are a couple of the latest tracks:

Looking forward to getting to know some real GN'R fans!

Awesome! Especially Hope Still Remains. Where are you located? Also would be sweet to know your gear/recording set up if you get a chance to post in The Gear Thread in this section.

Im in metro Detroit, and am in a metal band named Mound Road Engine, we dont play as much, but, we keep our shows packed out. Supply and demand, lol.

Couldn't find any studio recordings, but I liked how Digga and Live In Me sound live, any studio recordings on the net?

Thanks man! I am in Nottingham in the UK. Glad you like the tracks. I will post my set up on the gear page in a little bit, just watching a bit of TV at the moment.
