I'll never understand why some people were so offended by Axl's decision not to show up. It was painfully obvious that they were inducted in their first year of eligibility because some people thought they could make a reunion out of it. Props to Axl for not playing ball.

The actual event was pretty cringey anyway. Green Day inducting members of the band, who then played songs with Myles Kennedy.

Yeah, well they wouldn't have had to do songs with Myles if Axl had fucking showed up. Also, Guns were automatic first ballot no matter what.

And what's the big deal about a band playing together anyway?  What is this, the Middle East peace accords or something? It's a fucking rock band. Get up there and play Paradise City godamn it!

Really? I don't remember that, only the rivalry/feud between GN'R and Motley Crue. Although living in England, I didn't read the magazines you mention, it was  Kerrang, Raw and Metal Hammer over here.

Yeah. In the very early days there was a lot of trash talk back and forth between Poison and GNR. Mostly instigated by GNR as I recall. Slash and Axl in particular. They used to try a little too hard with their whole 'we're not like all the other Hollywood bands/bands this magazine writes about' thing. Which they weren't, but still. And the main target of that was always Poison. And I don't like Poison but looking back I can kind of see their side.

I am not a fan of the lyrics to Fall to Pieces while I don't mind This I Love's lyrics all that much. I don't hate Fall to Pieces by any means, but think they are a little over repetitive. Your comment made me wonder about that so I decided I need to go see if I could figure out why that is.

Some interesting stats (excel what can't it do?):

    Fall to pieces:

    Total words:  170
    # different words:  48
    Top used word:
word      # used    percentage of song
        I'm            15       8.82%
        Falling        14       8.24%
        I                14       8.24%
        Pieces        13       7.65%
        To             12       7.06%
        Fall            10       5.88%
        All               9       5.29%
        Alone           9       5.29%
        Down          9       5.29%
        Every          8       4.71%
        Total#         113      66.47%

    This I love:

    Total words    299
    # different words    109
    Top used word:
word    # used    percentage of song
        I              16       5.35%
        ME           16       5.35%
        She            8       2.68%
        So              8       2.68%
        her             7       2.34%
        It               7       2.34%
        God            6       2.01%
        the             5       1.67%
        eyes          5        1.67%
        say            5        1.67%
        Total #      83       27.76%

The top ten used words in Fall to Pieces takes up 66% of the song and truthfully, Fall, Falling and Fell are all similar to my ear and if you account for that the top ten words is 75% of the song. Falling to Pieces is repetitive. This I Love may be overly sappy or whatever, but it is not nearly as repetitive.

Okay but that's just the lyrics. Musically, This I Love is extremely repetitive. The sing-songy verse melody in particular. Plus the whole thing seems to drone on and on for-fucking-ever. Terrible song.

I think that's correct. But here is the catch, Axl doesn't keep that 50% for himself only. He pays Frank, Richard, Melissa, TB, etc. So that 50% ends up being like 30% or less in his own pocket. Those people have been hired by him. Adler said that Fernando paid him. Obviously Fernando didn't pay with his own money. Where Adler's money came from?

I don't think it works like that. At least not if the 'big three' are really partners in this. It would be 50% of the money that's left after the band and crew's salaries are paid.
