To 95% of the world's population it WILL be new...us die hards here know otherwise but Joe bloggs on the street will not know its from 86 unless explicitly told.
Yeah but Joe isn't buying a 600 dollar box set...or even 180 for that matter. That's what's weird about this, the people it's aimed at already know this stuff, and the people who don't know it wouldn't ever buy something like this.

Needs more crappy knick knacks.

At this point I believe the original 5 could come to all of our homes and slip us a new album and a hooker and there would still be something to complain about. Like why didn't Adler get to talk more or why are there only 12 songs on the new album or why was the hooker blonde?
Dude, the only one crying about Adler is you.

Fla Fla Flo Hi an idiot. He has no idea what he's talking about. There's no incentive for them to do that. Whatever impact that could have had has been squashed by the NITL tour.
And I am pretty much an original lineup purist, so I'm not saying that's a good thing. Believe me I'd love to see it. But it won't happen.

They have a timer on a website counting down to a reveal and in the meantime he announces what it is. All I tried to say is that's the kind of thing that gets him in trouble with them.
Who gives a fuck. Seriously, everybody knows it's a box set of some kind so what's the big deal? He didn't announce it and it's not his job to protect their 'reveals' anyway.

if guns n roses reunited in 2018 they could record a bee gees song that i am sure it would sound fantastic
The 'wake up it's time to play' version of Shadow of Your Love has some of Axl's greatest ever singing imo. He'd never be able to sing it like that now. Best to leave it alone.

Wasn't Van Halen's last album re-recorded demos that didn't make initial cuts? That went over really well with the general public.
It was about half new stuff and half reworked old stuff. All the old stuff had new lyrics though.

But once you know where the billboards are. What are you supposed to do?
Help them advertise. It's like the modern day equivalent to a street team. If this were the '8os it would be handing out stickers or something equally thrilling.

That static thing is deliberate.

Also, how sad would it be if the first thing they managed to record in 100 years is a Hollywood Rose song from 110 years ago. lol. Sad and somehow perfect.

I don't know. The vocals definitely don't sound like current Axl but the guitars do seem different. I really hope they wouldn't go mess with something classic. Any re-recording at all defeats the purpose of a thing like this completely imo. If this is about Appetite then it should be about what that band did then. Only.

A lot of sensational and naive headlines surrounding this.
Common sense says an AFD reissue/box set but even with those expectations this band always finds a way to disappoint.
Yeah but to be fair to the people writing those headlines, this is exactly why the band does things in this super-cryptic way. Whipping up that kind of reaction is the intended result.

That Appetite For Destruction is one of the greatest rock albums of all time goes without saying, and it's one of my favorite albums ever personally, but this reissue package will have to be pretty goddamn spectacular indeed to make me want to buy it. Because..well because I've had Appetite for Destruction for 30 years and I can't really get exited about that music.
And as far as extras go, I am not really what you'd call a bootleg collector, but again...it's been 30 years. Pretty much everything has been heard by pretty much anyone who's interested...I think. I guess we'll see but it better be pretty damn special or they can forget it.
And a special merch line to go with a remaster? Who does that? Along with the billboards it seems like a pretty big production over a re-release. So maybe there's more but I doubt it.
-
Remaster for the all important 31st anniversary. Naturally.
Why they think that's billboard worthy who knows but I think the hashtag seals it. It's just something to do with the record.

I can't relate to the idea that Appetite For Destruction is just Sunset Strip cock rock or some how a lesser album than UYI. Appetite For Destruction is not only one of the greatest rock albums ever, the songwriting is far better and far more consistent than what they did later. Their best album by a million miles.

Yeah I had a feeling it was going to be some American Idol guy. Pretty lame imo but what are you gonna do. I love Steven but any singer that really had something going on wouldn't need this gig.
-
Gotta hand it to Slash. With the mountain of cash he's sitting on from NITL he doesn't need to do this. But he does it because he really loves to play.

Mike Clink also worked on some great UFO albums. As engineer not producer...but still. He's got some cool non-Guns stuff in his discography.
-
Agreed. Axl can't touch classic AC/DC as a lyricist, but he could do better than the recent stuff. The question is will Angus let him. I'm guessing he won't.
As far as booziness, I'd say not very boozy these days. Angus is a lifelong teetotaler and I doubt Stevie and Slade are out there tearing it up either. Axl is probably the booziest guy involved here.
-
I doubt Axl will be writing anything if there's an album. This will be more of an 'AC/DC featuring Axl Rose' type of thing with Angus in charge of everything.

This is the same show he face planted no?
He played great so what if he tripped. btw, if you watch that show closely you'll see Slash vomits during Civil War. But he also played great so who cares.

The two guys who were left out of the project were two guys who have not been in real bands since Guns N' Roses. That tells you all you need to know right there.
Yes, they've been in sporadic solo projects where they've dictated the slow pace and the touring schedule, but neither one of them are "band oriented." They're semi retired and they live off their GnR royalties.
A working musician is just that, a musician who works, who hustles. Steven and Izzy haven't had to hustle since the turn of the nineties.
Number of albums released since UYI:
Izzy - eleven
Axl - one

Well like many here I either have or have heard everything in the $179 except I guess the two Clink things. So that's a pass for me. Thanks but not thanks.
