I wasn't comparing their styles etc...I meant in terms of how well he's doing for his age.  To my ears Billy sounds just as bad as Axl.  I gave Axl bonus points for his rasp.  But you know, I literally haven't heard BI for like, 20 odd years, and to hear him live like that for the first time...bit of a shock.   Makes me wonder what people who haven't heard Axl in 20 years must think (outside of a show).  Steven Tyler still sounds incredible.  Maybe genetics plays a part too.

Ya Steven sounds great but a few years ago at their show he lip sync' to 3 of their songs. Maybe too tiring for him?

There's a lot videos on YouTube and photos on internet of him with fans after the shows..Right time and right place, that's all. He's not that dick that you think to take photos with the fans.

Ya if you hang out long enough after a show you may get lucky. Also if you hear the right words you can find things out and get invited to after parties. There are some clever people out there who take meeting the band very serious.

Where were you? You must have been right near me. I was right in front of Slashes talk box mike. I had the Soundgarden shirt on.

No I wasn't near that area but it sounds like u had an amazing view as well! 😍😍

His name is Freddie and although Axl is a very handsome man, I think Freddie is extremely good looking, certainly a deeper beauty but that will vary with everyone and besides the point. We are talking about talent.  The default for those who don't know Queen's work is, "Freddie's voice was theatrical", so they can seem like they know something, you just know the soundbite, doesn't mean much.  He wasn't a god damn Broadway singer, he was a rock singer and yes, he had a number of styles no doubt but if you knew any of his rock songs, you would not call him "theatrical". I hate Broadway musicals because of the heinous singing that jangles every last one of my nerves, that sure as hell is not Freddie. Had it been the case, there are far better "theatrical" , professionally trained snores out there and there would be no Freddie.

And when it comes to anger, frustration and sorrow, no one in rock history,  expressed it like Freddie. But he also was able to convey love and hope, mortality, fear, joy, Freddie could reach emotional depths that I don't think anyone has ever been able to replicate musically. He was a highly developed person, a conscious one. Someone like Axl, could be reached and understood by Freddie, but not the reverse, Freddie could also make sense of things, teach. He was on another level in every respect.

Don't listen to Queen ever, but it is disingenuous to negate what Freddie is in order to create a contrast or provide a false analysis.

No it's not a sound bite. It's what I feel (if you read my words). It's my opinion. There's nothing wrong with theatrics. He has good control and range. But it's not gritty and dirty. I prefer an edge. In my opinion Freddy lacks that. As for emotional depth...that's your opinion. I feel Tina Turner and other soul singers are far more "touching" in their use of their voice (I'm not talking about lyrics here). This, however, is based on opinion.

  4. Obviously, personally I choose Axl...his whole package...the vocal range...the danger, unpredictability, the anger, frustration, the sorrow...also visually in his prime he was FAR more attractive (!!)

Freddy is obviously more talented vocally but I feel his voice is more theatrical vs. raw rock n' roll

  5. Had a great show...the best for me this year! The energy was intense and many of the fans were fun to chat with. I got to go with some of my best friends as well so that was nice...I danced my butt off so it was a good work out 😃

i tossed a thong up there during Mr.B, Axl picked it up, smiled, twirled it around and hung it in the drum set. If anyone has vid/pic of that please share 🤣🤣🤣🤣

to all the fellow gunners out there; enjoy the rest of the shows and I'll see ya in the fall 🤓

  6. Anyone have comments on Jarmo who runs the HTGTH forum and is admin on the GNR fan club forum? I seen him around the stage where security stands taking a few pix. I was waving to him and calling his name; when he looked over at me he smirked. I was a bit taken aback.

Not sure if this is your pic but Megan wants to know whose pic this is in IG

I was 2nd from rail again and it was fun but man I was exhausted! Lots of standing and walking...I think Buffalo kicked my arse. My husband really enjoyed it but I was puckered out...and of course my Jaegermeister got confiscated (woman at the gates of course 😳😰)  hubby bought me 2 double shots vodka but it's not the same as contraband booze 😁

As for those saying they never do new songs; ummm happy Birthday! 😘

Im looking forward to my Ottawa date and then a nice long bath.

Nice to read that someone else is excited, there's a bit of negativity on this thread! My OH and I are also making a long trip to Buffalo (see above). Road trip will be awesome, I can only imagine the atmosphere in your car on the way!!

I'm a fan since Appetite days but only got to see the band for the first time on this tour, in Ireland in May... Cannot wait to see them for the second time!!

Re feet... You should be OK, adrenaline will carry you along on the day. We had 12 hours of standing at the Slane gig (doors for early entry opened at 11 AM, show ended 11 PM) and we were tired but OK. Your feet might ache the next day but it will be worth it!

Re hair... in my experience, simple is the way to go... any fancy styles won't last, especially with heat, crowds, queues for the toilets.

Then again if the venue is EMPTY as some predict here we might have the toilets all the ourselves! :facepalm:

    Hear hear!!!

12 hours now that's long! Yes originally I was gonna wear my Michael Kor wedges (I've worn them to the other GNR shows) but I think I'm opting for either flats or runners.

Honestly, I think this message board and other FB groups are negative overall. I'm a positive person who had a blast at the shows and am going to 6 this year!!

P.S. Hubby's family from Ireland the castle must've been a mythical backdrop!! ????

  11. I'm getting super excited. My first time pit on NITL tour for me (went to 4 shows last year and was soooo difficult to get good seats). Driving from Toronto with four of us...getting there probably just after doors open. I wonder what the pit will be like; I'm not gunning for rail on this show, so maybe able to walk around/use bathroom etc. I just wonder how my feet and hair will hold up ???

Dodger Stadium was big. But divided in two at the middle. We had Slash side and Duff side. Right at center where the was a catwalk. It was packed there on both sides. It kinda looked like pit mosh. I stayed away from the catwalk at the midle. Still I had great view. Axl, Slash and Duff moved from one side to the other of the stage. The only regret about not being right at the center of the stage was when Adler performed. I got a good view of him. But he was playing drums at the center back of the stage obviously. So people at the center I guess had better view than me

could one go from one pit to the other? Can someone swap out to be permanently on the other side? I ask cuz my hubby is on R and I'm on L!

I clicked on the "Official Platinum Seats" section during the Nightrain presale and saw GAPIT listed as available to buy (Qty.2)

I hesitated, but after I refreshed and saw them going, I jumped on a pair

    Are you going my friend?

Do you mind sharing how much these were? I'm wondering if any pits were released as general public...I doubt it. TIA

Cool, the Right or the Left side? My friends are looking to pick up a pair and I hope we won't end up on the separate ends of it.

you know what I don't know...I guess I could look into that...but I'm sure I can figure something out the day of if we're not together (if you gotta trade your spot, let me know lol)

lol i dont think our lady peace will get booed. well... maybe... we booo our own hockey team quite often so lol i actually hope they do get booed but wtv i mean ppl there for the nostalgia might appreciate them but i dont know anyone whos REALLY into both bands... i mean a7x is opening for metallica and i can actually see a resemblance in  the two bands... but gnr and our lady peace? seriously would love to know who thought that was a good idea

surprisingly a lot of people I've talked to actually were happy to find out OLP was opening! strange, huh?

  15. I'm in the minority and am happy with what I got...seeing great shows w/ my friends...making out to NR w/ my sexy hubby in LV (my 12 year old self couldn't ever imagine that)...and I'm looking fwd to a handful of dates this summer/fall as well. I don't expect anything more...I'm not greedy. I don't see any new music coming out in the future and honestly I don't care if they do b/c deep inside I probably wouldn't "love" the new music. Nothing can replace my feeling of a pre-teen/teen listening to their music...so it's more of a nostalgic act for me. Even seeing Metallica this summer...you think I wanna hear their new stuff? nah...just give me what I grew up on. I just like the fact I get to dress up, look and feel amazing, dance to my heart content and get out of the house! :P
