I bought my London tickets approximately 1 minute after they went on sale and Monday :)  Am still toying with the idea of doing Paris and / or Spain too, but I'm just so broke after remortgaging my life to go to Vegas and NY this year . £165 for a bigger area than the US pit.............

Maybe someone should ask them on twitter... I'm not gonna get any sleep until this mystery is solved.

I already did.... no one has replied... but Marc Canter has confirmed it was Slash. I'm now reassessing everything I thought I knew to be true about GNR ;)

I heard that too! Other question: the "no I wont" intro female voice in The Garden..it's even in the demo. Who is it and what is its meaning? no one could ever answer me that and it's the type of question I'd first ask over anything else if I ever met them.

I wondered that too but figured it was just a random sample. I thought she was saying "no one home" though... as in "you know you're alone.. your friends they aren't at home"...

I fully accept that for a lot of people this thread will be the shittest thing ever, but when you've obsessed over these songs for 23 years it's actually quite entertaining to discuss shit you've always wondered

The "Hey Fuckers" thing? That's Slash.

And he sings a piece of Dust N' Bones, the "get out on your own and youuuu..." part.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. Thank you for sharing those!! I stand corrected. I feel like everything I thought I knew about the world is no longer true :P. That's some great footage of Slash from '88 too, never seen it before.

He sounds like that on Lies when he shouts "Heeeeyyyy fuckers!!! Suck on Guns N' Fuckin' Roseessss!!!"

    That's Duff!!!!!!!!!!! Isn't it?

What kind of a Guns N' Roses fan can't recognize Slash's hammered Americanized British brutish slur? It's 1000% Slash. He even sounds a bit like that it Dust N Bones.

Now what I'd like to know is who says the beginning words of UTLH... I think it's Izzy.

Which bit in Dust N Bones? That song is sung by Izzy? Good question on the first bit of Used to Love Her though.... I always thought Duff. But now this thread is making me question everything I thought I knew :wow:

Nostalgia is strong with this thread. Nothing wrong with the newest kohd, it's a constant evolution, and it shows. I especially like axl's beautiful new melodies to it and Slash's tough and eclectic guitar. I think Richard should try to calm down and temper because his solos are kinda annoying next to Slash.

Nothing to do with nostalgia. Its about how you prefer a song to sound. It's just personal taste.

  6. So glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks this. @Kasanova King it's always been one of my favourites to watch live (through the TV) and was looking forward to seeing it in real life so much at Vegas. It was the only thing that disappointed me about the whole night. .

I don't mind the Ritz version, but LOVE the Illusion era live version of it. I even like the reggae..... :takethat:

For me Freddie Mercury is the pinnacle performance of that song. But I know it's all about personal taste, I'm sure others will disagree

They need to play more LIES in general

    Reckless Life
    Nice Boys
    Move To The City
    Mama Kin
    Patience
    Used To Love Her
    You're Crazy (best version ever)
    One In A Million

Look at those songs!?!?!?!?! How does this album not get more love???

I would kill to see The AFD5 do You're Crazy and UTLH similar to the Live/88 Era versions.. So good...

Lies is my favourite album which is not a popular opinion, but true for me - I WISH it got more air time at the shows. People seem to forget it. I also love the drums on it... would love to see Adler doing some of those songs

There's a 100% chance I'm going to bring this up on my work conference call later today. I'm sure I'll hear crickets but I don't give a fuck. Those assholes are always going on about sports shit I couldn't give 2 shits about, so we're gonna discuss this historic event for a minute goddamnit.

I literally did this at work yesterday but had to stop talking midway through as the silence was just just deafening

Agreed. I'm not really sure why that is either. I guess Americans get soft as they older (not me though LOL). I just remember the excitement level that typically existed at every rock concert I ever attended during the 80's and 90's. And not just GNR. But GNR was off the hook. The pits were bouncing every single song. You had to fight your way to the front. Everyone was louder.

I can't recall the last time I saw a crowd like that.

Agree, that's the GNR crowds that I remember too. Think it's partly a generational thing too. Doesn't stop me from still going completely crazy anyway, even if I'm doing it on my own :headbang: (with @Kasanova King out there somewhere doing the same)

Nah, it's just the byproduct of age and camera phones, since most everyone seems to want to record the moment rather than enjoy being in it.

Back in the 80's and 90's when the core of GN'R fans here in America were younger, there was plenty of body slamming, mosh pits, dancing and general craziness going on. If you watch clips from the 80's and early 90's, you'll notice Axl often stopping shows because fans are too rowdy and nearly killing one another.

Yeah exactly and I'm from that era of GNR fan so that's what I'm used to seeing! I do think the British crowds these days are still more rowdy than what I've witnessed in the US but I totally agree the camera phone thing plays a massive part of it wherever you are too. I was in pit in Vegas and the phone thing did my head in - such a buzz kill

  11. Literally still in shock. The best kind of shock there is. He has a smile on his face the whole way through - oh, and it sounds fucking AWESOME. Obviously. How it's supposed to sound. You guys see Slash smiling at him during My Michelle? I love it. So so happy for Steven, this will have meant so much to him. What a random time and place to do it though!

Izzy, we we're waiting for you...

Thank you! It won't seem real till I'm there...I'm so excited! I just did not want to regret never being able to see them live. :)

Exactly - sometimes you just have to not worry about money and go for it. Be warned though - once you've seen them it won't stop there... next thing you know you'll be booking tickets to South America at the end of the year

Yeahhhh!! Awesome news. I'm high-fiving you all the way from London

Yup @marlingrl03 I travelled all the way from the UK to Vegas solo in April - I agonized over it for ages and in the end thought FUCK IT! And was so glad that I did, it was literally one of the best few days of my life.  It's a cliche but with meeting up with people from this forum, it didn't really feel like travelling alone - you can obviously hang out with others or go off and do your own thing if you want to, so the best of both worlds! I will 100% be doing it again for the Europe shows - road trip anyone?  :headbang:

    Enjoy Seatlle @tsinindy - I can't wait for NY

    @emybdc :heart::heart::heart:
