The night felt like a  triumphant one to me. They played a mean show.

They delivered, and i could really feel Axl was giving it his all to this. I felt  what was particularly significant to guns was, they didn't pander to the Glastonbury audience but they also  didn't forget what made the general public welcome them into their hearts, in the first place.

Absurd was likely  unexpected for many of the Glastonbury crowd and many of the people at home  I'm sure. But, by axl singing that, for me, It kept the heart of this band beating. Shit got really real, they didn't bow down  to anyone, they never did. And, i think for that alone, in the general public memories being that they were known as "the most  dangerous rnr band in the world "  they kept their title.

Nicely, nicely executed boys n Melissa. You should all be very proud. And us gunners, should be proud to be part of a night(again) which will undoubtedly go down in history.

What really stood out was they did it their own way BUT I do think tailored the set in a way that would work best with the crowd/audience.

Safer vocal choices such as bad obsession, pretty tied up, down the farm (which I think was added on the setlist this tour for this show) has helped Axl to do the best with what's left in the songs where it mattered.

Did not play any songs where his voice has been ropey (such as TIL, Better, Coma, etc) which I think was very wise.

Shorter solo spots, particularly with RQ which is normally quite self indulgent was almost too mellow last night, but it helped keep the pace of the set tight.

It was a long strong set but it didn't outlive its welcome. They played plenty of deep cute for us fans but also played most of the hits the public would want.

Other than perhaps...adding a new song, I'm not sure that setlist could be much better. They edited it but as you still kept stuff they felt worked well. Along with the tightness of the band and Axl effort I don't think you could ask for much more in 2023 guns n roses and they did themselves proud, especially given how meh they've been at times in the not too distant past.

The most energy since the reunion began....especially as he had the injury in '16! He gave everything vocally but when he started running from the start and we are all like "pace yourself man!" He was flat out especially that first 30-40 minutes. It's like he recharged his batteries for this one specifically...you probably won't see him move as much all tour. It was fantastic to see. Far more energetic than AM who are almost half his age!

Actually in terms of energy it did remind me of those American 16 shows where he seemed to regain most of the swagger and confidence that he seemed to lose over the previous 5 years.

  3. Hugely energetic performance, the voice obviously not what it once was but I think he got everything he had left out of it and for the casual the main thing is he got every single big note required.

But yeah the energy he had was seriously impressive for 61. It would have been high energy performance even back in 06, yet alone in 2023.

Also it's very clear he has lost weight compared to 17-19 where he packed the weight on again after looking thinner in 16.

    Absolutely right.

I was having a conversation with a mate who appreciates Guns, and when I said he was 61 he immediately said how does he sound this good.

That gets lost in every write up and frankly on this board. There were moments tonight where he pulled out rasp that it makes no biological sense to come out of a 61 year old. That should be the headline really.

My girlfriend is a casual fan of GnR, she was impressed by Axl tonight, noting he could still get most of the notes, maybe weaker but that's no problem if he is still managing it.

What really impressed her was the sheer energy levels of the set. She was surprised that he is in his 60s and still moving around pretty freely, no obvious stiffness there. Indeed that could be said of the whole band as well.

Great job to the band, this is by far the most positive reaction I've seen about the band since 2016 shows. Great set, great energy, tight performance.

What happened to the people that said they'd never heard of Glastonbury and it wasn't a big deal at all?!

Did the refuse/deny branch of the GNR Defence League call them off when it emerged that the band did, indeed, think it was a big deal and worth taking seriously?

People really have underestimated Glasto, its right up there with Coachella/rock in rio. Kinda also like Woodstock as well on that front in terms of name recognition in the music industry.

This will be in the top 3 biggest gigs for the band since the reunion and it will be up there in the all time rankings as well I'm sure.

  6. The biggest risk is not from reviews imo bit that someone memes Axl and then it takes hold throughout social media.

Still pretty much every major band out there has done Glastonbury at some point, so even though there is a risk of the above uts another thing that sets a legacy.

Definate chance for something a little special ad well. Given Elton John will be around, I'd not rule out another November Rain duet or something totally off center. Its got the same kind of pull as Coachella and I fully expect at least one guest performer to join the band.

Axl in nightrain looks like himself from 2010, shit is like a multiverse.

Minus the facial hair your right, he's probably a similar weight as well now which is good given how he ballooned up towards the end of the 10s.

Obviously not the same sounding Axl anymore, but he did give it as good as he could do today, and the band sounded great on it. Really solid performance.

Whole set felt quite energized, not surprising given how much they habe switched the setlist up, must be hard not to get stale when your only switching 1 song up each leg out of 25-30.

No Perhaps and I'm not even disappointed. The setlist was so good and there's a very good reason to believe that we're gonna get Perhaps this year.

I dont think anyone can that dissapointed with no new song, we've got 3 songs that may as well be new given how long it's been since they last played them, several others that haven't been heard in the last 5 years+.

Plus Hard skool and Absurd aren't that old really.

Jury is out. There was a sort of setlist  that was very blurry and hard to read, and which they haven't really been following....so, who knows!

I think the setlist is very obviously real, of course the songs are getting mixed up but odds of ptu and bo showing up basically in the similar order they were on the setlist has to be close to 0 given they've both not been played since the early 90s

Sounds very good in some songs. Estranged rocks.

Yeah, what's clever is that the AI is clearly trying to mould the vocals from the source shows around the rock in rio vocals in terms of length. It generally does a decent enough job, though coma ending is a debately even more of a disaster than normal.

To the person who said this was just a simple paste job, its clearly not that simple. For a start you've gotta erase Axls vocals then replace them with appropriate vocals that match the time that note is sang. It's  amicably overdubbing several hours of singing, and when the AI picks appropriate choices, I've gotta say it does sound really quite good. Particularly slower based songs I find.
