First time I've seen this thread, I'm not THAT much of a DJ hater, but even if I wasn't - Why him? - Bumblefoot and Richard have done far more in their careers than he has.... and they're better guitarists. (I realise the whole competition wasn't of GNR guitarists, but I don't understand why he got it and the other GnR guitarists didnt)

gonna do the casino tower balcony room rate for the first show since its a weekday its cheaper and then the rest of my vegas trip ill go stay at the luxor or something. anybody know how to go about trying to meet Axl after the show? the pics from the last residency it looked like people always caught him in a hallway someplace but im unsure where to stand to wait, would really really like to meet him.

I think it's luck of the draw. The Joint is on the right hand side of the building but the HRH tower Suites are in a separate annex to the rest of the hotel - although Almost Famous said in 2012 Axl was in the Casino Tower (he got into some after party at his room), though part of me thinks Axl just rented that out for parties and had another suite in the HRH Suite Tower.

I haven't booked it yet but it's looking like I'll be there June 3rd - June 8th/9th. I've been looking all day and for me to fly UK - Vegas in May is nearly £1200 but in that week of June I can get a flight + Hard Rock Hotel stay for £920. If I could get another person with me it would be £780 but no luck so far. Went to the 2012 one and looking forward to this one as well - fuck the haters!

Edit: Also - has anyone seen or know of anyone else on in Vegas around that time? I've found Lionel Richie and Billy Joel but they both clash on GNR dates (I would only see Billy Joel for the record...)

If you're unaware/not a fan, Motley Crue are returning this September for a second residency at the joint. I'm not sure of the details of the first one but I know it was only within the last 18 months, and they haven't released any new material and as far as I'm aware don't have any immediate plans to. Do you think GNR could or would return in 12 months times or so?

Regardless on your opinions of whether the residency "was a success or not" they drew similar crowds to Crue (maybe even more?!), and personally having gone to 2 of the Guns shows I'd go again in a definite heartbeat.

My point though is he claimed this management has done much more than any management before them since 93. Not one damned song has been released under this management and until that happens, it's delusional to claim they've done more.

To be fair they've managed this band about about a year, we've had an Up Close N Personal Tour, A Vegas Residency, Some Interviews, and hopefully a DVD.

2002 - an aborted tour.

2003-2005 - more silence

2006 - a tour

2007 - a tour

2008 - an album (Which you can't put down to JUST Azoff)

I think he'd be open to it, it's just obviously all comparison to old guns/nuGnR would be forbidden - and would make him look like an idiot. I could imagine one of the panelists saying something like "It's like Axl's gone from hanging out with The Stones, where each member is famous and popular to hanging around with Nickelback, they're alot younger and no one cares about them"

They could do it again I think, 11 years have passed, the same amount of time as when they last did the VMA's with the old lineup - 2002 line-up.... but they need to have new songs, they can't do Jungle n PC, it'll just look stupid, I'd suggest one AFD song, a CD song and whatever 'new' song they have off an album.
