  1. Has anyone seen the video its on YouTube during the 2006 tour, it starts with axl introducing izzy and he says I thought you're joining us in Spain (?) and izzy says something axl tells the crowd he's (izzy) very religious. I've been trying to look for it again but no luck, if anyone knows the video I'm talking about, what did izzy reply to axl? If I'm not mistaken izzy was wearing a blue polo on the video. Thanks.

I've been puttering around Tumblr and found a cool page :shrugs: The gal claims she found a marriage license for he and Annecka dated 5/29/95. Other than that there's not much going on, I hope he tweets or does something soon! He always looks so thin that I worry and hope he's well.

I thought they got married around 91? he's already wearing a wedding ring around that time

  3. They probably just greeted him so the fans won't say they didn't and if they didn't make any kind of greeting it would seem that things are not ok.

The not talking to former acquaintances is probably part of the contract. Why won't he sign it if the money is that good. It's not like duff has any other way or opportunity of making this much money again. Neither is axl only slash is individually marketable

He looked very pissed off in the two YT vids from last year. But he also looked really worn out and old. Hope it was just the frustration with the GnR issue (whatever the issue really was) and nothing else.

Who can blame him aside from the financial part there's also the possibility of end of friendships. Especially with duff who has said that they have more of a frindship and don't only talk about music. He helped duff just about a year before as duff said and when things we're going up for him he seemed to just have disregarded izzy. Even if he was offered guest spots that's still kinda insulting like telling him that he's not really needed and unimportant. Add the Brazilian interview where it was in a way implied that it was his fault he's not there, wonder how he felt with diffs latest interview where to me it seems he minimalized izzys contribution to afd which is a far cry with what he use to say before. I know that it's been said by multiple people that izzy has no ego but he's still human with feelings so that must still have stung

A thread about the meaning of his songs would be awesome. We could go by theme (sex, love, drugs, moving on...), dig into them, try to guess if they are dedicated to someone in particular (dogs, Axl, ex-girlfriends...). I mean, we have a HUGE catalogue only with his solo work :headbang:

Go! That would be really nice :)

No. It's not just you. Btw I have always noticed that. Since the very begining of GNR. Everybody using a simple t-shirt with no sleeves, Slash shirtless and sweating like a pig and Izzy covered in clothes.

You're right!  Now that you've mentioned it, im most or majority of his pics he always seems covered up. Can't remember any recent pics where he's not wearing long sleeves.

I don't think Izzy loves giving interviews, but that would be no problem for a tour that has included little to no press. This was probably another Velvet Revolver situation- Izzy wanted to do a basic reunion with the Appetite5 plus Sorum for the first four shows, split the loot equally, and move on. Simple. Straight forward. Make some bank and give the people what they want. Axl/Slash and Duff wanted to do those four shows only as an opening shot towards a very lucrative 130 date, two year tour that Izzy was never going to fully commit to. There was no meeting in the middle. So here we are.

I agree with this , this is what I think too, he has been pretty consistent about the afd 5 only and other people has been quoted as saying that its what he wants. Maybe just the first few shows with whatever they were offered divided equally among them

@Tori72 maybe the loot tweet was in response to axl saying he wasn't there at all coz he's unreliable without explaining if it was for the whole tour or just the first few shows. Coz his first tweet was just regarding the April shows so maybe that's just what he meant, I think.

Or maybe he hasn't been sober for 26 years like we think? He's referenced drugs a lot in his solo lyrics so maybe he's relapsed before and that's why he's even more paranoid?

But I agree with the email thing, why not answer the music questions? That's just weird. Wasn't there another Marc interview where he said Axl wasn't happy that Izzy was working on the book with Marc and that's the main reason why Izzy pulled the plug on the interview? On top of the Desi/video thing?

Maybe he got scared that a few questions would lead to more, the way I understood it with Marc it was supposed to be just an interview then it turned into a video interview in his house then with people from his past. He probably thought it's better not to do anything at all preventing it from turning into something else

From my experience, sobriety is something addicts have to constantly maintain. I think it gets easier over time but if they go back to using, even just once, it's usually enough to put them right back to square one. For example, Phillip Seymour Hoffman was sober for 23 years before he relapsed. He had one drink at a wrap party thinking he'd be ok but, a week later he was drinking non stop and less than a year later he died from a heroin overdose. Izzy probably just doesn't want to put himself in a situation where he could slip up. And since Desi was Izzy's "heroin buddy" (Marc's words, not mine) maybe she's a big temptation for him?

I didn't Phillip Seymour Hoffman has been sober that long. That's really scary after all that time you would think that you'd be ok with a few here and there. It's like a lifelong commitment.

  9. The desi thing is kinda weird for me, its been 20 years at that time since they broke up and 18 years sober. Why would he freak out and it seems desi is ok with him based on her tweets to him. Would there still be temptation to drugs after such a long time? Serious question don't really know anyone recovering or similar I just assumed that its the first few years that's hard and you have to stay away from people causing temptation

I think you didn't  understand me. I mean, in the space between Izzy's departure until Slash's departure the band worked a lot, they did not surrender! And in that time they completed the tour, they released iconic videos in an era where MTV was still a good way to keep the band on the charts. November Rain, Do not Cry and Estranged videos still echo when it comes to Guns N 'Roses. Both Slash and Duff fulfilled all the commitments and were present at all times that made this band succeed. As I said before, much of that fortune they are making on this tour is the result of the work they did during the Illusions era, they were already successful before that tour, but what they did during the Illusions era made them even bigger. And yes, Slash returning to share the stage with Axl is the headline of this tour. That's why I don't think it's fair that "equal split" thing.

Then it should've worked too with axls band coz he was still carrying the name. They were also playing those songs. Why would those things have an impact now and not during the time of axls version of gnr? Slash is back that's why people are there. That's my perspective and I respect yours. Thanks for being nice and polite despite our different opinions. I guess let's just agree to disagree :)

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure that after Stevens sacking the remaining members agreed that if someone leaves they have to sell their share.

Sorry but..Even IF he asked equal split only for the NITLT tour that´s,IMO, still makes this Mondano´s point valid. After Izzy´s departure they kept working hard, very hard! They continued the Illusions tour, they make those clips that helped to perpetuate the Guns N´Roses name , launched VHS live from Tokyo, those Making Of videos..I mean I´m pretty sure that the big money from this current tour came from the hard work from that era (and another big money part came from the fact that Axl and Slash are playing together after more then 20 fkn years!). So I ask, why it should be equally splited? This is not only about the songs! To make money they need to work a lot! They traveled all around the world, they did many things besides the songs to make this band able to bring money to them.

No, the tour is making money because slash is back. If it's because of the other things you mentioned then it should have also made the axl circus act super successful. Slash is back and playing with axl again that's really it. And before uyi came out, before izzy left they were already established.

If there was anyone who kept the band alive post split admittedly it was only axl everyone went their own way. Duff and slash tried to make a name for their selves in different ways. Axl is the only one who tried to keep the band alive to the point of unintentionally tarnishing the band name. So this argument that 3 of them worked hard to keep the band alive all these years doesn't really jive with what happened coz only axl did, the other 2 were just collecting their checks while trying to grow their own brand.
