How many of you even read the article? He says they are comparable on terms of recognition, and the sense that when you go and see them live you know what you'll be getting, they are also similar in that despite declining album sales they can still fill stadiums without breaking a sweat. They have ceased to be relevant to current music, but are still a popular band with dare I say it, a nostalgia orientated fanbase.
Perfectly valid comparison.
Yes, but we like bashing them.
Oh, 5,000 posts. I'm such a whore. Well, i've been here over 4 years.
Yeah!?
I'm curious, does your username read "why am I sonic" ?
No, but it would be funny. I'd rather not say why my nickname is like that, it was a stupid childish thing (well, 4 years ago a lot of strange things went through my mind).

Stones great songs = 14 or 15
Oasis great songs = All the first 3 albums and b-sides + 70% of the last 4 albums.. = +100
Merry Christmas and Thank You very much!
But that's so wrong
Anyway, Radiohead > Oasis

It's a neat pop album, but what's worrying when it comes to its lasting value is that there's no GREAT songs here. Except for "Losing Touch" maybe.
I couldn't help putting thinking of New Order through a lot of this. It's not surprising maybe, all things considered. Except they're not as good as NO here.
Losing Touch, Human, Spacemand and A Dustland Fairytale are 4 of my favourite Killers songs.
And songs like Joy Ride and Neon Tiger rock too

LOL
These dudes had already gone too far, but they've gone way too far now

Sure,
killer fans like it
but when non-killer fans listen to it, it sounds crap... and gay.
and i usually like gay music.
*wake me up before you go go*
Well, at first I thought it was really gay, I still think it's the gayest thing they've ever done, but I still like it
But if you think that's crap, that's ok
-
Recently i watched Super Bad, Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Knocked up
Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Knocked up were good films with some real belly ache moments but Super Bad was just that.......... bad.
Was it super bad?
-
Probably the best gay album this year
But it 0wnz j00

I must be retarded cause I just don't get Kid A but think Pablo Honey is fucking solid
Same here.
I agree about the "not getting Kid A" part but Pablo Honey is crap except for Creep and Anyone Can Play Guitar.
I don't get why some people "don't get" Radiohead, or Kid A. It's not as if they're doing some sort of Chinese harmony or banging chairs to the floor and calling it "music". It's pretty straightforward (except from Treefingers, that is only a long ambient drone that is not really out of this world).
Kid A the song is pretty f'ed up...
Well, yeah, the vocals are too computarized. But you can get them if you have the lyrics sheet

Dressing up certain way definately makes one gay, and being gay makes a musician bad. If you don't agree with me you're a fag and not a true man.
I find Tokio Hotel's music boring.
But I like Queen

I always wondered what the meaning of "are we human or are we dancers" is? I think we already discussed this here, because I remember that some were thinking that it was "denser" instead of "dancers" and it would make no sense otherwise.
So yesterday I read an interesting article about Day & Age in a german newspaper and they say that "or are we dancers" is a reference to american writer Hunter S. Thompson who once said: "We're raising a generation of dancers." I found that pretty interesting...
Yeah. What I get of it is that they're saying we're all being controlled, and nothing is real.

The life experiences of a 17 year old from the 80's were probably similar to a 17 year old in the 90's.
But in the 80's there was DISCO! rock1

Now I've got my supercool pixeled Killers sig
-
A Dustland Fairytale is SO cool. I can't stop listening to the album. Even Joy Ride sounds incredibly cool now. Hell, even the intro to This Is Your Life.

Memo to some people on this board. An album that features classic rock/industrial/blues/metal is not considered "diverse". There are plenty of bands out there that have achieved this.
A band that incorporates rock with COMPLETELY DIFFERENT STYLES like latin/jazz/folk/dance etc..etc....... would be true "DIVERSITY".
Oh come on, latin and jazz aren't diverse, they are like the same thing
-
bach, beethovan
If we're going to get into classical composers, I'd rate both Mozart and Debussy above Bach and Beethoven.
Blasphemy. Beethoven > Debussy.
Yes, That should be a law or something.
I hate "best of" threads. There exists no "best", only "favourites", no matter what shit about influence or innovations you say.

Ida Maria - Fortress Round My Heart
Calvin Harris - I Created Disco
Daft Punk - Discovery
The Vines - Winning Days
The Strokes - Is This It & First Impressions of Earth
Libertines - Up the Bracket

I love Discovery, but have to turn it off everytime Crescendolls comes on. It sucks so bad.
Voyager owns though.

Friend of mine wants to get into The Killers, so she asked me to make her a 'best of' cd.
This is what I came up with...
1:19:43 run time.
Perfect? Not enough Hot Fuss?
Where the fuck is BONES?!
And For Reasons Unknown?

Favourite Worst Nightmare was great! 505 is one of the coolest songs I've ever heard
I forgot to add to my list, Red Hot Chili Peppers! Stadium Arcadium was great

Losing Touch has embedded itself in my skull. I find myself singing it all the time.
"console me in my darkest hour"
"you go run and tell your friends I'm losing touch"
"you got lost, but you made your way back home"
The guitar in the outro is beautiful.
Losing Touch owns you
Those first 3 songs must be the best sucession of any 3 songs I've heard on an album
-
Come on dude. I listen mostly to music from this decade.
Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys, Libertines, Franz Ferdinand, The Strokes, Guns N' Roses, Radiohead, The Killers, Andrés Calamaro... Many more I don't remember, those are my favourites
More: Beck, The White Stripes, Coldplay, Muse...
And many more
And that's basically all I listen to
-
This is the coolest thing eva!
Indeed
EDIT: Well, only stage-wise... Who's playing the keyboards? Playback

pfft. some of you have some big stick's up ur ass's. its JUST music , no such thing as special music and shity music , poeple buy nickelback albums because they can relate to them , because there fun to listen too , excuse those who want to live there life instead of jerking off to some 8 miniute albatross on a saturday.
some of u should get live's , seriously. get over ur selves , there is no such thing as elite listener's , you're all just consumer's of a product nothing more, you say its made for radio , well so was aerosmith (elevator , dude look's like a lady) cheap trick (the flame) , bruce springsteen (born in the u.s.a , dancing in the dark) and dont even get me started on KISS. At the end of the fucking day the single's are meant to be easy fun no brainer's to get u to buy the album and listen to the heavier song's on there , emotionaly and musically , for dark horse i thought some of the song's showcased more mature song writing and true guitar ability's like just to get high and if today was your last day.
go get laid , your hero's sure made that clear lyrically.
dude you suck
Killers - Day & Age

Don't you like Bones? I think it's the ultimate Killers song
And the bass on Joy Ride is awesome
Don't worry, it all grows on you. I promise.
