  1. Smells Like Nirvana by Weird Al

The part he goes "Here we are now, and we're screaming, and we don't know what we're singing"

    Man that killed me

And that song that is a parody of subliminal messages, that when played backwards says something like "Satan likes cheese wheez"

  2. Well? I know of some pretty stupid things that have happened to bands

From the top of my head, once I was playing with my band at some school events, there were about 400 people

And I forgot to plug my guitar properly, so the plug fell off.. I didn't know what the fuck had happened for about 30 seconds, because I was so nervous

I've got a video of it, it's pathetic

  3. It's not even about technique, or influence, or even passion. No one could play the guitar like Jimi Hendrix. Nothing will ever equal the kind of phrasing, the perfection of something like "All Along the Watchtower". Speed and proficiency and the like mean nothing, it's about the notes and the spaces between them.

He was the messiah of pre-war blues. He brought the country blues styles up to Rock N' Roll speed, and then added some of his own, very unique magic. I don't consider Jimi Hendrix to be a rock artist. He dabbled in pop quite a bit, but songs like "Purple Haze", "Manic Depression", and so many others are simply his own blues.

    YEAH case closed.

  4. As a guitarist, I just can't believe someone could play like Jimi Hendrix did. His way of accompanying the songs was incredible, and his solos were incredible. It's just unbelievable. Hendrix is so good I can't explain it.

When I hear Voodoo Lounge, I get really excited. And the solos of All Along The Watchtower are spectacular.

  5. Best - everything up to (and including) Some Girls

    Worst: everything after Some Girls

You don't like Voodoo Lounge? It's quite good

Apart from it, everything after Some Girls really was quite bad.. Though I didn't really like Some Girls anyway

Their last album was pretty bad, but Rough Justice is one of their best songs ever IMO

  6. I like "Out of our Heads" and "Exile on Main Street" a lot. I also liked Let It Bleed. I didn't like Her Satanic Majesties, and I think that Dirty Work (and most of their other 80's records, with the exception of Tatoo You maybe) is one of the worst records ever.

  7. I really, really love this solo. The rest of the song I don't really like, but the solo is awesome. Especially when he begins with that little phrase after the shredding.

  8. These topics always get out of context .. It always ends up in a rap against rock debate. The question was, What is rock n' roll to you?

Well, I can't say I don't mind these debates, since I've had three of them per weak since I first joined the forum. But it's nice to have discussions, that's what we're here for, anyway.

Well, to put my two cents in, rap and rock have got pretty much the same amount of fans. Sure, rap, and all of its little cousins, is the most fashionable at the moment; at parties you're more likely to listen to daddy yankee or whoever rather than led zeppelin or AC/DC. I think it's half half: One week, Roger Waters played at my town, and it got full. Two weeks later, Wisin y Yandel (reggaeton) played, and it got full as well. I don't know of anybody who went to both, though.

Finally, it is a difference in style, a difference in who you want to be. If you're a party man, you'll most likely be a rap man. If you are a musician, you will most likely like rock, obviously.

Judging people because of the music they listen to is really, really stupid.
