This is ridiculous. Are you lot going to shit your trews whenever somebody criticises your god Rose? The LA Guns chap is entitled to his opinion. The Illusions are spottier than a block of swiss cheese haha.

Must be a miserable feeling being a fan of one-album-wonder.

I've always seen the devotion that we as fans give very similar to that of following your favourite sports team. We invest our time coming here daily, voicing our opinions and concerns on whatever the band may or may not be doing. Whenever Guns are playing, we've got threads on the show, where people all over the world give their thoughts on how the performance is going, whether it be good or bad, but at the end of the day, we all want to see the band firing on all cylinders and showing that they're the best at what they do. If someone comes along and slates your team or whatever you spend your time/money on, I'd say it would be a natural response to put them in their place.

Or I could have had too much to drink and talking nonsense, which is possibly more likely

    You shouldn't stop drinking, Sir.

  2. Yet another reason why I hate that pussy and poser Cobain. I've read a lot of old magazines from that time and right after the Illusions were released, they were considered masterpieces. But since sterile and songless Nevermind and Metallica's Shit Album became massive hits, Illusions received a lot of hate. And when he blew his head off, his lunatic words went from bullshit to gospel. Of course soap-opera-like videos have caused a huge damage too. <_<

My only minor complaint is that Axl's vocals are a little too loud and Duff's and Izzy' tracks are too quiet. And fuck, Axl, why have you chosen Back Off Bitch instead of Crash Diet and Get in the Ring instead of Bring It Back Home. Why, Jesus, why?!

What's also funny is how people ignore their boldness. From hard rock/punk/metal to art rock? No other band ever made such a huge step. They had balls and they succeeded. But the examples of Illusions, FNM's King for a Day and STP's Tiny Music show that real art is often rejected. Kickass music is fun, art sucks.

If Guns put out those two albums in the 70s as opposed to the 90s, they would be hailed as classics. I firmly believe that. It's the critics that changed, they decided that rock music couldn't be "artistic" anymore. It was the age of Nirvana and grunge, they understood the youth of America, while Guns was an aging dinosaur. Even if Guns had released UYI as one disc, made up of classic songs that could rival (or even exceed Appetite), critics would have bashed it.

I have not heard a rock album by ANYONE (except for CD, but that's a different discussion, lol) that is as experimental and evolving to the ears as UYI, since UYI. Songs like Coma, Estranged, Locomotive, etc are not made anymore. They pushed rock music forward into new and interesting directions, just like Zeppelin did in the 70s. Metallica didn't do that, Nirvana didn't do that, etc.

Those albums get unwarranted hate imo. Probably by those that only listen to Civil War, YCBM, NR, and DC and call the other songs "filler". How is Locomotive or Breakdown filler???

    Amen to this, man.

Illusions are way too sophisticated for an average Joe. Those albums are so amazingly rich, you have everything there: hard rock, rock n' roll, blues rock, psychedelic rock, art rock, metal, funk...
It always pisses me off when I hear about 'fillers'. The best part is, different people consider different numbers as fillers. Just shows how capricious they are, if not to say shallow.

Personally, I just don't like Back Off Bitch and GITR. I hate the sound of guitars in those numbers, they're so sterile, like it's not Slash.

Funny how no-one calls Think About You or Anything Goes fillers, but it's so fashionable to throw shit at Illusions...
I love all those brilliant numbers, Axl's, Slash's, Izzy's... So Fine is a real gem, and, damn, Duff's bass lines are even better than on Appetite. And yeah, Illusions are better than Appetite. There are 27 great numbers (except BOB, GITR and My World).
Sadly, one of the reasons people treat Illusions not seriously were Axl's 'ambitious' videos. But that also shows how people 'listen' to music...
