  1. You have to appreciate they were playing to an audience of Robbie Williams fans so the setlist had to be like that.

What you have to appreciate is that many of the audience had specifically gone to Live8 just to see Pink Floyd.

    it was intense.

No. Old Pink Floyd were intense. Performing at 3 in the morning in the pitch black, and playing Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun so loudly that you kill fish in a nearby lake is intense. Playing carbon copies of some of Floyd's 'safest' material is banal.

its unimportant how much a band moves around on stage sometime.

This is partly true. Floyd themselves were hardly renowned for gymnastics displays live. But, Floyd simply stood glued to the spot, devoid of any emotion, or any feeling.

You have made fun of gnr fans for saying they were a goos band because they move around on stage alot.

Let's set things straight. I make fun of Axl's live performances because, if he turns up at all, he runs around like a headless twat.

  2. They showed not even a soupcon of emotion. They stood there, motionless, and played 4 of the most mundane, predictable, overplayed tracks in their back catalogue; Breathe, Money, Wish You Were Here and Comfortably Numb.

The song performances could've been culled straight from P.U.L.S.E. - Roger's presence mattered not a single iota.

To sum up, it was boring, overhyped and unimpressive.

  3. That was shit. The only remotely good/interesting parts were when Roger dedicated WYWH to Syd, and their linking arms goodbye at the end. Apart from that, it was uniform wank.

  4. And, in my opinion, you're an illeducated, pretentious dickhead, whose favourite band are the laughing stock of the music industry, and haven't done anything worth a shred of Percy The Paedophile wallpaper in nearly 20 years.

    Tit.

  5. Yeah, but only an asshole would show his opinion like that.

Only a weak, insecure fool would shield his opinion.

Hah, what the hell do you expect out of a GN'R forum?

I'd expect at least a modicum of intelligence.

Besides, I haven't seen many people like you described.

gotta question thow. in what way is led better then G&R? this is an honest question, not meant to put down leds fans. id actually like to know.

imo G&R plays ever insturment better and has a way better lead singer, and better lyrics.

Oh, and just check out some of the shite people like Sprite, DThockey2, Sealab89 and Tunakabob73 post.

  6. No, I'm just sick of the entirely blind GN'R fanbois on this forum, who are under the impression that GN'R were the single greatest, most talented entity ever, who changed music forever, and who are still relevant.

  7. imo Gand has a way better lead singer, &R plays ever insturment better and has a way better lead singer

    :D

Page is 100 times better than Izzy or Slash. Bonham may well be the greatest drummer ever. JPJ is a superb bassist - McKagan's bass playing is barely noticeable. Oh, and as for vocals? Axl sounds like a helium powered hyena, whose privates have just been stamped on in a fit of pique. When Axl sings, I want to laugh and/or cry. Plant actually has tone and range, two vocal qualities Axl is entirely bereft of.

    and better lyrics.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

The sycophants on this board really are full of shit, aren't they.

Better lyrics? Page & Plant were hardly Keats or Betjeman, but they had the occasional flurry of inspiration. Guns N' Roses lyrics and Led Zeppelin lyrics do not bear comparison.

Do not be fooled by my avatar - I'm no longer a Zeppelin fan, and I find pretty much everything they've released monotonous and boring.

  8. teh GNR 1 wer Axl did all da waggling and da runnin and maw runnin and everyfing! Slash rox!

Uh, Genesis' Lamb Lies Down On Broadway tour. I've seen various photos, and the stuff looks awe inspiring.

  9. Both capture Pink Floyd during their stadium tours. Neither are particularly good, but I'd wager that PULSE is superior, if only for the DSOTM cover (which, while not particularly awe inspiring, is at least interesting).

UmmaGumma offers the best Floyd live experience.
