    I dunno, @downliner - I always thought the point of doing a cover was to give it your own imprint, make it sound a little different.

    When I first saw the video, I thought the guy on the mic was just lip-syncing, it sounded too exact to the original, and we don’t really get to see the guy’s mouth and throat moving. Plus they’re not native English speakers, so how does he get the words so right?

    Anyway don’t mind me, I’m just grumpy because I can’t see Izzy’s earlier favourite videos. At least this third one is viewable in the UK. 

    Let’s have another, Izzy.

    I hope nobody’s talked Izzy out of doing those tweets. Because what he planned to do would be seen as endorsing the videos, and that’s what the whole influencer marketing business world is built upon, isn’t it? Someone might have said to him “these artists need to pay you if you’re going to promote them like this”. For example I went and bought “Love Hurts” just because of Izzy’s tweet. Oprah’s book club works the same way I think, that’s why people are always lining up to get on her list - I’m not sure they pay to get on the list, but they probably do. Good luck manoeuvring in the business world, Izzy. Hope you get to do what you wanna do xxx

    Just to go back to the Instagram/Twitter thing for a moment - if I remember correctly from reading this thread, Steven Adler took over a fan’s Instagram account, didn’t he?

    Considering how many people follow “fake Izzy”, I’m thinking now that Real Izzy taking over the Fake Izzy account on Instagram might be a more strategic move than shutting it down completely, even if it might be impossible to do so without Fake Izzy’s cooperation. But it would be a shame for him to lose that ready-waiting audience.

    And I just realised that the fake Insta account has 5.4k more followers than the real Izzy Stradlin Twitter account! That’s the kind of thing that could really make Izzy angry.

    @Tori72 and @annabanana, there’s a fake account on Instagram using the handle @IzzyStradlin999 :max::max: that has 42.5k followers, that Izzy was trying very hard to shut down for ages - but it’s still going. 

    I was suggesting to check there for past tweet screengrabs because they posted quite a few of Izzy’s deleted tweets. Although I just looked, and their last post was the Chuck Berry retweet on 20 Mar.

    You know sometimes I think it was that fake Instagram account that turned Izzy off of social media. I mean, when you think about how readily he used to engage with @downliner for the Chopaway site back in the 1990s, writing notes to his “fan club”, saying things like “this is for the fans” - once upon a time he showed that he understood what it was like to be a fan.

    All this newfangled social media, where every little mistake is something that tens of thousands of people can see in a moment (he has something like 36k followers on Twitter?) and then some people would make fun of for eternity, he would feel like there’s nowhere to hide. I can just imagine. At least he doesn’t need to do LinkedIn - geez, you can’t even sniff on there without everyone knowing. 

    *Edit: Izzy has 37.1k followers on Twitter, and the fake Izzy Insta account has 42.5k followers, so you can see why he’s livid!!

    Well it’s taken me a few weeks to read through all 334 pages of this thread (so many links to read through, so many delightful videos to watch/scour for Izzy), so thank you once again to everyone who has shared information, replied to posts, and even speculated if only to keep the thread alive and growing. There are a few things I’d like to mention if I may:
     
    1. For anyone here who is on Facebook - if you like, do check out the Izzy groups over there (possible sources for new pics..?), and join up to boost the numbers:
     
    “Izzy Stradlin fans (private group)”
     
    “Sweet Izzy Stradlin”
     
     
    2. Just wondering what became of Treader. By the time there was that picture of Izzy on the beach with the wetsuit and boogie board, he had a German shepherd (Milo?) by his side, so maybe Treader was gone by then. Sad to think of Izzy sad. He probably wrote a song for him too ("How will it go"??). 
     
     
    3. Izzy has admitted that he loves creating music during winter time at the end of the year. So fingers crossed the dark evenings will once again in 2017 lead him productively to his guitar to finish whatever he started working on already this year. 
     
     
    4. Izzy knows exactly how we're feeling right now - look he even wrote a song about it: “Waiting” (from Miami, starts at 26:44)
     
     
    Keep holding on, folks. He's coming.
     
     
    5. Thanks to this thread, my curiosity has been piqued to go have a look round the Women’s Thread, wish me luck over there. But first though I’ll have to finish reading through the articles on @Zoot's excellent website. Here's the link again - for any other new members:
     
     
    I came across the website months ago after seeing a link to it on Twitter, and was thrilled to later realise it all started right here in the No! Gang.
     
     
    6. Does anyone know the story of that yellow string on Izzy's big white guitar? I know it's trivia but I wonder about it every time I see it.
     
     
    PS. This thread is genius if only for the gifs! I'm going to try and figure out how to make some myself...

    :lol: Heh, I've got to page 137, and I'm loving the thread ever more and more!!! So many topics I would have loved to have commented on if I was on the forum back then, but all I can do is drop a few likes here and there. You all did such a good job of keeping this thread going, makes me proud to be an Izzy fan

    Yeah at about page 50 folks were trying to figure out if it was Izzy the man himself lurking as 00000000 (wait!!! don’t tell me!!) Looks like a lot happened in here during the last six months or so. I might have to do a couple of all-nighters to catch up. Thanks for the warm welcome :heart:

    Good day everyone, I didn't just want to be a lurker, so I'm taking a minute to say hello. I joined this GN'R forum a few weeks ago and have been enjoying reading through every post of this extremely engaging and entertaining thread. I've only got to about page 50 so far but intend to read all the way through to page 329 (or whatever it will be when I get to the end). Thanks for keeping this thread so well stocked and updated with Izzy info, links, videos and photos. Long live the Wacky World of The Ominous Izzy Stradlin and NO! Gang! :headbang:
