I did get to see MJ, but only once.
What concert and tour did you manage to see him at out of curiosity? I've probably watched almost every concert of his available online haha
Weirdly enough I always thought the History tour was the one I'd want to see if I had a choice, even with the lip syncing. He didn't have the same energy he had during Bad tour or Dangerous but the production, band, choreography(along with his own dance moves improving) and set list were next level. Shame he only played Heartbreak Hotel during the Bad tour though, adored that songs live performances.

You think Axl doesn't sign off on everything that gets a GNR logo?
I'm not sure tbh, part of me thinks he doesn't care enough to sign off on what they do, but maybe he does. That's beside the point of what I'm saying though, he doesn't need GNR merch to make money. His own image in a Budweiser ad is probably worth a lot more money to him personally then a GNR logo on ridiculous merch is to him. If he only cared about money, we'd see him using his own image to make himself money more then he does. Cause the Budweiser ad is the only one I can think of.
And in terms of the GNR logo, I'm actually unsure how that works. I knwo Axl owned the GNR brand, but does he still and does all the money from GNR merch, products, etc go to him or is it split now with Duff and Slash?

Well, he had though. Seeing as he's happy to sign off on slapping GNRs logo on tons of ridiculous merch.
When I say he hasn't, I'm more so talking about Axl and his own image specifically, as opposed to TB and the GNR brand. I think we can both agree that Axl would make far far more money by using his own image in commercials for products like Budweiser that appeal to the masses, then he would through TB putting a GNR logo on a toy truck and a laundry bag that less then a thousand people would buy.

I so overjoyed that this gif exists. I love that it's the ultimate reply to the tired "Axl doesn't do things for money" arguemt.
I don't know, I kind of disagree with the masses in this regard. It seems a bit counter intuitive to say that management and Axl are idiots for throwing away money by turning away exposure from bootlegs and not setting up a system where we can buy all old/new concerts, while also saying that everything this band does is for money. I think the band deserves criticism, plenty of it, but these criticisms clearly contradict themselves. If it was all about money for them then we would've seen the reunion a lot sooner, and we'd probably also see a lot of old concerts released that they could make plenty of money from. We haven't seen that.
And claiming that it's all about money cause he's done a commercial seems a bit knitpicky to me. One commercial this century(that I'm aware of, correct me if I'm wrong) doesn't scream "Axl doing things for money". He could paste his name and image to plenty of products and made plenty of money. But he hasn't done that either.

I think the best option would be invitations by the mods, or by well respected community members, to people who are outside the section. Start the private section off by the mods inviting all the normal forum members who know each other and interact everyday, cause you can guarantee there's no one looking to remove things in that group. Most of yous know each other well enough to know who is and isn't looking to cause damage. So start off with all those people in the group
Then the mods(or some other high up members who could be given the power to invite) can start inviting other not so well known members who contribute positively to the forum. If someone is being kind, showing they are a genuine fan, and contributing to a positive forum environment they should get access to the private section. I guess they could private message, but that could be lead to spam, so it would be on the mods and higher ups to be vigilant and aware of new members who are contributing, and inviting them when they feel the member is suitable.
In terms of critiques of the post count and the account age ideas, I have a few. Now I lurk but hardly post, and I'll probably continue to not post even if the above idea is implemented, so nothing I am saying is to benefit myself but more the community.
Having 3000+ posts will lead to spam as others have said, and not everyone has the time or interest to have 3000+ posts on a forum. And just because someone has 3000+ posts doesn't mean they are anymore valuable or contributing to the community in a more positive way then a guy with 500 posts.
In terms of account age(i.e. people with an account since 2005 being allowed access), I think that's an even worse idea. Lord knows who has an account since 2005, and also just because someone wasn't a fan in 2005, doesn't mean they aren't a fan now. I only started listening to GNR a few months after the reunion, had 0 interest in them before. There was no situation where I was going to sign up to he forum before the past couple years, but I listen to GNR everyday now, so I''m no less a fan because I gained interest in them later then other people. This idea would close a lot off newer fans, and probably stunt forum growth as new posters/fans are immediately excluded and have no way of being included.

It doesn't matter. If they, on the March shows, play the same setlist that they've been playing this last month, then it's still NITL. It doens't matter if the shirts they are selling say "Southamerican tour" instead of "Not In This Lifetime tour".
Unless they debut new material and/or they completely rework the setlist, then it's still going to be considered NITL tour. That’s what I mean yeah. They’re not calling it the NITL cause as opposed to NITL playing greatest hits so to speak, they’ll be focusing on new material from the album in the March shows, considering Fernando allegedly said the new album will be out in March

They also said Hawaii was the last show. Now last night was the last show. Hard to take them at their word
In this case though they already have shows announced in March, which wasn't the case with the Hawaii show. Seems a bit silly to tell everyone the tour is over if they already have shows announced in March, unless it really is the end of the NITL tour and they consider the future shows separate.
Might be a bit ambitious, but if the Fernando reddit account is to be believed, we can expect a new album in March, which I think would correspond with the next show. Maybe they're saying it's the end of the NITL because the next shows are about promoting the new album as opposed to the reunion. Or one can hope.

Looked up the lyrics to this today and was surprised by how many lyrics I had no idea about. Listened to this song a countless amount of times and only figured out today that he sings "Loves so strange" at the end. Was always convinced he sang "I'm so strange"

Gonna go against the grain here, think the song is amazing and I love all Axl’s parts, but I don’t really think the solo fits the song. It seem like a kind of upbeat, happy solo, when the song seems the opposite to me. I think a darker solo, kind of like a lot of the solos in Slash’s Snakepit, would have been much better. Would loved to hear what Slash could have done with it.

on topic; November Rain was the first video of the whole rock genre to cross a billion clicks on YouTube, correct? So would that make SCOM the second? If so, that’s pretty cool that the top two most viewed music videos of the rock genre on YouTube are both GnR songs.
Imagine Dragons have a few songs over a billion views (if you'd consider that the rock genre), and someone else mentioned numb having over a billion views
But November Rain was the first video pre-2000's to reach a billion views, with it looking like Bohemian Rhapsody will be second, and than SCOM third. Kind of crazy though, cause I remember when November Rain hit a billion a few months ago Smells Like Teen Spirit had almost 100mil more views than SCOM, don't know how it managed to overtake

1) Would've could've should've, but Neither Can I with Axl's prime vocals would've been GNR's best song
2) Any cuts away from Axl on live recordings takes away from the video quality. Especially on vocals, but also during solos. Doesn't count so much now, but when he was more energetic in his prime I feel like I'm missing out on something every time he gets cut. Its So Easy in Philadelphia 1988 shows this perfectly.
3) Melissa Reese is an amazing musician and I hope she has more than just a background role in the new album. She's an amazing vocalist, and her vocals in Bloodborne(video game) are stunning. She features in the first few songs on the soundtrack if any one would be curious to listen, I couldn't recommend it more. Her work with Brain and the Infamous games is also great. Not so much a fan of her solo pop work though.

What's your unpopular GN'R opinion?

Unpopular opinions about Axl, money and the GNR brand. Sorry for the long post, at work so willing to take any distraction.
In regards to the GNR brand and TB running of it, I kind of get confused. I don't think it's as clear cut as some people on here say it is, and I think we'd actually be happier as fans if the goal was money. It's clear that it's being run as a corporation, and I think that whole GNR Santa ad was pathetic. There obviously trying to make money off these, but I'd love to know how much they actually make, very little, relatively speaking. If they only cared about money, there's much better ways to go about making it(maybe they are actually so bad as managers that they can't do that). Some potential ways:
I guess I'm just confused about TB being only about money, while most people seem to take it as fact. Based on their commercialization of GNR, they seem to be. But there's so many better ways for them to make money(while also keeping fans happier) that they could pursue but haven't done(and probably never will). If it was only about money I think we'd see a lot more content.
