  1. I was reading Chinese Whispers I couldn't help but notice how many times Axl's press releases are mentioned there.

"Now whether or not Paul was going to be officially on the album or on the tour that really wasn't an actual consideration at the time. It was in the air as a possibility." (Axl, press release, 08/14/02)"

""On break from Guns N' Roses until September, [...] Stinson is currently putting the finishing touches on 16 new songs for an upcoming solo record. Primarily recorded over two months in a studio owned by friend Charles Thompson (aka Frank Black), [...] the untitled album is currently being shopped to labels." (Press release, 06/27/03)"

""During his tenure with the band Buckethead has been... creating uncertainty and confusion and making it virtually impossible to move forward with recording, rehearsals and live plans with confidence." (Axl, press release, 03/30/04)"

There are other examples, such as this :
"....Rose responded with the following press release.  "Recent media reports that Slash is claiming that he has always been supportive of Axl Rose and the new Guns N’ Roses. Slash’s actions in recent years have in fact been anything but supportive. Besides the lawsuits filed against me, claiming, among other things, that I do not own the copyright to the songs that I co-authored with my former Guns N’ Roses band mates, Slash has continually made negative and malicious statements about me in order to garner publicity for himself [...]"

Is there anywhere we can read these press releases in full?

    Thanks in advance.

Interesting, as for me Richard had the least charisma. I rarely looked at him the three times I saw NuGnr. Bucket, Bumble, Robin and of course Axl, but Richard...? He blended into the background.

He always looked familiar, "Izzy Stradlin Look-a-like".

There is a history that the band was on the airport in 2002, and then a fan came screaming to Richard and said "Hey Izzy, give me an autograph".

  3. according to GNRontour, There was a moment in the 2002 Tour where axl stopped a song, said something to the crowd, and then the band just went back exactly where they were.

If that's not chemistry, at least musical, I don't know what it is.

But that's actually the whole point : MUSICALLY, New Guns was never a bad band, the only thing missing there was charisma...a charisma that only Richard had, trough the years.

With no end in sight of the pandemic, indeed in the UK schools open next week and then winter which could mean no concerts next year and no music  where do they go now, is it the end for Guns n Roses.

It would help if they were to make themselves more visible but they dont seem to want to do this.

I'd say that the virus its on a bad shape compared to what it was on January, since we walked years within 7 months.

I'm not anxious for a vacine as much as I am for a medicine.
As for GN'R, I don't believe they are going to end in the next 2 years, but i'm pretty much sure that they're reaching the end of the(ir) road, and won't be lasting for 10 more years.

  5. Stay away from modern metal and their sweep picks, fast-as-ass tempos and all that stuff.
Try learning easy n' rockin songs first, like Pentagram, Saint Vitus, or even Black Sabbath.
If you are more interested in GN'R Songs, start with izzy's guitar first.

And remember : Rhytm is more important than notes, and the places you are not playing matter more than those you are playing.

The 5.1 mix of AFD has an Izzy channel. Shouldn't be too hard to track down!

I've got a version of RNDTH and Perfect Crime with him way up in the mix and Slash turned down, which is cool. I tried to send you a link but it said you couldn't receive messages! Don't think I can post it here.

    Ready!

  7. I Wish we could listen to izzy's parts alone, or more predominant in the mix.
I mean : I believe that there are a few fans that have never listened to his "Boogie-Oogie" parts on WTJ and My Michelle.
It's hard to tell much of his tone ang gear, mostly because during the illusions tour his amp was turned off for the most part of the shows...
I believe he recorded AFD with a White Semi-Acoustic guitar (can't remember the name) but on the shows, he used a Gibson LP Custom with 3 humbuckers (I sincerely think that it's a 'kalamazoo-made' one)
There's a more detailed description of his playing / tone in this topic :

BTW : Which String Gauge does he uses? 0.11, like Slash?

  8. What i'm about to say might be misunderstood by many, but AT LEAST covid 19 held Guns N' Roses shows for a while, thus making a possibility for them to focus on their new material, and maybe, trying to be a normal band for once - you know the deal, trying to be a band that actually RELEASE SONGS.
If the news are to be believed, and there are at least 5 vacines on the corner, I can imagine them touring by the end of 2021, hopefully with NEW SONGS...they need to understand that the 2016 hype is - almost- over.

But I can't see Coins N' Roses lasting for more ten years.
Sorry, but they're making this "Feels Like a Lifetime Tour" so they can have FAT bank accounts when they retire.
We'll have maybe a new album, being it double or not, the UYI Box Set, and few other 'vault' songs when Axl dies, and that's it.

Umm, and forgive my own ignorance here, but aren't the current UYI albums the Bill Price mixes?  Pretty sure he mixed both of them and those mixes are what we hear when we listen to the records.  Not trying to be a dick, just seeking clarification I guess.  I didn't know if there were alternate mixes Bill Price had done or something like that.

Thank you for this!  I thought there was, but couldn't remember/find it.

I know Duff was involved with the Appetite box.  I suppose Axl was to a degree too since he provided the pics in the book, the pics of the band and band members.

Thank you for pointing me to this thread, very valuable!

Thanks for your feedback everybody!  I apologize, but I ran out of likes.  Please keep it coming.

Well, I used the zombux list as a reference.
And according to that, "Bill Price Mixes 3/91" DAT" is known to exist, but does not circulate.

  10. It's amazing! this band can dig a hole all the way trough from USA to China but they can't release a new song!

    anyway :
    Praga 1992 Pro Shot
São Paulo 1992 Pro Shot (This yet unseen for most of us, there are only snippets out there)
I Don't Care About You (Music Video - Yeah, it leaked already, but so what?!)
    Ain't Going Down (Single)
Munich 1993 (Where they did a few shots for Estranged)
    Coma Demo
    Bill Price Mixes
Alternative Artwork for the UYI (Trocolli had one in his site, i believe. The other one had lyrics, who played in which track, etc)
Down on the street / Beer And Cigarrette Covers

Where does he say it (min. mark?) I've actually transcribed this interview and didn't hear him say anything like this:

    https://www.a-4-d.com/t4085-1995-01-dd-much-music-interview-with-slash-and-eric-dover

1:55 minutes on : Right before he mentions his singer (2:17) he talks about Axl, which is surprisingly, **not in your transcription**, He mentions that he gave "Axl was going to play it, but an.... the song called beggars and hangers on" to "him" - "Axl was going to play it , but an...the song called beggars and hangers on, we gave him the material, the music, and he wrote beggars and hangers on, and it was like cool, that's deal"

Have you read the excerpt from Matt's book?

I know it's not new and I already knew GnR did it, but Matt's particular "system" and the way he brags about it are disgusting - and kind of hilarious at the same time, only because Matt comes across as a big douche.

Slash never said anything along these lines, as far as I know. He said that Beggars... was Eric Dover's tryout song and he wrote the lyrics, and that Slash and Dover co-wrote most of the lyrics on Snakepit. Later Slash would say that a lot of the Snakepit lyrics were his and Dover was used as a "filter".
