  1. I haven't finished, yet I have mixed feelings for this book.

It clearly gave us a new perspective on the 91-94 Guns N' Roses Era, more infos to fill up the blanks, details that never got to see the light of day, and one thing that's fuckin' amazing is that, at least for once, someone in the old band just hits the fan with tons of shit, instead of being "wishy-washy" when speaking about that era.
Slash, In 94 or 95 I believe, got interviewed and said that Axl co-wrote "Beggars and Hangers on" with him, and they're were cool, AND WE KNOW THAT THEY'RE WERE NEVER COOL.
Matt just goes and says : "Slash and Duff can't handle problems" / "Axl is a spoiled child".
BUM. Straight in the face. No fancy words, just plain truth (Very Norwegian I must say, as he mentions at least 3 times in 2 fuckin' paragraphs that he has norwegian ancestors.)

    Anyway,

If this book is to be believed, and axl is really this kinda of a pain in the ass, and If Slash and Duff are this passive, and slash is this 'money snake' who goes around naming bands with his own name without asking the others,
Then i'm no longer interested in their personalities, and maybe, only in their music.

I'm yet to finish, and i'm yet to decide if i'm going to continue reading.

There's a fuckload of instrumentals, but in terms of 'complete' songs (i e. Full lyrics and vocals) the ones we have are:

Hardschool (formerly known as 'Jackie Chan')

    Perhaps

    State of Grace

    Silkworms

    Atlas Shrugged

    Going Down

    Knockin on Heaven's Door (acoustic)

Eye on You (though lyrics aren't exactly 'full')

Then there is also Oh My God from 1999, plus the This I Love remix (with new vocals)

OMG 1999? You meant the Bumble leak?

Great topic and I think everyone has pretty much covered it all.

Izzy's scratchy, tubey, earthy tone also was such a beautiful complimentary sonic tone to Slash's more traditional Marshall sound.

I always come back to Rocket Queen and One in a million of great examples of the Izzy sound - but LLAS in general is also a great reference point and I agree that for several AFD songs it was Slash and not Izzy adapting more.  But it was swings and roundabouts and they were perfect for each other.

He was Miles Davis - knowing and understanding inherently that the spaces you're not playing are  more important than the spaces you are

"that the spaces you're not playing are  more important than the spaces you are"
    Gotta note that somewhere.

  4. The first time his guitar skills came to my attention was when i was learning It's So Easy, and he'd play the heavy part of it with power chords, and then in the end, he'd play a bluesy kinda shuffle with E Power chord. That was fantastic, i'd never tought about something like that actually.

Well, a couple of days after the official announcement of the reunion and Coachella, which mentioned only Axl, Slash and Duff

    http://www.a-4-d.com/t3273-2016-01-05-press-release-guns-n-roses-make-history-with-2016-return

Pitman made a happy post in his social media:

    https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/general_music_news/additional_members_confirmed_for_gnr_reunion.html

And then he said he was told by management to take it back:

    https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/general_music_news/gnr_members_ordered_by_management_to_deny_reunion.html

Then, about six weeks later, he posted calling the reunion tour a cash grab and then deleted it

    That was it.

Not much is known about what happened behind the scenes. There was only an unverified rumour that he clashed with Duff (or both Slash and Duff).

Later in 2016 he sued Axl for unpaid fees from 2011 (the lawsuit was settled a while later).

    -----------

It seems that Pitman didn't realise, like everyone else did, that things had changed after Slash and Duff were back, so he couldn't come to terms with the fact that he wasn't equal to them and that they actually were his bosses, too. Because other than that, judging from his first posts, he didn't seem to have any problems with the "nostalgia tour".

    Feel sad for him.

What a stab in the back.
