not an expert, haven't been around long enough, but whenever i hear about CD and Axl being a perfectionist, i just don't think it's true. i hear music in my head sometimes, and i imagine art sometimes. my inability to translate that into real world material is extremely frustrating, maddeningly so. i always figured Axl was similar. not trying to make perfect music, but just trying to get the sound he hears out into the world exactly as he hears it. which is difficult, cause the sound changes, the human brain is inconsistent. it's like chasing a heat mirage, it's always far away. the ability to stop and accept what you've made despite its imperfections is a learned skill.
AFD and UYI were combined efforts. CD? it was just Axl. he had people play on it, yes, but i'm pretty certain it was just his vision. not a great artist contributing to a collaborative work, but a great artist trying to translate from mind to matter. that's always been the difference from my pov.

i'm far from an expert like all the peeps on here, but i always figured it would just alternate Guns Tour - SMKC album - SMKC Tour, repeat till someone dies. occasional GNR single chucked in to keep the money flowing.
if i could get paid what they do to play GNR songs all the time, i would. for Slash, i imagine it's like having creative interests outside of work to fulfil you.

if you had balls, you wouldn't be so whiny about a musician playing on a single song in a comedy film. i've seen thin ice less fragile than your masculinity

I'm sad that i joined this community in 2017. It was cool seeing them then, and I love the band so much, but I'm aware of how much I missed by joining in this time period. They're gonna go on year 8 of touring. I want to be a part of just one album release.
Also, no Houston 2016 live release. I love that show, I want the whole thing proshot.

i caught the entire show on my phone, but for some damn reason, it started picking up my singing about 5 songs in and it stays that way the whole rest of the show. not sure i wanna upload that

YCBM had some rasp at the end of the bridge. KOHD had some serious rasp at parts. Coma had a pretty strong finish.
I disagree about Better; he was all chest voice for the first chorus, and he managed to hit the notes in the bridge, so i'm happy.
fantastic show, i'm ecstatic about that. Axl seemed very happy on stage, much more so than 2017.

i'm fucking thrilled for this. when i first saw them in 2017, i had no clue what majority of the setlist was. i enter this concert a wiser person!

he's clearly busting his ass on this, worried he's gonna damage something though

he skipped a line...

they didn't show Richard during his solo on CD 😭
this version of CD sounds fucking banging though, not sure Axl or Melissa missed a note.

Axl sounded good using his lower voice. Absolutely keep it, it sounds strong and most of all healthy. Healthy is better than forced damage. It's not 1992 anymore, and it doesn't have to be.

What does the end look like for GnR? A farewell tour? A death? Someone else stepping in?
-
Maybe Axl is feeling his 2010 self, so we'll get SOD, TWAT, Perfect Crime, Back in Black, and Thunderstruck all in a row with full rasp and a Buckethead guest appearance

I'm pretty new to the whole thing (~2017), so there's plenty of shit I don't know. I get a kick out of seeing someone mention some obscure show/CD drama that I missed and seeking it out As for live, I've only seen them once. I'll go see them as long as they're still alive!

It's funny because it starts very dry, but at the end when he switches to the neck pickup it has a hall reverb almost surf music levels. But I think Slash wasn't in his good night, that was very rough.
And Slash is on the left channel for some reason. So yeah, they dont even know how to export the correct audio stereo pan.
I just really miss that fat live tone he had in the 90's, all it would take is a pedal and a quick knob adjustment on his jubilees.

"Nightrain exclusive" = unlisted youtube video.
Here's Double Talkin' Jive from Baltimore for those who haven't seen it:
Slash's tone is so damn dry. He needs the UYI tone to be doing those runs he's doing, otherwise it just abruptly cuts out cause the gain doesn't carry anything across note to note.
