  1. Well first things first. The background to this era was gutting. When Izzy quit I was gutted and didn't think anyone could be a worthy replacement. Then I got the Illusion Tokyo videos for Xmas. Seeing Gilby play the lead guitar intros to Don't Cry and Patience plus trading lead guitar licks with Slash during Wild Horses won me over. A couple of years later I got Pawnshop Guitars and became an even bigger Gilby fan.

Then it all went to shit. One by one Gilby, Slash, Duff n Matt either left or were forced out of the band. Most of the Nu GN'R members who came and went were talented enough. It's ridiculous that surrounded by all that talent all that got released was one album.

Mind you I hoped that when Slash and Duff returned to the band that with them being more Axl's equals we might get an album sooner. Sadly nothing's changed.

so release the new album november 2024, get the xmas sales and start the world tour in early 2025, we should have a new single in july and september. that's how obvious and easy it is. Can't wait....

And if this was a normal band, Axl was a normal guy and they had a competent management team that would probably happen. But we all know that's not the case.

what's his relationship with Axl these days?

Well Izzy had that dig at Axl, Slash n Duff not wanting to split the loot. Despite Izzy selling his share in the partnership for a big payout. And the fact that he hates touring and would've quit soon anyway.

Wow. Izzy looks dreadful. Who's the other guy in the photo?

Isn't doing the right thing and RESIGNING and still end up being used as a scapegoat, being thrown under the bus, and unfairly looking like the bad guy , and the truth only being revealed about 21 YEARS after the fact a good example of,"No good deed goes unpunished?"🥶😵‍💫 Poor Buckethead. 😞

But on the upside being in GN'R for that short time raised Buckets profile. I'm sure after leaving Guns his album sales and attendance and concerts increased. So it's not all bad.

I can't imagine anybody wanting to fork out a few hundred dollars on a T$I? Box set. Like no way that happens.

They might dig into the archives for some more live concert releases but no way would they put out a box set for a covers album few people even remember

Never underestimate what diehard fans starved of new material will fork out for.

Obviously, but it's long been rumoured his recordings were all done by 2002... seems like after that tour ended he was avoiding the band. Brain has talked about nobody being able to reach him, him being paranoid about GNR stuff, etc. We know from the Village leaks that plenty of his recordings were done before they'd ever played a show. It also seems like he quit well before the Rio 2004 cancellation that they blamed on him...

Absolutely. Paul Tobias quit in 01 and he's on many tracks too.

"A boxset of all the albums that happened" is more likely 😅

Nah. Lies (minus One In A Million) was included in the Appetite set. We've just had Use Your Illusions. All that's left is Spaghetti and Chinese. The takeaway boxset 😁?

A boxset of all the albums that never happened: the 96-97 album they were working on, CD from 2001, CD II & III, the reunion album they should have done in 2017-2018...

And the 94 sessions with Gilby.

It JUST occurred to me like three seconds ago that the real reason why Guns N'Roses aren't really releasing Boxsets/Compilation albums is  because of the fact that Fans can literally just download albums for free off of YouTube. I have a phone that I was able to download a 4 hour video  for free off of YouTube. Anyone can just make their own Guns N'Roses Boxset for free using YouTube. They did make a Use Your Illusions Part 1 and 2 Boxset, and that flopped.   What they REALLY should do is go to a Studio and release a brand new album, not give us drips of songs that were recorded years  ago or or even  around 30 years ago. They should make a new album and call it Time For A New Era! That's what Fans REALLY want, not Boxsets of songs that can be easily downloaded for free from YouTube. 💡

Nah. Fans like to collect physical products. Of course we all want a new studio album. But we all know it'll happen when it happens cos Axl is Axl. In the meantime we'll happily take more boxsets.

    Maybe he need money.

I'd be surprised if that's the case. His wife Daniella founded Frankie B jeans (named after their daughter) and is worth millions. You would hope that Gilby got well paid for the Illusion boxset too. As there's a full show of his era and plenty of photos of him in the book.

Sad to see him getting rid of this stuff but presumably he's got his reasons.

Oh, I did. We are lucky we got the boxsets we did.

Well if you'd read it you would have seen this is just a fun post to speculate if they'll put out another boxset and what it might be. Your question "boxset of what exactly" is the point of the thread.

We're we lucky to get the Appetite and Illusions boxsets? Depends how you look at it. I had to wait until two years after both came out and dropped in price a little to be able to afford the CD/Blu-ray super deluxe editions of both Appetite and Illusion. I mean they're fucking awesome sets don't get me wrong. But fucking expensive.

And again lucky? The band and the label would've made a mint from those sets. They weren't giving them away. And as they haven't released a new studio album it was smart to release stuff from the archives. And if they keep dragging the chain with a new album why wouldn't they release something else from the archives?
