"A boxset of all the albums that happened" is more likely 😅

Nah. Lies (minus One In A Million) was included in the Appetite set. We've just had Use Your Illusions. All that's left is Spaghetti and Chinese. The takeaway boxset 😁?

A boxset of all the albums that never happened: the 96-97 album they were working on, CD from 2001, CD II & III, the reunion album they should have done in 2017-2018...

And the 94 sessions with Gilby.

It JUST occurred to me like three seconds ago that the real reason why Guns N'Roses aren't really releasing Boxsets/Compilation albums is  because of the fact that Fans can literally just download albums for free off of YouTube. I have a phone that I was able to download a 4 hour video  for free off of YouTube. Anyone can just make their own Guns N'Roses Boxset for free using YouTube. They did make a Use Your Illusions Part 1 and 2 Boxset, and that flopped.   What they REALLY should do is go to a Studio and release a brand new album, not give us drips of songs that were recorded years  ago or or even  around 30 years ago. They should make a new album and call it Time For A New Era! That's what Fans REALLY want, not Boxsets of songs that can be easily downloaded for free from YouTube. 💡

Nah. Fans like to collect physical products. Of course we all want a new studio album. But we all know it'll happen when it happens cos Axl is Axl. In the meantime we'll happily take more boxsets.

    Maybe he need money.

I'd be surprised if that's the case. His wife Daniella founded Frankie B jeans (named after their daughter) and is worth millions. You would hope that Gilby got well paid for the Illusion boxset too. As there's a full show of his era and plenty of photos of him in the book.

Sad to see him getting rid of this stuff but presumably he's got his reasons.

Oh, I did. We are lucky we got the boxsets we did.

Well if you'd read it you would have seen this is just a fun post to speculate if they'll put out another boxset and what it might be. Your question "boxset of what exactly" is the point of the thread.

We're we lucky to get the Appetite and Illusions boxsets? Depends how you look at it. I had to wait until two years after both came out and dropped in price a little to be able to afford the CD/Blu-ray super deluxe editions of both Appetite and Illusion. I mean they're fucking awesome sets don't get me wrong. But fucking expensive.

And again lucky? The band and the label would've made a mint from those sets. They weren't giving them away. And as they haven't released a new studio album it was smart to release stuff from the archives. And if they keep dragging the chain with a new album why wouldn't they release something else from the archives?

I'd  guess a box set would include a bunch of live shows from 87- 93.  Illusion songs ft Steven adler.  Maybe all of that video footage from the UYI tour as a DVD bonus.

Realistically, I think they are at that point in their careers where we will only get greatest hits albums (see Aerosmith) bc those albums have the only songs the general public cares about.  Hope I'm wrong.

I'm guessing and hoping that any future live releases will be more fully concerts as opposed to more Live Era type releases.

Nah. If they wanted to release the Illusion demos with Steven they would've included them in the Illusion boxset. I think that's more his dream than the band's.

I’d love a CD box set but it won’t happen unless Axl puts it out under his name which he won’t do. Having stripped back demos sold the main songs, selections of unheard songs from the vault, and a live show or 2 with HQ audio and even video would be stellar. Oh well.

Idk what other box sets they could do. I’d happily take more live shows in full, though. Maybe a live era one with some Appetite shows or a NITL box with good shit from 2016? I’d kill for a NITL box, too

No need to release a CD box under Axl's name. Just include the new (ish) songs and a live disc with Slash and Duff playing the CD songs.

They haven’t done TSI because of the same reason they haven’t done reissue Lies. They don’t want to include Look At Your Game Girl. Plus there are upfront mechanical licensing costs because of the covers.  Live Era is probably more of a possibility

The next thing I could see released is a NITL live album, otherwise it will be Atlas Shrugged/Monsters for the next tour

A CD box set would be awesome.  I just don’t think we’ll see it until they are done releasing these “new” songs

Well they don't need to reissue Lies cos the Appetite box has seven out of it's eight songs. They obviously decided to leave One In A Million off.

I don't think we'll get another Live Era type release. Hopefully more fully concerts in all their unmessed with glory.

It'd be easy enough to reissue Spaghetti and just leave off Look At Your Game Girl.

  8. Ok so it seems that besides touring and releasing the occasional new(ish) song that Guns are more interested in releasing boxsets of classic albums and bonus material than a new album. We've had the Appetite box which also included most of Lies. We've had Use Your Illusion. What if anything is next?

Spaghetti Incident with some bonus discs of various covers Guns have done live. Maybe chuck in a Gilby era Blu Ray.

Chinese Democracy boxset would be great but might be a harder sell as it didn't have Slash n Duff on it. Unless it included the singles they've released since they're originally from the Chinese era. A live disc of the current band playing the CD tracks live.

Or perhaps just release some classic shows on CD and Blu Ray. A Not In This Lifetime CD and Blu Ray is way overdue.

Bruh one of the funniest things I find about Dizzy is that I always felt like he was always trying to copy Axl's look lmao. I swear in the 2000s I felt like any time Axl changed his hair, Dizzy would always try to switch it to the exact same thing or something similar lmao. I don't know if I'm the only one who thinks that but I always found that shit humorous.

I never noticed that myself. I thought Paul Tobias looked like a bad Axl clone.

Honestly I feel like because Dizzy was so fresh in the band, he was still trying to earn everyone's respect. A lack of shots for someone that new is not that surprising to me. I think I even remember reading in one of their books that Dizzy wasn't well respected at first. With all that being said, I can totally understand the jokes that people make about him and I definitely find them funny. At the same time, I do respect Dizzy and his talents. He's a legit member.

Well Dizzy actually joined before Matt did. The issue was that Axl asked Dizzy to join the band and didn't consult the others. They gave Dizzy a hand time for a little while when really they should've talked to Axl. But Dizzy gelled with the others pretty quick.

Damn, I completely forgot about that. Well, it's been a while (I don't remember the keys at all). Anyway, Dizzy's position in the band is cemented, and rightfully so.

And let's be honest. If any of us could play keys and got offered the opportunity Dizzy was who in their right mind wouldn't take it? To mock him for not doing anything to screw it up for 34 years is stupid. And to be the only classic member for a long time and surviving the craziness that is having Axl for a boss he must have the patience of a saint.

I don’t have a problem with Dizzy, and I wouldn’t exactly call him a yes man either, tbh. When the old bickering couple finally broke up, it’s not like he had a huge dilemma as to which side to choose. Slash’s subsequent music, whether Snakepit or later VR, didn’t need keyboards, while Axl, on the other hand, always did – hell, he had not one but two keyboardists in the band at the same time! And so Dizzy stayed, minding his own business, playing the awesome Estranged solo every night (I mean, since 2011).
And the fact he never told us anything of real value in the interviews? Well, no shit, as he obviously wasn’t allowed to (not that this has drastically changed since 2016 regarding even Slash or Duff).
If you want to look for yes men, remember a certain guy reacting like a wounded rabid dog every time someone dared to criticize anything regarding Axl online; or a woman who gets hugged by Axl on the side of the stage mid-song and who holds an umbrella for him when he’s picking up his mail, for god’s sake (where’s the yellow raincoat when you need one, huh?). Yeah, if I wanted to look for yes men, that’s where I’d turn my attention to.
Dizzy is ok. Neved done any harm that we're aware of. Playing his part. Why not.

I agree with all that you wrote with just one correction. Both Snakepit albums have keyboards. Dizzy on the first. Teddy on the second.

I never liked him in GnR.
he’s obviously very lucky to have been friends with Axl so he joined and hasn’t rocked the boat in 34 years.

    the ultimate yes man.

Dizzy was definitely lucky. But that's not to say he isn't very talented and deserving of his place in the band.

I think he's very loyal to Axl cos Axl made him a band member when he was being evicted and was about to have nowhere to live. I don't think it's about being a yes man and not rocking the boat. Of course Dizzy knows he's got a gig many can only dream of. Why fix what ain't broke.

i never understood have teddy ziz zag andreadis having dizzy in the tour, and now melissa

Yeah I agree. Dizzy is good enough for it to be just him. I will say tho that I love the extended version of Move To The City.

I think with Chris and now Melissa it's not so much about having another keys player but someone to play the right samples and layers at the right times. I've heard that Melissa thickens the sound live so it sounds like there's three guitars instead of two or something.

Probably because he’s completely irrelevant. I’ve often wondered why he bothers to stay on stage shaking a little percussion instrument that no one can hear during half the songs.

Well he's obviously not irrelevant cos he's lasted 34 years straight and counting. He stays on stage the full show switching between keys and percussion cos he's a band member, not a backup musician. And you can often hear Dizzy on percussion. Take Rocket Queen on Tokyo 92 where he switches between keys and percussion. He's actually a pretty decent percussionist as well as keys player.

He's all over the Chinese Democracy album and the recently released songs. Obviously Axl thinks he's worth keeping around. And a lot of members have come and gone.

  16. Ok apologies if this has been addressed in another thread. So I've finally gotten a reasonably priced UYI super deluxe edition (7 CD and Blu Ray version). Obviously the first disc I play is the Blu Ray. And whilst it's a great performance from Izzy era Illusion tour one thing sucks. Did whoever the camera people were forget about Dizzy? You can see his piano on the left hand side of the stage. If you squint you can see him in the shadows. I think one of the only times you see him when Axl introduces him during Estranged.

I know he's not an original member and most fans probably watch for Axl, Slash n Duff. But Matt wasn't an original member and we see plenty of him. I don't know about everyone else. But if I buy something which contains a Blu Ray concert of a favourite artist/band I expect to see the whole fucking band.

Happy birthday! What an amazing gift. Some of us (including me) bitched about it because we are content starved and wanted demoes too, but when you dive into it, it is truly a must- have set. Those two concerts are phenomenal; the best live albums from GNR you can get. The Ritz Blu- Ray might be the best live video of the band in existence. I think this release is the best thing the band has put out since the reunion.

I have the vinyl box and in terms of the insert, I agree. I just keep it on top of my Locked N' Loaded box in a stack of junk. I need to organize

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Fucking JB NZ has now taken 40 bucks off the price and it's only 159:99. Oh fuck it I've got it now. And for seven CDs, a Blu Ray, huge book and everything else I guess it's still a pretty good buy.
