"I was on the MSN chat board when this all went down. It was a small group of us, 95% of whom fell for this fraud and furiously defended him to the bitter end. Myself and a guy named Alex from Greece didn't buy it. We played along long enough to prove PRIVATE a fraud, once we had gathered a nice collection of saved chat logs and personal PMs from PRIVATE, fake photos of Axl as a child, candid photos of Axl that ended up being not-so-candid, and of course PRIVATE's traced Finnish IP, all of which contributed to his downfall. Nevertheless, most of the members of the chatroom, with Darknemus at their helm, fought furiously to denounce Alex and I, while PRIVATE threatened us with "Axlish" insults and swore to call us out on Chinese Democracy's CD sleeve. Over the course of a few weeks, as word began to spread across other message boards, it became laughable for anyone to continue to believe his shit.

Now...let's talk about the heart of deceipt. It wasn’t that long ago that darknemus was complicit in the very organization of this little stunt. Let’s recap:

Darknemus claimed to personally have extended conversations with Axl on the phone and on the internet. Axl, known as “PRIVATE” on the GNFNR message board, was a man who posted from a Finnish IP address (darknemus claimed Axl bought a laptop from Finland and used Michael Monroe’s IP, even after Monroe had recently said in an interview that the new GNR “sucked”). PRIVATE also spoke Dutch fluently in chat (wow, Axl speaks Dutch?) and tended to forget critical facts such as Buckethead’s real name and which hand he (Axl) favored, claiming he we left-handed when in reality Axl smokes right-handed, plays guitar right-handed, punches right-handed (St. Louis riot), and best of all, he WRITES right-handed (signing autographs). But hey, he sings left-handed sometimes!!! Darknemus was also good friends with another fictitious Rose acquaintance, “Cookie”, Axl’s make-believe fiancé who worked in a bar in Florida. He claimed to have went to her house and saw pictures of her and Axl, who were engaged to be married, yet she mysteriously had a thing for darknemus and flirted with him (boy Axl must have been jealous). In fact, Axl couldn’t break away from his visits to Finland to come and see his to-be wife personally, so she spent New Years with darknemus and they chatted with Axl on the phone (cough*bullshit*cough).

To make a long story short, when everyone caught on that this was a fraud, darknemus played like he was duped by this liar named PRIVATE, hoping everyone would forget the fact that he claimed to have talked personally with Axl on a regular basis, talked with Axl’s sister on the phone, met Axl’s girlfriend and went to her house on a regular basis, saw pictures of Axl & Cookie together at her house, and swapped personal candid photographs with Axl from his personal photo collection, among many other complicit lies. In fact, almost everything about this scam came directly through darknemus’, yet he tries to this day to play innocent, while he continues to post lies about his make-believe “contacts”. Let's not forget the infamous "contact" who snuck him into a Florida radio studio at 2:00 AM in the morning, so as to secretely overhear a few higher-ups roll a Chinese Democracy demo while Darknemus crouched behind a desk holding his breath....and you can't imagine how many many people believe him to this day.

Take it as you will. How 'bout them "fake insiders"?

At one point, he claimed he hadn't heard the tracks that were leaked onto the Net.

But when Eddie asked him if these tracks would be on the album, he said they would be. If he hadn't heard them, how would he know this?

He read the press releases, so he knows what titles leaked. He just hasn't heard the leaks (does not go online) so he doesn't know what versions were leaked.

There was a new version of SCOM for the Big Daddy soundtrack. The first part of the song is "old GNR" playing live. The second part of the song is "new GNR" (circa 1999).

If you have the Big Daddy version throw it on and have a good listen.

I don't think it's a fair comparison really. To me the live track sounds a little "muddier" and if I'm right, and if the merge is at the 3 minute mark there is a pretty clear difference between the two versions.

My first impressions of the song where that the song was actually NOT that powerful. But then I did think that it really picked up towards the end of the song. And that was before I knew about the merge, I just noticed that it had a stronger ending. So there we go - I prefer the last part of the song.

Good Observation!......some of my favorite songs are ones that I didn't immediately Love.....but learned to

appreciate, listening to the unexpected requires an open mind......and a closed mouth!

Let's face one thing: recently all the signs have pointed to the fact that Slash is once again part of the GNR set-up and Richard is not.

There's no way that Axl would have released the part of the press statement that featured Slash without prior permission from Slash. Both Axl and Slash probably came to the conclusion that the statement was the best way to give Slash the leeway to leave VR.

And remember one thing: Axl has absolutely no loyalty towards the NuGNR band members. All of them are merely hired Guns, excuse the pun. Think about it: Brain, in an interview a while back, said with a sarcastic laugh that he assumed he was still part of GNR but hadn't spoken to Axl for ages.

I know that we should support the new band, and I do, but only because Axl's in it. For me, however, the only picture that will ever enter my mind when I think of Guns N Roses is this one: -

Fans of the new band are fans of Axl Rose. Bands are not one-man machines, they are homogenous units with composite parts. Remove one of those parts and, however you dress it up, the band is no more. There were two composite units in GNR - Axl and Slash.

First of all what about all the work Robin FInck has put into this project? He has put at least 7 years of his life and has remained loyal to Axl. So I would say that Axl has a HUGE loyalty to Robin in return. He couldnt just kick him out llike that.

I am not a fan of Axl, but Im a fan of both new and old gnr - so your logic is all wrong buddy - and I know many more that are fans of some of these new members.

Can you guys remember that statement Axl made at the 2002 tour how if any body was hoping for a reunion EVER that it just wasnt going to happen. SO there you go.

Well if it isn't my dear friend Warchild...the forum poet himself. I am honored by thy presence. I never said it can't be done, I said what will happen is anybody's guess. The reason I'm willing to bet it hasn't been done before is because *most* artists have the dignity and confidence to go under a different name if they are no longer with the original band members. They want to prove to others they can succeed on their own. Mr. Rose is using an established name to do that. I think we both can agree there are a vast majority of casual fans who probably believe the original band are still together and are not in the know like us. The frontmen who did try to do their own thing like Steven Tyler or kiss which replaced a few band members failed commercially and were forced to regroup with the original band. So yeah so far it's an uphill battle for Axl. If anyone can do it, it's him.

But I have just one question. Why? Why did it even have to be done in the first place? It's a sad day when a man breaks up the greatest band ever just to get his sole vision across under a band's name. I wish he just released a solo album and kept the band together. That's really my problem Warchild. Even if you don't agree with it, Im sure you can atleast understand that.

Yeah we've had 10 years to deal with it, but Axl's finally coming out with a new band and there are a lot of disgruntled fans he's going to have to win over. Ultimately that is where the line between Axl Rose fans and GnR fans are drawn. The latter will have to be won over by Axl. I wish him the best of luck, like I said, he has an uphill battle...but if anyone can do it...it's him.

And yes...that is Phil Collins' lyrics. I have a varied taste in music and don't shy away from an artist just because their names become synonymous with generic radio fodder. At one time he was a great artist. "In the Air tonight" is widely recognized as a classic, and rightfully so. It's also the defining song in Miami Vice, which is why it's in my sig.
