It's not that the song sucks, it's just that it doesn't measure up to the expectations I have. Guns' worst material is way better than the shit out now, and if it were by a lesser band it would be great compared to anything else they might play.

The part that confuses me about all this is that when talking to some people its as though the minute these shows were announced the rest of the tour ceased to exist. Fair enough if you live in or near New York, its the perfect oppertunity.

But I've spoken to, or read posts by, people from all over the world who are planning to go to absurd lengths to get there. Flying in from other countries, including ones they will be playing in later.

Why are these particular shows so important?..

Why? Because they're the first shows - and, more importantly, they're small venues. There's just nothing better than seeing a great band in a small intimate venue. Can't explain it. And it's unlikely we'll have the opportunity to see GNR in this type of a venue again.

There are also rumors they may shoot a vid at these shows, but these are just rumors at this point.

on stage OR in the audience

The balconies have seats - but people could sit anywhere - except the cordoned off sections. There was also a VIP seated area on the sides -- that were raised up a few feet from the floor. Not sure if it will be the same set-up for GNR - but it might be.

Does this mean that poeple just stand up and go as near to the stage as they want to? if so, there must be a lot of pushing, right?

Well, there's no seats on the floor...sooooo, you stand the whole time.

But yes...there is lots of pushing, shoving and jostling and probably some moshing going on on the floor toward the front of the venue.

In the balconies (which do have seats, even when they are GA) not so much. Mostly because there's no room for it. You get there, find an open seat (like at a movie theater) and pretty much stay there. Some will try to crowd the balcony rail, but security can get a bit strict about that....nobody wants anyone to go over or drop something over onto the crowd below.

IF you sit on your ass at a concert........MAYBE you should give your tickets to somebody who would enjoy

it more!!!

GNR music was indeed relevant to the time it was written, it also becomes relevent to any generation who hears it. Like a fine wine.This was a band who played music for all the right reasons and never allowed "the market" to drive their creativity.Every song is an experience, and though many of the songs are nothing new, the way they were done, the careful attention to detail seemingly with no attention at all, the spontaneity and power, coupled with engaging structures, chord progressions, and mysteriously haunting lyrics, made this band and their music timeless.12 year olds all over the world are, even now, being turned on to GUNS N' ROSES, loving it, and bringing the music forward in time for another generation to enjoy, who will most certainly pass it on again.Like someone said earlier, AXL is already a legend..he has his own style and charisma as opposed to all the the movement that are perverted into a money making "genre" and copied by a thousand talentless coat-tail riding posers.Chinese Democracy, like some people seems to forget, is the most anticipated album of all time..It already succeeded.

Agreed, in every way. I dont believe GNR will be able to fill this vaccum again. The leaks show that Axl N' Friends are about to take the music industry a big step foward, theses songs are better than anything out there, but something is missing. Attitude and anger mainly, thats what feuled GNR back in the day. Of course, times have changed since then, but the general public thinks of Axl as a 40 year old has been rocker. If there is a huge success with Chineses Democracy, the music world would be taken by surprise, not a whole lot of people are expecting Chinese Democracy to be a hit outside of this forum.
