Damn - I have to agree with WC and the others, though I admit I never gave it much thought until this thread.

I don't always agree with what Eminem says (as I don't always agree with what Axl says) in his songs, but the lyrics are well written and he displays a talent for speaking to his target demographics. In a lot of ways, Axl and Eminem are actually very similar.

The music scene is a bit devastated, but there is good music around......try Dream Theater, for epic ballads

i think eminem is probaly the best song writer around..... but Axl isn't 28 anymore, he is 44 and i am not expecting him to prance around on stage like a badass, his music is what people come to hear, his badass attitude is just a bonus for a concert.... though i would like to see him as a badass on stage

I think you are missing the point. The game has already been won. No we/GNR/whoever arent going back in time to when It's So Easy was the tune. Axl is a huge rock star and that is that. They did UYI and it sold a ton and cemented GNR as a big band. Now Axl is a legend. This album if it ever comes out is like the equivalent of Lennon's Double Fantasy for people of a certain age. Axl does really occupy that sort of space in people's minds. You can pretend that he's an unknown guy but the whole music industry knows who he is. Everyone in the western world knows he's the biggest rock star out there. Do the Stones fill a vacuum when they do an album and tour? No people just welcome them back because they love them.

People, it's 2006 and GNR is playing in a tiny venue in NYC, and scoring a ticket for such an exclusive night will require two things - MONEY or CONNECTIONS. If you don't have either, prepare to hear shitty bootlegs until Fall. While I wouldn't mind paying $500 a tix to see Axl, I have some connections that will surely be able to hook me up. I could easily get some people on this board near NYC tickets, but then again, I am the FAG Kaneda; well who's the FAG when I am standing front row when Axl takes the stage? LOL. My thoughts are yeah these tickets are going to be impossible, not because of the obsessed fans like us who have been checking this board daily since December of 2002 waiting for a glimmer of hope, but because there are so many other people in New York City who are going to hear about this during the next week and just "Have to Go" - lots of us die-hards are certainly going to be shut out.

It seems like it is pretty easy for Ticketmaster and/or CC and/or management to set up pre-sales on TM.com a day before. how about requesting that they do one of the MYGNRFORUM member who have been registered before today at least... Unless you get down there yourselves, you have a very slight chance of getting tickets. They will sell-out their "external ticket" supply within 5-10 minutes. Ticketmasters active matrix phone system will arbitrarily sellect callers who have actually gotten through. The problem is this: ticket angencies who use the same phone systems as telemarketers, are able to dial numerous times from many different numbers. They will get many of these tickets too. Maybe I will get down to 34th & 8th, only to see a mob? I am not even sure I will get tickets anymore. I will surely do my best!

And NYC is the safest large city in the world! Mid-town is safer than most small towns in America. No one is going to get shot or raped, unless Axl brings a gun, or is really horny after the show...

It is not the psychiatric disorder itself that increases the risk of completed suicide, but the combination of the psychiatric disorder and a stressor, such as the death of a loved one, separation and divorce. I considered Drugs and alcohol to be in the category of psychiatric disorder which i'm associated with. However, those who go on to commit suicide rarely have "pure" depression, but usually depression that is comorbid with alcohol or drug. The suicide risk among alcoholics and junkies like me is similar to that in patients with mood disorders, but alcoholics and junkies tend to commit suicide late in the course of alcoholism or their drug abuse and are frequently depressed at the time of death abuse. I'm doing good now and i'd like to think that the music was a factor for my rehabilitation.
