  1. Despite Axl's insistence that it will come out this year, it still looks very unlikely to happen. March 6th is a write off already as there has been no promotion and there is no single.

I think it's pretty obvious that we are now entering another 'off' stage with Axl. No management to pressure him, he's probably forgetting that he has an album to release.

The worst thing about all this is the quality of the album MUST be in doubt. If it were any good it would have been out by now.

  2. Fan friendly or a dork? Seriously, was Slash ever fan friendly? The man was a drunk and we loved it. When bucket shows up somewhere, he has presence to say the least (albeit because of a chicken bucket on his head)...but Ron and the rest of them have no such presence...which is why they are always re-inventing their looks...

Slash was weird and strange, so was bucket

Ron is a nice guy, but who cares...I don't want a GNR lead guitarsit to email me back his vacation photos, I want a GNR lead guitarist to do this...

god damn it I miss Bucket in this band.....he gave a new meaning to Nightrain rock3

Aye, he did. But he did it whilst looking a complete prick.

There is a time and a place for a talent like his, but it is most certainly not in Guns n' Roses.

Same with Brain whilst we are at it.

What next, we bring in Celine Dion because she's a better vocalist than Axl?

  3. Someone add this thread to their favourites so we can bring it back for a laugh when the first "CD delay" announcement is made.

Whilst a tentative release date is better than a ridiculous mystical statement, it's nothing to get excited about, particularly when its a quarter of a year away.

  4. I actually think whoever wrote Axl's press release edits got it right.

Merck's attitude to the fans was poor and his communication worse. He was actively taking the pi$$ out of us and delighted in that.

  5. Yes, partly.

From the two statements you can gather than there was a lot of personal friction between the two.

In praise of Merck I think he is probably the only reason the band is currently touring, I don't think Axl has the go in him to want to do something like that. We can also take it as a granted that Axl is one lazy, spoilt mofo. The only reason the album isn't out is him, and his 'creative processes' which basically involve drinking, sex and Grand Theft Auto in your bedroom. Anything but working on the album.

Merck wasn't good at his job though. He communicated extremely poorly with the press and the fans when he did make comment, and his comments about 13 Tuesdays and the like were ridiculous.

At the end of the day the tour happened for financial reasons, which a few of us had realised before today. The talk about the album was intended only to promote ticket sales for the shows. But being fair to Merck, he probably had to do that to keep them in funds because Axl kept upsetting the plans by not finishing the album, an album which is still unfinished.

I think Merck's sacking is probably a good thing for all concerned. Guns need to lighten up and let someone, Del James would be perfect, update the fans more. Tell them whats going on and limit the frustration to a minimum and actually involve people through the wonders of the internet. Have blogs style updates from the guys, doing crazy stuff backstage at the live shows, rehearsing and doing the videos. Just be more creative and forward minded.

The legal stuff mentioned in the releases are probably part of the reason Axl has never finished the album. There is so much going on that he always has something else to blame it on, but himself.

With Merck gone, there is no one left to blame.

    It's March or never now.

  6. This is an interesting development IF the article is genuine and they really did interview Baz without twisting what he said.

Firstly assuming the above is proved right, it proves there is a release date. That is something we have never had.

But I will remain sceptical on this one as if Baz knows then surely it would be common knowledge.

  7. hahaha so thats what this mess is is it??? a band i thought bands released albums every few years and interacted with the fans hahahahaha, this aint a band, hey merck your are nothing but a little fucking wanker that eats axls shite start treating the fans with some respect and you might just might gain mine,

so what now this mess of a band has what like 6 drummers 5 keyboardists 6 guitarists oh fuck i lost count now either tell us what the shit is with this album or just get yourself to fuck you ignorant fucking scum.

We don't allow members to make personal attacks against band members, management or other forum members. Please respect this forum rule if you wish to continue posting here.

If you don't mind I'd like to ask for a little more active enforcement of this rule. Sometimes it gets hard to wade through all the BS around here.

Personal attacks against board members yes, the other stuff no. If you are talking about the band management, we should be able to criticise them all we want. After all they leave themselves thoroughly open to it and have done precious little good in recent years.

We can't let this place turn into HTGTH and have every second poster banned. A lot of people died to protect our freedom of speech, it's not right that it is taken away by forum mods when threads aren't doing any harm.

  8. 2005 is the year of Guns n' Roses - Merck

I love it how this is just the universal answer to posts that suggest that Merck isn't a liar.

    -Syth :drevil:

He did say that. You Axl-ites are every bit as bad as the negative (Read realistic) people on the forums. If this bull$hit situation continued for another seven or eight years, you would still come on here making out that Merck tells us the truth or that Axl is reliable and is just trying to make it even better.

The problem most people have with the situation, other than them ripping the fans off by doing a AFD nostalgia/cover band act, is that Axl and the band and it's management have repeatedly promised us the album, then failed to deliver anything.

The list of direct quotes people could roll out is unbelievable. For example Axl's "We'll be back here next year with a whole bunch of new songs" at Rio in 2001/02. They're still waiting.

The band has thoroughly fuc$ed things up.
