People were dancing in the hallways shouting GNR is back!
That was always one of my favorite tall tales during the Dark Times!

Isn't that the song from Beautiful Disease?

90% yes, this is how I guess song was meant to be released, but someone fucked something up with this digital release
So, I'm super hard of hearing these days. Sometimes songs just sound muddy or muted, and The General leak and official streaming sounded only a little different to me. Both a bit muddy...
The vinyl by far is the superior version, and I can pick up a lot of layers I was missing on the other versions.

I wasn't expecting the mix itself to be different from the leak, but I was expecting the clipping to be gone. What on earth happened there???
I assume they will be scheduling additional 3 hour meetings, no?

The horn section is still there, just buried at 3:52 and beyond.
My hearing is so bad... damn that rock n roll music!

Am I the only one who misses the horn section from the concert intros? It was such a sinister, cinematic sound. I like the orchestra we can hear in the leaked mix, and I imagine the official release will have them higher in the mix.

It's full on Vegas with the floating Piano but hey, it IS Vegas, so....
I enjoyed it. I would of loved a proshot of the 2014 return, with the likes of Prosititute joining the set, etc.
Totally! I was at the last of the 2014 Vegas shows. Good stuff!

Chuck in Eye On You too. Strangely it kinda fits with SoG and The General & Monsters
I can't lie, I had MacDaddy going through my head when I heard it. That and that drumbeat could have been from the same sessions for sure.

Personally, its State of Grace. There's something about that one that I really like, even in its rough scratch vocal state. I think en EP with The General and Monsters, State of Grace, and maybe Oh My God would be amazing.
I'd also quite like to hear a bucket version of Silkworms, complete with the 'Bitch like you...' chorus. Absurd isn't bad, but I much preferred earlier live versions when it was still Silkworms. I know I'm in the minority on that one!
Throw that one with the other "new" singles, the newest leaks, Atlas, OMG, a rerecording of Better with the semi reunion intro, and The Seeker/Witchita and we have a whole album.
I'm here for it. It won't happen, but I'm here for it.

It’s crazy that the rest of these tracks have never leaked. They have to have been in private circulation for years now. I have no idea how other hard core fan bases operate (because I’m only a hardcore GNR fan) but I cannot imagine people not wanting to share music with other fans. I know in the past these unreleased songs brought a lot of unwanted attention and legal issues for some people but at this point I doubt any leak would get any media attention and really only about a thousand people would even care.
I guess I am getting old! I could've sworn earlier and alternate versions existed... My memory is not as sharp as it used to be. I used to have CDs full of the live boots and demos from all eras, and every little snippet before 2008, but they have been long gone.
I was always super keen on the insider trading thing. I was never a part of it, but the tales were always fun to read.

Can anyone explain to me why Johnny Cash?
Folsom Prison Blues, my friend.
Just a jog up the highway from the venue.
I'm a Sacramento native, and figured they'd use other iconography, but Johnny Cash is fun.

They must have some kind of internal metrics/sales figures to justify this release, i.e. ~3000 people who will buy anything Guns N' Roses if it has "Limited Edition" slapped on it. Think I paid £3 at a charity shop for the "Strictly Limited Edition" VHS of the Garden of Eden music video which I think I've since lost in a move
There were plans for that around 2006: http://www.troccolitm.com/CDVol2Great.html
Loved the cover and disc art on this one. Too bad it never came out.
I'd be willing to bet, though, in a few years there will be a set similar to this that runs through the entire catalog.

IRS has always been one of my least favorite songs, though the demos were vastly superior to the release.
Shackler's was great seeing live years ago, which was my vote. ITW would be great, too, musically.
If Axl could muster baritone for the whole song, and not sound like a lounge singer, then those could work.

I've forgotten so much about Chinese Democracy over the years. Better and Shackler's Revenge are the only post-2002 vocal songs I can think of off the top of my head. Maybe Sorry and If the World?
If the World had vocals on the Locker Leaks, I believe. Which was surprising since we'd never heard of it prior to the 2007 leaks.

I don't know if it's related to the song, but I do recall Tommy being referred to as The General sometime around 2009/10 maybe.
Even at Rio 2001!
Will this be one of the tracks with vocals post 2002, a la Better? I am holding out hope since it was only an instrumental piece in 2006-2007 (as far as we know), but the cellphone clip was more recent than that. Guess we will have more to talk about soon enough!

I'll bet you a shiny nickel that the lyrics in the Prostitute remix feature in The General... Based on absolutely nothing.
I can make stuff up, too!

I remember that video. It was from one of the 2006 shows if I remember right.
It used to be on the official site pre-reunion. Maybe Nightrain at Download?

To quote Fernando, "Perhaps is a great song; the General is a monster."
