An EP with the original 5 would be cool.. I think the AFD5 would bump sales, but even if it didn't at least the band would sound a heap better.

Not being too familiar with the recent era I was surprised how sterile and uninspired it sounded - did Fortus used to be a session player by any chance ?

I don't think it will ever happen, but Alice Cooper did an EP or some such recently with former band mates, while still keeping together his current touring band. It can be done.

Face it, there are 20 year old demos (plus more which were not leaked yet)- if they were going to be finished and released, they would've been. An AFD5 reunion would be met with the same challenges as any other lineup.

Yeah, especially if it ends up including all the members from the band’s history, in some shape or form (Duff kinda hinted at that once).

I had thought this around the time of Golden Gods when he thanked all the past lineups et al. He seemed really upbeat. It is a nice way to legitimize all the players in the legacy of the band.

Happy birthday to the album that turned me into a hardcore GN'R fan.

Crazy to think the followup has not yet been released, which was presumably ready by the time CD came out, if not earlier as indicated by the Axl Rose interview on the Eddie Trunk radio show in 2006 where he said about 2.5 albums worth of material was done.

12 years on, still a very underrated album from @gunsnroses . Loved the mystery, intrigue, and the ever-evolving mythology over the years from sessions to the eventual release. Waiting on Round 2!

I want to start a thread. Why the fuck was chris pitman fired? He was in the band like 18 years. sure we dont know exactly what he did in that time, but he got a lot of song writing credits. What did he do to get fired? he basically confirmed the reunion - he was so happy and excited. Then a week before it goes down he says its a cash grab. and a blue haired chick is there in his place. Reveals later she only found out weeks before that they wanted her. it's almost 5 years now, a member of one of the biggest bands in the world is kicked out, and not only does no one give a fuck, we still dont know why.

That's true! I don't think I heard anything from Chris other than his tweets, and I don't think there has been any real mention aside from the cashgrab comment... Still good friends with some of the guys. He had been working on material as early as 1997 or 1998, so I imagine a pseudo-reunion rubbed him wrong: he was very invested in the era and likely wanted it to continue, though by that point they had already hit a wall. Still, I would prefer to hear from the source rather than speculate.

This says "All future material" but I definitely remember something at the time from a news source that mentioned around 50 songs.

"Axl Rose Signs To Sanctuary Publishing
    26 January 2005

Sanctuary Music Group has signed Axl Rose to a publishing deal. Until recently, Warner Chappell published the Guns N' Roses frontman's works.

The deal covers both future material and catalogue. Rose's contribution to such hits as "Sweet Child O' Mine," "Paradise City" and "November Rain" are covered under the deal, as are dozens of new tracks Rose has recently recorded for Universal Music."

This was found on Jarmo's website, but I did not look on Sanctuary to see if they had archived copy. I remember this blurb at the time, but like everything else regarding the recordings, I assumed it was hyperbolic.

Bumping this thread. Emeterio shared 3 more pics from this day.

About a year ago I posted a picture of myself and Axl at his front gate to which some said was fake... ok... ??? while other online websites flipped because it showed Axl’s not seen at the time leg tattoos. I’m now showing my other photos from the same day of Axl doing his workout up the hills of LCR where he lives. I’ve never shared these photos but what good are they if they can’t be seen?! I was 18 years old at the time. Obsessed with GNR as I am today, found his house in Malibu from the Estranged video and a very nice 76 gasoline attendants directions. I talked with Betta about 20 min who told me thru the entercom which is photographed here that he was not In town.
Later after a full conversation Betta came down to the gate and explained he was in the middle
Of this workout and would be out soon if I waited which I did. Axl then came thru his gate, gave me a high five and hug and hung out for about 5 minutes and singed some stuff for me. This was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had, call it stalkerish or whatever but I’m sure may if you would have done the same thing to meet your idol in 1998.

Original pic from last year (now gone from OP)

In all fairness, apart from a few ashba cock ups. They put on one hell of show in 09-10. Axl seemed to be mostly firing on all cylinders. Their version of Whole lotta rosie and riff raff kicked arse. Think that was the forum in '11 though

I went to the 2011 Forum show! Good stuff. I miss Ron. Instrumental (pun intended) in getting Don't Cry, Civil War, and Estranged back into the live rotation. He really came into his own with the band from 2009 on.

I just got to the Tommy Demo #1. Can someone refresh for me, maybe I'm getting it confused. I feel like this track sounds familiar, so was there an instrumental version of this song but under a different name somewhere else in these leaks? I don't know, the instrumentation sounds familiar, but maybe everything here is just starting to sound similar.

When I first heard it, I thought I had heard it before, too. I could not figure it out, but the guitar and drums sound familiar to me.

This is one of the best shows Axl has ever put on for sure. There used to be an entire version of the show on YouTube from the audience in great quality. Had the part where Axl rips Dizzy and tells him to restart Madagascar. Wish I could find that again.

I believe I have that version on my laptop. I will have to take a look.

I seem to remember a few shows Madagascar had to be restarted, as well as in the leaked 2009 rehearsal. I may be wrong...

Nothing wrong with that, iron maiden did it with flight 666 and you get a solid set list with the best performances from the entire tour.

thats how a functioning band with a good manager does it right

Flight 666 is a lot of fun, especially the documentary aspect. I thought years back they were going to do that, what with the Tommy Stinson rehearsal videos and such. We can hope!

Really makes you wonder if something was planned this year. Huge bummer if the one year out of the last 12 we could’ve potentially gotten a new album had to be postponed due to a pandemic. What are the odds?

Maybe. Not that we ever get real information from the camp. Remember this gem from The Beta?

'The album was completed before Christmas,' [Beta] says, 'but everyone knows that...'"  (Classic Rock, 02/08)

Everyone knows that, except the public and the fans, who might want to know... Still, I hope SHM isn't just saying stuff, and that something is/was in motion.

It really pisses me off that Axl teased a very Steve Ray Vaughan style Robin solo in an unreleased song that we may never hear unless it leaks.

This!  I am certain over time more will leak, as Axl, Caram, and French Eric kept on in the studio in 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2014 tinkering with previously recorded material (if rumors are half true), and I am sure they did more than rework the 2000 sessions, though there was a lot of that over the years!

Oh he still had his voice, I think often he just held back during that spell. There are some great individual shows where Axl pushes himself. My top 4 would be Denver 2011, Philly 2012 and the last two Vegas shows 2014. Those shows had some great vocal performances.

I was at the final Vegas 2014 show, and I thought it was a really solid show. Do you think that he pushed himself a little bit more knowing that this would likely be the last time that incarnation was wholly together?
