I never really used to be particularly into them at the time. I never got why people would listen to them instead of Greenday, who I had always thought did the same sort of thing but much better.
In hindsight though, I think they were a good fun band and I can enjoy the odd song if I hear it.

This is the first I've heard of it actually.

Funny you're talking about On the Road. I bought the new original scroll version of it the other day. Haven't started it yet, anyone read it?

I think your review is concise and informative, nothing that should stir much hatred. I've seen universally bad reviews for this album, (worse than the last one which I remember seemed to get quite mediocre reviews at best.) I think the most brutal review was in the Guardian where the writer was effectively claiming that Robert Smith was an emotionally retarded manchild stranded in a whirlwind of self obsession.
I haven't heard it yet but I can't even stomach Disintegration to be honest. Apart from the odd song.
Definately a singles band.

He was up there with the greats. Amazing drummer. RIP.

I still think the best album ending song is "Anywhere I Lay My Head" off Tom Waits' Rain Dogs album.

It's odd that people are so dismissive of guitar virtuosos. Personally I admire their immense dedication to technically mastering their instruments. That said, there are few that I actually want to listen to, Satriani would be one, Vai's good on occaisons. I haven't really listened to much Michael Angelo Batio.

But I wants Aerosmith tour.
Fuck Aerosmith.
Aero Zeppelin is where it's at.

I was reading in the Guardian today that people are buying the new AC/DC album because "AC/DC's appeal in unpredictable times is straightforward. People crave something uncomplicated and dependable in a time of uncertainty and rock music has never produced a band so uncomplicated and dependable as AC/DC."
Suppose the guy had to fill the word limit somehow.

I've got Night at the Opera and I really don't like it. Am I right in giving up on liking this band? Or do they have some sort of less overblown, more gritty stuff that I might find interesting?
-
I love it.
I literally just wrote that without noticing the pun. I apologise.
But really, it is a great album. You can see how they influenced the Doors, shame they never got the recognition they deserved at the time.

I don't particularly like it.
Mostly overplayed.
Sad But True is still a great song though.

I'm going to burrrmingham.
Awesome. Can't wait.

Am I right in thinking that the only band to turn down supporting the Rolling Stones were the Stone Roses?
That was just a PR stunt, the roses were never offered a support slot for the stones. If you read the books breaking into heaven and the stones roses and the ressurection of british pop, theres interviews with their old manager and he tells ya it was all bs. Ive read interviews with Ian Brown where hes said the same.
Ah thats interesting, thanks mate!

Looking for some cool post-hardcore bands. I've alerady got all the albums from Enter Shikari, Gallows, The Blood Brothers and various norwegian hardcore-acts. Anyone?
I have a feeling you'll like The Bronx, if you haven't heard them already.
I'm not sure if you'd call them post-hardcore though, more straight hardcore.
Your feeling was right Sweet! You got some more recommendations?
Glad you liked them! You heard The Refused? Fugazi?
-
Nope.
I would say the Stooges.
-
Got to hand it to them.
Everytime I think they can't get any worse, they go right out and prove me wrong.
-
This is unprecedented! Paying money for an artist NOT to perform?
You listened to the radio lately? Seems to be the best way to revitalise the fledging music industry if you ask me.

Flipper have a song called Love Canal.
And Panama have a canal.
So Flipper.

It seems she only wants to "set him free from the media circus" in order to make that "same media circus" pay attention to her.

I liked them but I'm not particularly...bothered to be honest. Imo Carl Barat was the straight up rock n' roll influence that Pete needed to stop him from warbling on incoherently and was the perfect balance, but the DPT I always felt were just good party music.
I mean, the Libertines WILL reform sooner or later as long as Pete Doherty is alive. It's just inevitable. I don't know why they keep delaying it.

Out of those, I'd say Belle and Sebastian but you should have put down Jesus and Mary Chain.
Feel free to do what's being done with some of the Scandinavian threads and make "Part II".
Nah I'm alright, you did quite a comprehensive list really. I wasn't putting your selection down, I just love that band! Haha.
Anyway, if I was do a sequel I would have to pit Jesus and the Mary Chain against like, who? The View?
Although, I quite like that Glasvegas song I heard actually, anyone got their album?

That's crazy, I remember getting their Zarcorp demo album a couple of years ago before they got signed.
This must be what indie cred feels like.
But seriously, they're a good fun band. Remember at the time thinking they could do well for themselves, I'll definately have a listen to their new stuff.
