  1. I think Axl has no strong reason to release another GNR album

    - His voice is deteriorating with his age at 60.
    - The reception of Chinese Democracy was not as he expected.
    - There is no Izzy at the recording studio
    - Last time he recorded any hits & timeless songs were 30+ years ago
    - Statistically a new album will be way less popular and successful compared to AFD,UYI, UYII
    - Absurd (experimental) & Hardskool (classic rock sound) did not climb at top of the singles charts.
    - Guns N Roses at their 60s are not relevant towards the new generations. (They are no rebels & dangerous, but settled millionaires)
    - Still earns millions just by touring as a nostalgia act. Paying customers will always just go to listen to WTTJ. SCOM, NR, DC, PC
    - Lost the momentum of the GNR reunion, as 6-7 years have passed already.

  3. The differences for me is the way the bands portrayed and characterised their lifestyles of addictions on drugs, alcohol, porn/sex/girls:

    - The hair metal bands overall displayed it mainly as fancy, cool, rosy, fun, party time, bright time.
    - GNR displayed it as a raw, darker, harsh, agonising reality, the addictive side & the darker impact on relationships
    - The Seatle grunge / metal bands portrayed it even darker, suicidal, depressive.

So GNR started the transitional change in the culture which then the Seatle, grunge, metal bands ( eg Nirvana, Metallica, Pearl Jam, Faith No More etc) carried on, so as the popular culture of the rock/metal scene shifted to a new era.

  4. A lot of artists feel and touch and inspiration gets weaker due to 3 factors:

    A) They live a lifestyle more comfortable, less challenging or threatening. That reflects to the emotional state and that reflects to art.

    B) They are no longer functioning under the heavy influence of substances drugs that distort their perception and the feelings and the expression of the art.

    C) They already achieved sucess and recognition for their art. So their drive/goal to succeed is no longer the same.

Let's be honest  ; do you think that Hard Skool and Absurd could be in a GNR album ?? do you think it at the level of this band (exept "my word" !!). I already stop listened to this 2 tracks....sadly

Definately, Hardskool could be on those albums. I like it more than other UYI / Lies Songs.
Absurd on the other hand NO, similar to "my world."

  6. Yes that is mostly the case, as it is fact of aging....

A number of GNR fans are puzzled though & expect more because:

    A) They tend to believe that if Axl took more care of his physical body (less weight, more exercise, better diet) he would sing better.

    B) They believe as he managed to sing more like younger Axl at the ACDC shows, he can still do it at the GNR shows. They know he has not lost the rasp.

    C) They believe that if Axl trained his voice muscles with regular exercises under a proffesional coach during the no touring periods he will sing better.

  7. I am so embarrassed of the big 3 Axl & Slash & Duff. I did not send a link or mention of Absurd to anybody (friends other fans etc).
I refuse that it has been released....It is a traumatic moment for me.
I could maybe accept it  somehow if it was part of C.D, released with C.D Lineup...but in no way to be part of the reunion and especially their first single!

Okay. I'm done lying to myself.

I love it. I've had it on repeat all day.

Leftover as it may be, Slash's feel and tone mixed with Axl's vocals somehow take something that objectively is quite terrible and turn it into Guns N' Roses. They managed to make Silkworms of all things sound like a Guns N' Roses song (to an extent).

This is what is defined as  brainwashin and abusment. To listen sth 100 times and finally at the end lie to yourself so as to end the martyrdom.

Life goes on and you are still bitter.

Slash, Duff and Axl made peace with each other and released material. That's everything what matters now.

Bitter...No. Fucking disappointed and frustrated as hell. GNR have a history of great releasing singles & hits of quality timeless music..

Does "absurd" sound anything like the singles

    Wtj,scom,pc,patience,dc,nr,dh,cw,kohd,estranged,sidhy,better,sod?

I feel furious that after 30 years they do not respect their legacy at all as musicians...

"Absurd" songwriters are fuckin Pitman & Dizzy.....instead of Axl, Izzy, Slash,Robin,Buckethead...

No label will sign a band of songwriters of Pitman & Dizzy!!!

    A fuckin disgrace...i feel ashamed

Yeah there were spineless & stoned back then too SURE....but at least they quitted at some point!
Now they seem more spineless than ever!:fuckyou: by allowing this "my world" type of song written by pitman, to be their first GNR single in 30 fuckin years:thumbsdown:

Despite the debate if Absurd is a good song or not: What bothers me most is the fact that the first release of the reunited „b(r)and“ is a 20 year old song of New GNR. This speaks volumes in terms of Slash and Duff. By letting this happen, for me, they lost that much credibility, I cannot even find words.

Seriously, after five years they have nothing more to offer than a reworked song written by the guys who claimed to be GNR 20 years ago but everyone (beside some members of this forum) laughed about?!

$$$$$$...Seems Slash & Duff are paid really well being back at GNR
Both have wives & Kids & ex wives that demand $$$$ every month.
That was not the case back in the 90s, where they could say to Axl "Fuck off redhead"
    this is not GNR...

As @RussTCB said, this might honestly be the most Guns N' Roses thing to happen in the entirety of the band's history. Even if Duff and Slash hate the song, they must have seen the humor in doing this; particularly after the beating they took at the last show. Also, for Axl, playing that song must be surreal. Think of the circumstances, the band lineup, and Axl himself the last time they would have played that song (I believe the NYE 2001 show in Vegas). Axl does not even seem like the same person anymore. Slash and Duff are now playing on the type of songs that presumably made them lose interest in the band in the fist place. It really is mind-boggling.

Not as mind boggling if you consider the $$$ factor nowdays

Guys, Robin Finck left Guns N Roses in 2008. Buckethead in 2004. What fucking planet are you lot living on to think that they would appear on any new GNR album when Slash is in the band now! Like, seriously!? What the actual fuck?!

    The planet called W.Axl.Rose

    I personally prefer
    - CDII (pre 2006 Bucket/Robin/Brain) released at Christmas 2021
    - Current lineup proper new album released 2022 with a worldwide tour
